Amon's pupils shrank, and he was unable to dodge it in time.
Just when he thought the drop of blood would hit him, a shadow flashed in front of him.
"Arrrrghhhh…."
The shadow let out a pained scream before falling into the ocean.
At the same time, the blood-red skies darkened considerably, and the blood began to dry up before the skies returned to normal.
Amon glanced up at the blood-red skies in a daze before recalling the shadow from before.
'That voice sounded feminine… and familiar…' Amon's eyes narrowed at the thought as he noticed the shadow sinking deeper into the ocean.
Just as he was deliberating on whether to save the person or not, something floated to his feet.
A… dark green blindfold?
'Natasha!?' Amon's pupils instantly shrank, and without hesitation, he dove into the water.
Despite being unable to swim, Amon quickly communicated with Aegon.
'Quick, Aegon. Turn into a big whale and swallow us…'
'A big whale?' Aegon was stunned by the request, but without hesitation, he materialized outside Amon's body in the form of a cat.
Then, his massive body shapeshifted, and he rapidly changed into a small whale the size of a grown man.
Gradually, the whale began expanding till it spanned more than two kilometers.
Although it was a little exaggerated, Aegon didn't care, as he swallowed Amon and the person he was holding after feeling he had reached his limit.
Amon felt a suction force come from the whale and didn't resist in the slightest.
Instead, his unsettled heart focused on Natasha the moment he gained a stable place to stay.
He glanced at her.
Her expression was pale, and her vacant eyes stared at him while she tried to mouth a few words.
A blood-red marking appeared on her head, forming an intricate, flowery pattern on her face before dimming and fading into her body.
Then, Natasha passed out, and her shallow breathing almost seemed to have come to a stop.
Not seeing any rise and fall of her chest, Amon had to lean in close to feel the faint warmth of her breath.
Nevertheless, he could tell that Natasha was gradually dying…
'What the hell is happening?' Amon questioned no one in particular as he racked his brain, trying to figure out what to do next.
Many thoughts passed through his mind, and all of them led him to a single conclusion.
He didn't know or have anything that could save Natasha.
Only one method could save Natasha…
The divination gift.
He had to use it wisely.
Only by asking the right question could he ensure her safety.
Natasha had sacrificed her life for him, and Amon wasn't willing to let her just die like that.
He hesitated for a short while, deliberating on what to ask before finally coming up with something.
'Only one chance… please work!'
"Instructor Damien has a way to save Natasha if I go and meet him right now?"
After asking, Amon tossed the coin into mid-air before catching it a few seconds later.
It landed on heads!
Amon's heart instantly surged with ecstasy at this development.
He glanced at Natasha, whose expression had returned to neutrality, and there didn't seem to be any twitch in her brows or flinch in her expression.
After taking in the sight of her for a few more seconds, Amon sighed and then carried her bridal-style.
Thankfully, she was light in his grasp, so it was a little easy to carry her.
Still, Amon was curious about something…
'Why had Natasha followed him?'
He didn't know that the previous day, upon sensing Amon's unusual movements with her gift, she had followed him, only to be led off trail by Helena.
And this time, following him, she hadn't expected to see him encounter a crisis.
Acting on instinct, she decided to save Amon, prioritizing his life over her own.
Unaware of all this, Amon looked at her flawless, peacefully sleeping face and sighed a little.
With a neutral expression, he carried her while also ordering the dragon.
'Lead us to a safe place away from that big guy, to the surface of the ocean where I can emerge.'
'Okay, dad,' the primordial dragon readily agreed and moved for a few minutes before coming to a stop.
'We're here,' it said to Amon before opening its mouth.
Streams of moonlight drifted to Amon through the gaping teeth of its mouth.
Amon walked out of the whale.
Thanks to the size that Aegon had transformed into, it was pretty easy for him to transform without much issue.
He ordered the dragon once more.
'Change to a dragon and take us atop the island.' Amon felt slightly apologetic for using the primordial dragon like this, but there was no time to think too much on such matters.
Aegon didn't have any complaints, as his already massive, whale-like body shrank to more than a quarter of its size before changing into that of a dragon.
Flapping repeatedly, the dragon hovered silently in front of Amon.
Without hesitation, Amon climbed atop it and was led all the way to the top of the island.
Amon pondered a little before giving Aegon another order.
Now, instead of Aegon dropping them off at the edges, he took them directly to the classes section.
Normally, Amon would stop at the edge and then use his invisibility gift to leave the place, but this time, with Natasha with him, he couldn't use invisibility on her.
Aegon led them all the way to the classes side and then shrank drastically before diving down silently.
When they were close to the ground, Amon held Natasha in his arms and jumped down softly, his boot clanking lightly against the ground.
Without hesitation, Amon rushed into the 'mediocre' classroom and noticed Damien hunched over his desk, glancing at a picture in his hand, seemingly in a trance.
"Instructor! I need your help!" Amon shouted, causing Damien to snap out of his trance as his gaze fell on Amon, who had a faint stench on him with sticky green liquid smeared across his body.
Wrinkling his brows slightly, his attention became affixed on the figure in Amon's arms.
"That interesting girl?" Damien was slightly startled as his gaze fell on Natasha.
"Bring her here…" He cleared the table immediately and asked at the same time, "What happened to her?"
Amon placed Natasha gently on the table before sighing and relaying everything that had happened.
Damien stared at Amon briefly, slightly stunned that he had gone out to the ocean to hunt at night.
And also astounded at the fact that he had been…
"This is a curse… who did you offend that would want to curse you two? Such gifts are excruciatingly rare. You might not find them in a crowd of a billion Gifted Ones."
Damien narrowed his eyes at Amon and asked with a frown.
Amon stared back at Damien, slightly stunned.
"What's a curse?" he asked.
Damien sighed, then began explaining…
Amon instantly placed his full attention on Damien's explanation. After all, this concerned his life and death.
What if he had actually been cursed? Amon felt his fate would have become uncertain.
'However… how uncertain would it have become?'
Damien paused briefly as though he was calculating the weight of his words before he started speaking: "A curse is a unique kind of gift… when it's activated, it descends onto a person, and it's practically incurable unless the gifted one with the curse reverses it."
Damien stared intently at Amon and asked with a narrowed gaze, "Do you know the person responsible?"
