In the outside world…
Everyone held their breaths in anticipation as time passed in tense silence.
In the history of the academy only one person had ever passed the behemoth star gate and it usually marked an unprecedented prodigy.
The only person who had ever done it was Damien.
And now, perhaps… there might be someone else.
The silence felt extremely suffocating, yet Damien's expression was relaxed and casual.
'He shouldn't be done anytime soon. During my time I… spent quite a lot of it.'
Although Amon had been faster than him in completing the previous levels, Damien didn't think Amon would have such an easy time completing the final level.
The star youth was a particularly unique creature among the star beast race, even going as far as possessing a unique aspect.
Damien smirked as he recalled this creature he had battled many years ago.
Just as he was smirking and remembering, a blinding golden glow shot up into the sky.
'What?' Damien's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.
The golden light was extremely bright, attracting the attention of everyone as it vanished into the distant clouds.
Then, at a speed even the instructors couldn't follow, something descended into the star gate.
"The tenth level! He really cleared the tenth level!" someone finally yelled, making everyone realize the gravity of the situation.
Natasha's eyes lit up as she understood what it meant.
'Amon! He really cleared it!'
Her eyes were filled with excitement as she clenched her fist.
There was also that golden glow… if her guess wasn't wrong, that was Amon's reward.
She wanted one too.
A look of impatience crossed Natasha's face and she couldn't wait to rush in there.
Helena on the other hand narrowed her eyes, noting what this meant.
Another crack in her flawless plan.
Amon was bringing so many changes and they were happening so fast.
It was as though because of him, things were slowly starting to spiral out of her control.
Helena didn't like the sound of that at all.
'He's received that reward which isn't supposed to be his. What will happen to that guy?'
Helena seemed lost in thought, unsure whether what was happening was good or bad.
Everything was still manageable for now since she still held absolute control.
However the future… had become uncertain.
And it was all because of one guy.
…
Even with everything going on, Simon still refused to believe his eyes.
His face was full of confusion as he rubbed his eyes repeatedly, unable to come to terms with the situation.
'Damn it!' Simon cursed violently in his heart which jolted at the sight of the smirking Damien.
"I remember we had a bet, right?" Damien narrowed his eyes at Simon.
"You… Damien. Why don't we let things like this go? It's normal to lose bets at times but it's not compulsory to take away the rewards of the bet, especially if it's someone who can be considered your friend."
Damien glanced lazily at the instructor who had just spoken.
"How's what you said any of my business?"
The instructor was gobsmacked.
He opened his mouth to speak again.
"Now it's just something minor but you might need our help in the future. You can even save the favor for your disciple."
Hearing this, Damien rolled his eyes.
How shameless could this bunch be?
He stretched his right palm toward the group who had made the bet.
"Hand over the relics, now."
"Damien. Didn't you hear what I just said?" the instructor threatened angrily.
Students were already turning toward the commotion when a sharp sound echoed.
SLAP!
Before anyone could notice their movements, Damien was suddenly standing where the instructor had been, and the instructor had flown like a rag doll for a few meters before colliding with the wall and getting embedded in it.
On Damien's face was an annoyed expression as he spat coldly:
"I don't have a good temper."
He turned to the remaining instructors with a frown.
"So what's it going to be? Are you going to lecture me about moralities like your colleague?"
As he spoke, he tossed an object in his hand.
The instructors' faces turned ugly as they noticed the ring in his grip.
It was clearly the universe ring of the instructor he had slapped away.
"Damien this is too much bullying! What the fuc—"
SLAP!
Before the new instructor could finish, he was sent flying, and Damien now had two rings in his hand.
Glaring at Damien with hateful eyes, the instructors finally took out five artifacts from their universe rings under the watchful stares of the students.
"Is that the bone of a dragon? It looks so huge!"
"That's a sword condensed from the shattered fragments of a volcanic star gate!"
"Isn't that the egg of a phoenix? Although it can't hatch, I heard it's extremely helpful to those with fire related gifts, boosting their strength and growth speed!"
Murmurs and gasps spread through the youths as they recognized a few of the treasures being handed out.
Although these were basic artifacts since the instructors were unwilling to hand out higher grade ones, it was still shocking.
None of the students expected their instructors to be this rich.
Their eyes lit up with excitement as they watched the exchange.
"Haha, I knew you guys would be reasonable." Damien laughed with nonchalance.
"You can try reporting me to the principal like before. Haha."
Damien laughed like he didn't care about any consequences.
Truly, it was against the rules for instructors to fight one another, let alone display the kind of arrogance Damien showed.
But there was a reason his actions were allowed.
At least that was what the principal had told them.
For the past few years things had gone calmly and Damien didn't seek trouble, almost as if he had given up on causing chaos for the instructors.
However… ever since Damien got his disciple it was like something terrible had happened.
Did they make the wrong choice by reforming the entire academy and dividing classes into different grades?
The instructors were filled with indignance, knowing that reporting Damien would lead to nothing.
Just then, a slight ripple passed through the air and the creak of a door echoed, drawing everyone's attention.
Turning toward the behemoth towers, they saw a figure step out.
With dark hair and loose silver strands at the edges, everyone immediately recognized Amon.
Amon stood there dumbfounded staring at the crowd.
'Are there supposed to be this many people?' He fell speechless at the thought.
"Errr," Amon coughed awkwardly, not used to everyone staring at him, "hi everyone?"
Amon spotted someone rushing toward him and noticed it was the blind girl, Natasha.
Everyone regained their senses as they stared at Amon.
"Is he the one that cleared the tower? Isn't he in the 'mediocre' class?"
"Yes he is!" a youth answered quickly. "So does that mean climbing the tower actually isn't difficult?"
Questions spread like wildfire as they stared at Amon, recognizing his weak aura.
At the whispers and murmurs, Simon whose heart was filled with grievance perked up.
He turned to Damien with a smirk.
"Why don't we have another bet?"
Damien was suddenly intrigued.
"Another bet? What's it about?"
"I'm willing to place 25 artifacts on the line!" Simon announced confidently, causing his fellow instructors to draw in sharp breaths as they all wondered if Simon had gone mad.
