Primordial Awakening: Limitless Growth With Ex Rank Ability

Chapter 60: A Monster In Human Skin

A chill spread through everyone's hearts the moment they saw the state of the student who had entered.

"This… what happened? Giants?" questions popped into everyone's mouths as they stared at the youth on the ground.

The youth took a moment to recollect himself before explaining what had transpired.

When he was done, everyone drew in a sharp breath.

No wonder the youth was so badly injured.

A giant that loomed over him like a behemoth.

According to the youth's words, he had barely been able to react before almost being killed in one attack by the giant.

If not for shouting 'I quit' in time, he would have most likely lost his life.

"How is it so terrifying?" one of the students muttered under his breath. Then their eyes flicked in Amon's direction.

If their guess wasn't wrong, this youth had survived it all.

"If there's a giant on the sixth level then what's on the seventh? Or even eighth?" another youth raised the question.

Everyone's eyes were locked on Amon, waiting for him to offer an explanation of what he encountered.

Amon shrugged and didn't bother with them.

He didn't want to make things difficult for Damien and instead supported the fact that none of the teenagers would be able to complete the climb.

Everyone's anger flared up instantly seeing that Amon offered no explanation.

"Who the hell does he think he is? Just because you managed to pass through sheer luck doesn't mean others can't pass too," a youth growled in anger, then continued.

"Who knows? Maybe your core is too low grade. The difficulty of the tower climb might be reduced drastically to the bare minimum."

There seemed to be some truth to his words, causing a few others to nod their heads.

However, Amon didn't let their statements affect him.

Noticing the familiar nonchalance on Damien's face, Simon snorted and pointed at the youth who had finished speaking.

"You, collect the jade plaque and enter the tower."

The youth's face turned pale with fright as he stared at Simon speechlessly.

"Instructor… I… I…" he stammered, not knowing what to say.

Simon glared at him, making the words die in his throat.

The youth lowered his head, his eyes darting around.

He wanted to run away, but the thought that Simon, being their instructor, might purposely fail him caused him to freeze.

Feeling the prickling sensation of Simon's increasingly colder stare, the youth broke out in cold sweat.

Clenching his teeth, he strengthened his resolve.

"It's just a tower climb. Who says I can't climb it?"

As soon as he finished speaking, he bent down and picked up the jade plaque from the youth on the ground.

He glanced at it, then turned toward the door and walked with unsteady steps into the star gate.

The moment he vanished from their line of sight, everyone held their breath.

The youth who had just entered had a yellow core and belonged to the talented bunch.

If his theory about the trial's difficulty being based on one's core grade was true, then he would surely have an easier time passing.

But if it wasn't…

Then Amon would be an even bigger monster than they imagined.

Everyone held their breaths as time passed and the sky began to darken.

A bright light surged up into the clouds a few seconds after the youth entered.

More than a minute later, another white light surged up.

More than ten minutes passed before another light rose into the sky.

Then, after a few more minutes, another light erupted into the sky.

However, contrary to the previous ones, it was blood red.

Everyone was bewildered.

Perhaps the youth was right?

"What does a red light mean? Did he complete some hidden achievements?"

"Is having a higher grade core really the cause of the increased difficulty?"

Murmurs rang out, but they didn't notice the eyes of the instructors growing solemn.

A whistle resounded and something smacked onto a lady's face.

"Huh?" the lady blinked, dazed by the stinging pain on her cheek along with a splash sound.

She glanced down and the next moment a thunderous scream tore through her throat.

Her eyes rolled back and she immediately passed out, collapsing to the ground unconscious.

The surrounding students turned ghastly pale as their gaze fell on the lifeless hand clutching the jade plaque.

It was clear from this situation that…

The youth was dead.

Everyone drew in a sharp breath.

The first time, the student had been quite lucky and escaped with his life, albeit injured.

But the second time…

The youth wasn't so lucky.

"And to think he only lasted to level four," someone whispered, making the students' eyes grow even more solemn.

It was only now that they were starting to understand the concept of lasting till level ten.

Staring at Amon, who had a laid back expression without a single injury, a look of shock appeared on everyone's face.

It was truly the first time they understood what kind of monster Amon was.

And another question appeared in their minds.

Was there really a need to grade students according to their classes?

Everything should be attributed to one's gift.

Who knew what kind of broken gift Amon had awakened?

A faint smile tugged at the corner of Amon's lips as he calmly returned their gazes with his arms folded.

"Who else is going next?" the instructor shouted, knowing he couldn't force them and trying to spur some reaction.

Unfortunately, the previous excitement the youths had in the beginning was nowhere to be found.

Their fighting spirits had been extinguished and a few even wore looks of fear.

"I'd like to try." Finally, someone spoke up, astounding the crowd.

There was still someone willing to try after seeing everything?

Everyone's eyes snapped in the direction of… Natasha.

"A blind girl?" the students were dumbfounded.

Although Natasha was blind, everyone knew she could faintly maneuver her way around most of the time.

However, would that be enough for her to survive in there?

What if she couldn't react in time before an attack crashed into her?

Picturing the image of such a beautiful girl being smashed into pulp made the students' faces grow even paler.

"Okay," Simon nodded and gestured toward the jade plaque in the dead youth's hand.

Natasha nodded and walked forward before picking it up.

Her eyes were filled with excitement and a thirst for battle as she held it, ignoring the blood stains.

She turned to look Amon in the eyes and grinned as though she was challenging him, leaving Amon speechless.

'What does that look mean?' Amon was puzzled.

Still, he couldn't deny the curiosity bubbling in his chest.

What level would Natasha reach?

He had been curious about her true strength for a while now and was finally about to see a glimpse of it.

Amon couldn't deny his interest was piqued.

After grinning at Amon, Natasha turned around and walked with elegant steps toward the star gate.

Without a moment's hesitation, she entered the gate.

Barely a few seconds passed before a bright light flashed into the sky, silencing all murmurs.
