"This… is not good," Damien commented, his frown deepening.
Amon stared at Damien with a look of confusion as he glanced down at the crack on his hand.
"Instructor Damien… what happened?"
Damien furrowed his brows and stared at the crack on Amon's hand for a short while before exhaling.
"So it's true. Such is the case with you as well…"
Hearing Damien act mysterious, Amon glanced at him skeptically.
Damien collapsed into his chair and started explaining.
"As one's core evolves, so does the state of their bodies. Their physiques are enhanced to wield more mana. However, we… with white cores, our physiques are stuck at the same level, so using attacks of higher levels only takes a toll on our bodies and causes all sorts of harm."
Hearing his explanation, Amon's heart was filled with shock.
He froze, then stared at the crack in his hand before looking back at Damien.
"Are you serious?" He glanced at Damien with questions written all over his face.
True, another reason he didn't take a closer look at his body was because he had used his healing gift on it.
If even his healing gift didn't heal it, didn't that mean he was in a dangerous situation?
He was basically a ticking time bomb now.
"Relax," Damien suddenly said, a faint smile playing across his lips.
"Don't bother much about it for now. Since you haven't been in a lot of battles, it isn't so serious yet. And there is a method to increase the strength of your physique to an advanced level."
Damien paused and looked at Amon with a skeptical expression as he tried to stifle his laughter.
Amon felt exasperated. Shrugging and rolling his eyes, he said, "Just spill the beans."
Damien finally couldn't help but chuckle and reply, "The means of increasing your physical strength is in the Forgotten Land of Gods. So whether you like it or not, you're forced to come either way, except of course you want to explode while executing an attack."
Hearing Damien's words, Amon's eyes flickered with contemplation.
After a few seconds of thought, Amon finally resigned himself to his fate.
It seemed he would be visiting the Forgotten Land of Gods.
He had to prioritize his life after all.
"Here." Damien flicked his hand, handing Amon a plaque.
"That's your plaque containing information about contribution points and all that. Just place a drop of your blood on it and the corresponding information will surge into your mind."
At Damien's explanation, Amon did as instructed and bit his right thumb, causing a drop of blood to flow out.
Seeing that drop of blood, a serious expression appeared on Damien's face.
And for a moment, a strange light flickered through his eyes.
Unaware of all this, Amon felt a surge of information enter his mind on how to use the plaque to purchase items, check its balance, and transfer to another person.
Going through the information, Amon was amazed by the incredibleness of the whole equipment.
He turned to Damien, who grinned at him, then tossed him an object.
"This is the artifact I said I was going to give you. It's a defensive artifact that can block attacks up to the peak of rank 4 and can also defend against three attacks from a rank 5 gifted one. It should bring some measure of defense to you."
Amon collected the artifact and looked at Damien with gratitude before thanking him.
It couldn't be compared to the star artifact he got within the star gate, but it was still something.
"Settle down for class," Damien said with a smile and picked up a book.
Amon was stupefied that Damien was actually going to give him a lesson.
Without hesitation, Amon sat down, and shockingly, for the first time, Damien actually taught Amon quite a bit about the world of Bermuda along with other information.
'What's suddenly gotten into him?' Amon was puzzled as he exited the classroom in the evening.
…
He expected the evening to pass peacefully as he remained seated on his bed in a meditative state. However, surprisingly, there was a knock on his door.
"Huh? Who's it at this unholy hour of the night?" Bewildered, Amon stood up and approached the door before opening it.
Immediately, Helena entered his vision.
Startled to see her, Amon quickly asked, "What brings you here at this time?"
Helena glanced around and smiled faintly, then spoke with an expressionless face, "It doesn't seem too late."
Amon shrugged. "Seems pretty late to me. How can I help you?"
"I want to go and explore a unique star gate, and I want you to accompany me."
Amon was immediately puzzled by her words.
"You want me to accompany you to explore a unique star gate? What happened to the other students belonging to the genius class?"
Helena remained impassive at his sarcastic statement.
Shrugging, she said, "No one in this year's class is as strong as you. You know that."
Amon glanced at her once more, his eyes staring into her silver eyes that contained no emotion.
She didn't seem bothered about whether Amon would accept to follow her or not. It was just something she thought of in passing as she was leaving.
"Why do you call it unique? The star gate," Amon questioned with a raised brow.
Helena pondered briefly before replying, "There's a pool there that can enhance one's divine energy reserves and evolve the grade of one's core due to the exaggerated level of divine energy present."
"Aside from that, there might be an artifact there," Helena added casually.
Immediately, Amon's eyes sharpened at her words.
He hesitated for a long while, many thoughts running through his mind, before he finally asked,
"Is the academy aware of this?"
"No." Helena shook her head. "Are you interested?"
Amon hesitated once more before nodding.
"I'll come with you."
He touched his chin for a moment.
With the defense artifact Damien had given him, coupled with the trump card he still had from his father, Amon didn't feel there was anything that could pose him a substantial amount of danger.
With that, he readily agreed.
Helena's face still remained emotionless.
"Okay, let's go." As she finished speaking, she stretched her delicate hand towards Amon.
Amon was puzzled, but he still reached out to touch her hand.
It felt soft and cold as ice…
Before Amon could reminisce more on the feeling of her hand, both of them vanished.
Amon felt his perception distort.
It was vastly different from the death in his past life, less heart shattering, and was also different from his entrance into the Behemoth Tower.
His perception shifted briefly before his darkened vision slowly regained some light.
"You should have told me you were about to use your gift…" Amon mumbled under his breath as he tried to stabilize himself from his dizzy state.
"Shhhh." Helena quickly hushed him, then pointed her slender finger forward.
Instantly, Amon's eyes widened as he realized they were at the edge of the island.
In a hushed whisper, he immediately glared at Helena, furiously whispering, "Didn't you say we were going to explore a unique star gate? What are we doing here?"
Helena glanced at Amon before shrugging.
Before Amon could react, she placed her slender finger over his lips as they disappeared once more.
The next time they appeared, Amon glanced around, feeling the wind rushing against his skin tumultuously.
He stared dumbfounded at the sight.
He and Helena were in midair, and they were plummeting drastically toward the ocean beneath them.
How could Amon not understand that he had been schemed against by this vile woman?
