Few minutes ago…
Staring at the two lions stepping out from the portal, Amon gripped his sword tighter and faced them.
Both beasts radiated a more terrifying pressure than the lion from before.
And this time, aside from the purple disgusting liquid dripping from their fur, a purplish fire also coiled around them occasionally.
Standing on their feet, they stared intently at Amon and growled while stalking him.
The first lion walked toward Amon while the second one trailed to the side before advancing one step at a time.
It seemed both lions possessed a certain intelligence and wanted to attack Amon from both sides.
Seeing this situation, Amon was speechless.
He didn't make any further moves and just waited for the beasts to continue stalking him.
In the meantime, he took a brief glance up at the sky.
It reflected some lightning that crackled about, and the sky seemed to contain a certain kind of destructiveness to it.
It was like an abandoned desolate star, and cracks spread thin and wide through the skies.
For a moment, Amon feared the skies might collapse onto him at any time.
Whoosh!
Finally, seeing that Amon had let his guard down, both lions lunged at him simultaneously.
Still glancing up, it was like Amon hadn't even noticed them at all.
Both lions' eyes lit up as they increased the speed of their attack.
However… a chilly wind that carried a faint snow drifted about.
Then both lions collapsed lifelessly to the ground before splitting into a few fragments with a bang.
Until the moment of their death, they hadn't even seen Amon attack, as his gaze remained fixed on the sky.
'Interesting.' Amon muttered internally as he flicked his sword, causing the purplish blood to splatter around.
With a smile, he turned around and glanced at the portal that was beginning to expand.
'More lions?' Amon guessed as he watched the portal expand to twice its size.
Then, from the rotating blue portal, there was a brief glow before a few shadows formed on its surface.
The silhouettes finally stepped out from the portal to reveal five lions.
Once again, they were stronger than before.
Instinctively, Amon activated the visualisation art upon them.
'A bloodspawn?' Amon was surprised, though it still wasn't something difficult for him to handle.
The five lions had red eyes gleaming with ferocity, and their eyes glinted with a cold, chilling intent.
The lions were larger, almost reaching the height of Amon's waist.
And the moment they appeared, it was as though they had ingrained the formation into their mind.
All five of them quickly surrounded Amon and growled repeatedly at him, their mouths filled with drool.
Purple fire spread from the beasts and began slowly engulfing Amon.
'An elemental attack?' Amon was slightly startled that the lions could use a gift.
Still, he wasn't entirely shocked.
Star beasts were unique, and it was said that they came from all sorts of civilisations, so it was pretty normal that some of them could possess gifts like humans.
Star beasts possessing gifts!
With their absurd strengths, Amon felt it was unfair that star beasts could also possess gifts.
However…
When had the world ever been fair?
Amon's thoughts moved at lightning speed, and a line of runes flashed to life in front of him.
It was time to create the fourth gift.
[Please note that chaos elemental control is ranked at S-rank. As such, you're unable to create it.]
Reading the line of runes, Amon was bewildered.
'What is this?'
Amon hadn't expected the gift to be outright rejected.
But that was to be expected.
After all, Amon wanted to create a gift that could enable him control all the elements…
It was a truly amusing thought.
'Still, it's just ranked at S-grade? Then what's higher than that? Controlling laws?' Amon's mind was filled with questions, though he had no time to waste on that for now.
His thoughts quickly moved as he 'edited' the gift's information in his mind.
[Detected D-rank fire/ice elemental control. Rank is set to D by default. Creation will cost 150 creation points. Do you wish to proceed with creation?]
Amon quickly nodded internally, but at that moment the fire had already submerged him.
There was silence for a few seconds before a chill spread through the surroundings.
Gradually, from Amon's location, a pale blue flame spread outwards, engulfing the purple poisonous flame.
There was a stalemate between the two before—
BANG!
A resounding explosion occurred as both attacks cancelled out each other and the burst spread outwards.
[New gift: Ice–fire Elemental Control.]
Amon quickly dismissed the runes, then took a casual step forward.
Upon reaching the location of the first lion, a faint glow of the moon briefly flickered.
Under the slightly dim sky, it was as though the moon had cast its unholy glow upon all things.
A crescent shape appeared in the air and in the next instant the beast split into different fragments.
After spending barely a second with the lion, Amon took a step forward and appeared at the location of the second beast.
Another crescent glow appeared as a faint wind drifted by.
Quietly, in under five seconds, Amon eliminated all the beasts before they could even realise what was happening.
'Hmmm…' Amon glanced around as the beasts were gradually fizzling into liquid purple goo.
Shrugging, he returned his gaze to the portal in front.
The portal had expanded once more.
Instantly, fire lions of similar size stepped out from the portal.
'The same as before?' Amon was slightly puzzled upon noticing the aura around the lions was the same as before.
However, he didn't have the time to be happy for long.
The first fire lion hurriedly ran forward, and from the portal five more stepped out.
'Ten?' Amon thought, but that wasn't all.
His eyes narrowed as he watched the lions trooping out from the portal.
5… 10… 25… 50!
Like a hunting squad, the lions grouped around Amon, and he could feel a thick killing intent spreading through the air.
A faint thrill of excitement surged through him as he stared at all 50…
'Impressive… truly impressive!' Amon praised the tower from the bottom of his heart, then took a step forward, using his movement technique.
Swoosh!
Snow drifted about and in an instant three lions disappeared.
'47 left.' Amon counted in his heart, then took a casual step back to distance himself from the lions trying to trap him.
After placing some distance between them, he casually stepped back and appeared in front of a group of lions the next second.
A full moon seemed to appear briefly, and for a moment it was slightly blood red.
The blood red moon was soon coated purple under the watchful eyes of the lions.
The purple liquid was their blood.
And they didn't even realise they had died.
'45.' Amon counted before casually taking another step back.
The lions were slightly trembling in fear, realising Amon was far more dangerous than they had expected.
Amon noticed they began gathering together, since surrounding him wasn't working in their favor.
Purplish flames spread around the lions and surrounded them, slowly spreading outwards toward Amon.
'Smart tactic,' Amon commented, 'but it won't work against him.'
Immediately after speaking, pale blue flames spread from him once more.
The next instant, Amon took a light step forward, appearing in front of a group of lions at the edges.
Swoosh.
'42.' Amon counted in his heart as his eyes glowed with intense killing intent.
Today, he would definitely take the artifact.
