Sitting atop the branch, Amon still felt unsafe, so he tossed the coin mid-air.
"Is the west the safest place here? Heads for if it's the safest of all four destinations, tails for if the level of danger is at least higher than one of the directions."
Catching the coin, he glanced down at the snake tails around it, and a grim expression appeared on his face.
He studied his surroundings, feeling slightly unsafe due to the fact that he didn't have a weapon.
Still, Amon wasn't completely without a method of protecting himself.
He still had the fire-ice elemental control as a gift.
With that to console himself, Amon spotted another tree not too far away and jumped onto it without hesitation.
SWOOSH!
Amon's speed was extremely swift as he scaled through the trees like a monkey.
He continued for a few seconds after placing Aegon in his primordial core, seeing that the dragon was of no help for now and would only distract him.
Suddenly, Amon spotted something through the corner of his eyes.
Without hesitation, he dodged, causing a resounding bang to echo.
"Arrrgh…" Amon exclaimed slightly.
The attack had caused him to miss a step and plummet rapidly toward the ground.
Only… he couldn't see the ground!
Amon's mind raced as he forced himself toward the tree he was falling from.
His hands dug into it forcefully, trying to stabilize himself.
Thankfully, his physical capabilities had been enhanced greatly, so he was now able to dig into the tree with his fingers.
Still, his nails tore off as his fingers were rapidly being torn apart due to the weight of Amon's body.
He gritted his teeth, feeling an unbearable amount of pain coursing through him.
Thanks to the mental immunity gift, he was able to withstand the pain, but otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to hold on in the slightest.
Even with the gift, he was finding it hard to control himself.
Amon clenched his teeth tightly and finally stabilized himself.
Glancing toward a nearby branch, he jumped onto it and looked down at his fingers.
They were bloodied and unrecognizable.
White light glowed briefly on Amon's fingers as his healing gift activated.
Immediately, a surge of miraculous energy flowed freely through his fingers, healing him completely.
Amon finally let out a sigh of relief, feeling that things were bearable.
He glanced around and noticed he had been forced a few meters from his previous location.
Narrowing his eyes, Amon put his guard up and, using his movement technique, began heading in the same direction once more.
His movements were like a blur…
Suddenly, he heard the same whooshing sound.
Without hesitation, Amon's eyes flicked around as he spotted a nearby tree branch.
Instantly, he used his movement battle art and appeared atop the tree.
He glanced back and noticed exactly what it was that had attacked him previously.
Shock flickered in his eyes as he saw a spear slice through the air at lightning speed and strike the location where he had been.
Amon narrowed his eyes and immediately scanned the surroundings, searching for where the spear had come from.
His gaze sharpened as he spotted a silvery glow.
Then, the next instant, he rushed there without hesitation.
SWOOSH!
Another spear cut through the air, dashing toward Amon, who calmly tilted his head.
The spear brushed past him by a hair's breadth, and Amon continued without much obstruction.
Noticing another spear heading toward him, Amon dodged, then reached out and grabbed it.
He twisted it mid-air and hurled it toward the source with explosive force.
BOOM!
The air seemed to burst apart due to the power behind Amon's attack.
The spear pierced through the air and produced a resounding bang, as if it had collided with something solid.
Strangely, whoever was throwing the spears didn't seem affected and continued hurling them at him.
Amon frowned slightly and increased his speed, this time using his movement gift to become a shadowy silhouette.
Before one could blink, Amon was already at the location.
He reached out to grab whoever was responsible, only to freeze in his tracks.
His eyes went wide as…
BANG!
A terrifying shockwave occurred as multiple spears burst outward from the equipment.
Amon's eyes nearly popped out as he twisted his body just enough so his heart wasn't struck, but multiple spears still pierced through him, skewering him like a porcupine.
"Damnation!" Amon cursed under his breath as blood dripped from his mouth.
He stretched his hand weakly as a chilly blue light emerged from it like flames and rushed toward the mechanical device.
Instantly, the device froze solid.
Glancing down at his impaled body, a wry smile appeared on Amon's face.
He had truly suffered a lot in this star gate.
Just the stench of blood alone almost made him lose his rationality. Thankfully, his gift was there to keep him in check.
He reached out with his trembling right hand, which was impaled by a spear, and pulled one out while his left hand remained pinned.
Then, he reached toward his left hand and pulled out the second spear.
With his left hand free, he pulled the spear from his right hand.
Suddenly, Amon's pupils shrank as he heard another whooshing sound.
"Another spear?" Amon didn't even have time to think as he used his movement gift, forcefully shifting his position.
BANG!
At the spot where Amon had been standing, a spear embedded itself deeply.
Amon's eyes narrowed slightly as he increased the speed at which he removed the remaining spears, ignoring the agonizing pain.
Thankfully, he was soon finished.
He looked up and stared in the direction of the earlier attack, narrowing his eyes.
Was this the danger that the divination gift had been warning him about?
He reached toward his stomach and pulled out the spear there, causing a few internal organs to be slightly dragged out with a thud.
Truly, Amon felt incredulous that he was still able to maintain a calm expression despite his body being riddled with holes.
He had a vague feeling it had something to do with his state as a 'sinner'.
In truth, with all these injuries piling up on Amon's body, he should have already entered his frenzy state, where he felt no emotions and only wanted to kill.
However, his gift altered his condition, allowing him to retain clarity, even though his physical appearance had already been completely warped by that state.
Understanding this, Amon let out a low, shaky exhale.
'In that case, I don't have much to worry about. As long as my head and heart aren't destroyed… I should be alright.'
With that in mind, Amon continued removing the remaining spears from his body.
Finally, his body was left in a tattered state, rags clinging to him, his face still wearing a calm expression.
Amon glanced down and suddenly narrowed his eyes when he heard yet another whooshing sound heading his way.
Already knowing it was a trap meant to kill him, Amon didn't spare the source a glance.
After dodging the spear attack, he continued onward.
The journey through the forest soon became perilous.
As Amon advanced, the spears grew more advanced, and their numbers increased exponentially.
Only by using the trees was Amon able to avoid being overwhelmed.
However, he soon encountered a new problem.
He emerged into a clearing…
With no trees to shield him, Amon felt that his journey had come to an end when he suddenly spotted something.
'This… is similar to the part of the lake we used to enter this star gate?!' Amon's eyes widened, and without hesitation, he used all the speed he could muster and dove into the pond.
