Before they entered the room, several scenarios played over in their heads.

Could Michael be at death's door? After all, no matter how powerful an individual, if they were mortal, they could die, and an assassination was vastly different than an open battle with aliens.

That was why, despite having faith in his abilities, they had been so worried for his safety.

Yet the scene before them was unlike what they expected.

The interior of the room was a mess. Numerous deep cracks were running over the walls created by the battle.

And about twenty corpses were lying on the ground.

"It's good that they sent the Venomous Lotus. Since they don't know me, they wouldn't know that their tactics would be useless against me." Michael chuckled dryly.

Unsurprisingly, the woman that had tried to seduce him was the strongest one among them. The higher the cultivation of a person, the more beautiful they would be.

Meanwhile, the other members of the Venomous Lotus were of the Adept realm. When they had shown themselves, Michael attacked them, leaving only the one in his grip alive.

Despite being stronger than them, he had accumulated several injuries over his body, but in the end he won nevertheless.

"Oh, you came faster than expected." Calming down, Michael finally noticed the three women that had come to his aid.

"W—What happened?!" Ava instantly pressed him for answers, inspecting his wounds.

Yet in the process she froze, her body running hotter than when she had been in the hot spring.

He shrugged. "A half-naked woman attempted to seduce me with her body. I saw past her act and forced her accomplices to show themselves. Killing them quickly, I left the one that attempted to charm me alive since she appears to know the most."

Blinking several times over, the women shifted their gazes to the unconscious woman.

Michael noticed an intense hatred in their gazes. It appeared that they despised the assassin even more fiercely than the aliens.

"Are you sure you were alright? You could have been poisoned without you knowing it." Victoria exclaimed in worry, taking hold of his arm.

"...?"

Her eyes enlarged. Was she acting weird, or did Michael always smell so good?

'Why does he seem so… different?' Against her wishes, her breathing turned erratic, the blood in her veins rising.

"Oh, I was poisoned actually. They must have sneaked in when I was out and hid it in my room." Michael said casually.

"Do you know what the poison was?!" Claire knew how dangerous toxins could be. Concerned, she stepped forward.

Yet her body froze before being able to examine his condition. She was struck by the intense feeling that had affected Ava and Victoria.

Michael chuckled. "Aphrodisiac, an uncommon poison to use but one that would usually work on most targets."

It was quite unfortunate for them. Michael had reached the very pinnacle of power in his prior life. And one could not just stumble on such grand might without having complete control over their emotions.

One of the reasons he was taking care of his crew was to keep his emotions alive. Otherwise he would have turned into an emotionless killing machine, and he didn't want to lose one of the things that made him human.

Not in this life, at least…

"Is something wrong?" Noting that the women had gone quiet, he turned to their side.

To his bewilderment they were staring at him with intense gazes, their faces getting rosy.

For a fraction of a second his breath halted. Unknown to him, they had followed his advice, going toward a hot spring early in the morning, resulting in their enhanced appearance and slightly wet hair.

The drug that polluted the air certainly didn't help him keep a level-headed mind.

'Kill the fucking wretch! I refuse to let the matter go. Plagues like her need to be exterminated before she can spread her evil!' Devil's Tongue raged in fury. This was the first time the soul weapon had displayed such intense hatred.

Shaking his head, Michael ignored the effects of the still lingering aphrodisiac and glanced at the unconscious woman.

With a sigh, he injected her with several healing syringes, fixing her damaged throat.

"What… happened?" She mumbled tiredly, opening her eyes.

"...!"

Her pulse quickened seeing Michael staring over her with crimson eyes. The three women next to him looked even more fearsome than him, like predators about to tear their prey apart.

The corpses of her allies certainly didn't help the woman calm down.

"How did you kill them?!" A terrified cry escaped her mouth as she began to limp backwards.

This was supposed to be an easy job! Seduce a man, and strike when his guard is lowered. The people with her were in case things got out of hand and the target had to be silenced at a moment's notice.

Yet the plan was for her to help them the entire time. No one had expected that she, an Expert, would be the one getting outplayed instead!

"You aren't in the position to be asking questions." Michael pointed at her with Devil's Tongue.

"Let's start with how you sneaked into my room and where the drug is."

With a frown the woman bit her tongue. The core lesson of the Venomous Lotus was to never reveal information.

"Uncooperative. Well, my soul weapon will certainly enjoy what comes next…" He stepped forward, ready to make the woman talk.

But before he could, a soft hand settled on his shoulder, stopping him.

"Could we deal with her? This is between us women." Victoria said with a serious tone.

Seeing the eager nods of the other two, Michael chuckled.

"Sure."

He had assumed that they weren't going to be able to extract the necessary information. Since the members of the Venomous Lotus were trained to withstand torture.

Yet to his surprise, Ava, Victoria, and Claire proved to be extremely brutal in their methods. Almost like they had done this a thousand times… Or like they had a personal agenda against the assassin.

Aside from the woman's screams, the only thing Michael was able to hear was the ragged laughter of Devil's Tongue enjoying the spectacle.

By the time day had arrived, they had extracted all valuable information out of the assassin.
