Damien started speaking: "A curse is a unique kind of gift… when it's activated, it descends onto a person, and it's practically incurable unless the gifted one with the curse reverses it."
Damien stared intently at Amon and asked with a narrowed gaze, "Do you know the person responsible?"
Amon pondered briefly before shaking his head.
He explained in detail what had happened while he was out on the ocean, causing Damien to fall silent briefly.
"This is definitely a targeted attack. And it seems it was directed at you, but she sacrificed her life in place of yours."
At the explanation, Amon's heart skipped a beat as he made a guess in his mind.
He had a vague feeling about who would try to do something like that, and subconsciously, he wanted to summon the divination coin.
Just then, he recalled that the divination coin had exhausted its use for today.
With frustration bubbling in his chest, Amon let out a strained sigh and turned to Damien.
"Instructor, do you have a way to help her?"
Suddenly, he was hopeful. After all, if Natasha just died like that, Amon would feel some regret.
Aside from peculiar, she was likely his only friend in this life…
With that, his heartbeat seemed to increase slightly as he stared at Damien, waiting for his reply.
Damien glanced at Amon for a few seconds and rubbed his chin in deep thought.
"You should be thankful you came to me…"
Damien stretched his hand and waved.
Instantly, a terrifying amount of divine energy surged forth.
It was so dense that the divine energy filled the classroom and turned the whole scenery white, almost blinding Amon's vision.
'So much divine energy…' Amon exclaimed, his heart shaken.
If he compared the primordial energy in all fourteen of his cores to this, it likely wouldn't even amount to ten percent.
Amon was astounded by Damien's strength.
'…And to think this is just a clone? Damnation!'
Damien gently tapped two fingers onto her head, causing a light glow to materialize for a moment before fading away.
"This will maintain her condition for a day. If you hadn't brought her immediately, within a few hours she would have died."
Changing his tone to one of seriousness, he intoned, "This curse is meant to drain one's lifespan continuously before turning them to dust. For now, I've slowed down the rapid drain on her lifespan."
Amon pondered for a moment before inquiring with a solemn expression.
"Do you have a way to cure her completely?"
Damien didn't reply to Amon immediately. Instead, he walked towards the neat stacks of books and began rummaging through them.
Within a few seconds, he was done.
Glancing up at Amon, he flipped the book open and soon reached a particular page.
He tapped his finger on the picture atop the page and explained.
"This is the Graveyard of Death… by heading there, you can obtain a useful material that can eliminate the aging process. However…"
Damien paused at this moment…
Seeing Amon's curious expression filled with seriousness, he finally continued.
"It's a little dangerous…"
"A little dangerous?" Amon inquired to be sure.
Damien nodded. "I can't go there, as what I'll obtain won't suit her. Besides… I'm too strong for now, so I won't be able to go there. Only those at rank three and below are allowed to enter…"
"Although my core is white, there's a completely different way of measuring strength there."
At Damien's explanation, Amon fell silent, and a hesitant expression appeared on his face.
He deliberated on whether to go or not.
Ultimately, he decided to help her out.
After all, if it wasn't for him, Natasha wouldn't be in such a state in the first place.
With that, he looked up at Damien, his eyes flickering with determination and confidence.
"I'll go."
Damien nodded, and a strange expression appeared on his face.
"It's within a star gate, but the star gate is a little strange…" Damien coughed lightly, causing Amon to be bewildered.
What could be so strange about a star gate?
After entering the one in the ocean and at the academy grounds, Amon knew that unique star gates existed. As such, he felt that the star gate couldn't be as strange as Damien made it out to be.
Smiling wryly, he sighed. "Just take me to the star gate, Instructor…"
With that, Damien nodded. "Are you prepared?"
Amon glanced at himself, then let out an elongated sigh.
Still, his eyes that were affixed on himself were filled with confidence.
Noting this, Damien no longer asked any more questions.
Instead, he reached into his unique space and took out something akin to a wand.
Holding the metallic wand with intricate engravings etched onto it, he stretched his hand beside Amon.
Then, he drew a line…
From a vertical line, he drew a horizontal one connecting it, then another vertical all the way down, and finally, a horizontal line.
In Amon's line of sight, it seemed like the drawing of a door.
Amon watched in amazement as the lines he drew seemed to gain life.
They shimmered faintly, then emitted a faint hum, and the engravings in mid-air began to move slightly.
At that moment, the faint illusory outline of a door began to form in Amon's vision.
Amon glanced at it in surprise.
"Enter," Damien gestured towards the door and said. "Inside is the location of the star gate…"
Amon paused briefly, a flicker of hesitation passing through his eyes.
Then, steeling his resolve, he entered.
After stepping inside, he felt his perception distort instantly, like he was being teleported.
Suddenly, Damien's eyes widened slightly as he recalled something.
"Wait, I forgot to tell him how to come back here…"
Damien had the urge to facepalm himself.
But on second thoughts, he expected Amon to only stay there for a single day.
After that single day, he would create the doorway and head to the star gate location to retrieve the youth.
With that in mind, Damien glanced at Natasha, who was unconscious, and shook his head slightly.
He felt a little melancholic in his heart as memories of something else passed through his mind.
…
While Amon appeared at a different location, in another place entirely…
A lady covered in blood-red robes looked up at another lady with silver hair and eyes before shaking her head.
"Failed… this has consumed all the curse energy I have gathered for a truly long time, but it failed to kill him. It seems someone interfered with it just as it was about to hit him."
The lady with silver eyes pondered for a bit before nodding.
"Okay." She tossed her a bag filled with shimmering transparent crystals and vanished from the location.
"So many low-grade divine crystals…" left alone, the lady mumbled to herself in surprise.
She glanced at the location where the mysterious expert had left and shook her head.
"Strange. She knew so much, and yet she still compensated me…" Truly, she couldn't understand what that mysterious expert was thinking.
But since divine crystals were extremely beneficial to her, she didn't mind them in the slightest.
With excitement in her heart, she stored the divine crystals in her universe ring and then turned her attention back to condensing curse energy.
Truly, she felt some regret for using all the curse energy she had gathered all this while…
