While being chased by the girl for a short while, Fuyu suddenly realized he didn't need to run; she was neither a threat nor an actual danger. He stopped abruptly, looking back with narrowed eyes at the rapidly approaching figure. The girl closed the distance, shouting, "Here, take this, bastard!"
"Got you..." Fuyu whispered. He simply lifted his leg and swiftly struck her wrist, making the wooden stick fly out of her hand. Anasha Val was momentarily stunned as the weapon sailed away. Fiona, watching from behind, cried out, "Sister!"
Anasha clutched her own wrist in slight pain before glancing at her sister. She was determined to escalate the situation for no good reason, but before Fuyu could speak, she attacked again with her bare hands. She was immediately and brutally defeated. Only one word escaped her lips when Fuyu pinned her down, sitting on her back while holding her hand twisted behind her.
"Tsk... Get away from me, you pervert! If you... agghh..." Anasha shouted at him, but Fuyu simply twisted her arm a little harder, making her moan in pain.
"Hey, stop! Leave my sister alone," Fiona's voice cut through, drawing both of their attention. Fuyu saw the younger girl looking at him with a dreadful expression, clearly worried he might injure her sister. Fuyu calmly responded.
"I can, but she is threatening to attack me again if I let go of her," Fuyu clarified in a composed tone, taking the moment to steady his breathing. Anasha struggled fiercely beneath him, trying her best to escape his grip.
"No... no, she won't attack you again. Now, let go of her. You see, if you don't release her, then I might have to use this stick, which I really don't want to do..." Fiona said, her tone uneasy. She was genuinely afraid Fuyu would hurt Anasha, which compelled her to make the threat, though in truth, she would naturally avoid such confrontations.
"Alright, I'll let go of her, but you must stop her if she attacks me again," Fuyu said before easing his weight off Anasha's soft backside slightly. However, as he moved, Anasha immediately became aggressive, threatening to kill him the moment she was free.
Hearing her words, Fuyu promptly sat back down on top of her before telling Fiona that Anasha was causing trouble for both of them.
"Sister, stop behaving like that. He doesn't want to hurt you. You are truly making things difficult for him," Fiona pleaded, trying to reason with her sibling, but Anasha just growled in pure anger. Fuyu couldn't help but look helplessly at Fiona.
"Sister, stop being so stubborn. It's not like he actually did anything to you. In fact, you are the one causing trouble for him," Fiona insisted, trying to make her understand.
"No, he did,he's still doing it! Once I get away from here, he can pray to God for his life," Anasha retorted with a fierce expression. Fuyu felt an overwhelming urge to simply silence the girl by ruthlessly crushing her skull under his palm, but he restrained himself because Fiona was present. When Fiona heard her sister's words, she fell silent for a moment, realizing how foolish her sister was being.
"He isn't creating problems for you; you are inviting trouble upon yourself. Just let him go, and it's fine. He didn't even attack you, even after you hit him twice with the stick," Fiona thought. Fuyu's voice snapped her back to attention, and she replied.
"Oh, the exit from here? Well, it's this way. If you follow it straight, you'll exit the area," Fiona explained, as Fuyu had asked her about the way out. Anasha shouted loudly not to tell the "pervert" the way to escape, but they both ignored her as Fuyu then asked about the location of his own village.
"Oh, that's our neighboring tribe, situated where this river originates. It's about three hours of walking to reach there. And if you go from..." Fiona explained a bit before sighing. "I'm afraid I only know that much about the path, but along the way, you might find a few people who travel there to trade goods."
"Oh, thank you for telling me. It's much easier to speak with intelligent people like yourself. Thank you, I'm leaving. Please hold her; don't let her run after me," Fuyu said.
"Oh, alright, but why don't you tell me about yourself—who are you and what were you doing here?" Fiona asked, her curiosity piqued. Surprisingly, Anasha remained pinned down without causing too much disruption to their conversation, though Fuyu could feel her wiggling beneath him—not enough to break his grip, however.
"Well, I don't have much time, but I'll make it quick. I was trying to find something, but night fell while I was in the Demonic Beast's Nightmares Forest. I accidentally fell into the river late last night and somehow managed to escape that deadly situation. Then you found me, and this girl started attacking me for no reason," Fuyu explained. Anasha beneath him immediately shouted, "You are lying, and get off me, you bastard! My body is being crushed under your weight!" Fuyu simply hummed in response.
"Oh, that's quite interesting. But what were you doing in the Demonic Beast's Nightmares Forest? Isn't it known to be fearfully haunted and full of deadly Beasts?" Fiona asked with keen interest. She truly was a curious girl.
"Ahm... that is true, but to be honest, I didn't find anything worth mentioning. I didn't venture deep into the forest, so I can't say much," Fuyu replied truthfully.
"Hmm... you can consider yourself incredibly lucky to have returned safely from that forest, and even after falling into the river last night, you were saved. That truly is a pure miracle," Fiona stated. Fuyu looked at her, unsure what to say, but suddenly realized he had been away from his hut all night, and others would be pointlessly worrying. Fuyu thought this before speaking.
"Well, that's true. But I need to go now. Please hold her; I must leave," Fuyu said as he finally got up from Anasha's buttocks and rushed toward the forest exit. Fiona immediately helped Anasha stand up.
"Sister, are you alright?" Fiona asked, but instead of answering, Anasha yelled loudly at Fuyu, "Where are you running, pervert?"
"Huh? Seriously, Sister, stop... wait, I forgot to ask what this lucky boy's name is, the one who survived so many things last night," Fiona thought. She then shouted after the running Fuyu, asking for his name, and he replied just before disappearing from their sight.
"Oh, Fuyu... I see. My name is Fiona Val..." Fiona shouted loudly, but no response came. "Haha... it seems I really scared him. He ran so fast..." Anasha laughed in satisfaction. Although she wanted to beat him more, she was content that she had scared him enough to make him flee like a rat. Fiona smiled and hummed before both sisters headed toward the river, as they had originally come here for a bath and a walk. There were other females around the bathing area as well.
"Shit, I need to hurry up," Fuyu thought. He hadn't yet secured the flower he sought, nor had he informed anyone of his whereabouts, and he had been absent for the whole damn night. Everyone would undoubtedly be angry and worried for no good reason. But even as he ran with all his might to get back home, Vasana urged him to return to the location where he had found the first flower. Although remembering the exact spot would be impossible for a normal person, Fuyu had a slight memory of it, realizing he needed to walk along the river to pinpoint the location.
"If I can find it, that's great; if not, then I'll just head back home," Fuyu decided, but he suddenly froze in place. "What the heck! I've been searching for this for over a week, and this..." Fuyu was speechless when he saw what looked like a garden of those Nil Kamal Pusp near the riverbank—not one or two, but hundreds of them.
"I just started on the way back and already found these. It seems there are many of these flowers here. But I don't understand: has no one found or used these flowers before me?" Fuyu wondered. In truth, many people had found this unusual flower, but they knew it only as a poisonous substance; anyone who ingested it died of poisoning. While many had taken the flower home for the stunning glow it emitted at night, no one actually knew how to refine it to make it less poisonous and safe for use.
Fuyu was immensely surprised. He plucked a few flowers while mentally marking the area, realizing there were many of these flowers scattered along the path.
"But didn't the Scriptures say these flowers are very rare to find? Then how come they are in such abundance?" Fuyu asked in confusion.
"Hmm... it is said they are rare to find, but it doesn't preclude finding them in abundance. Just like you can't find gold or diamond in any random place because they are rare, that doesn't mean one cannot find a gold or diamond mine," Vasana explained simply. Fuyu understood the logic. Feeling delighted at the thought of soon becoming rich if he successfully refined the flowers, he continued his journey back home.
