"I trust that you haven't missed the arrival of the forces?" Alice said, observing the people that gathered around her.
"Even to me it was a great shock when I saw so many Lords entering our city. Still, this shows that the Lord of Azure is willing to do anything to wipe out the threat!"
Thanks to her words, the eyes of the soldiers began to sparkle with determination. With so many Lords by their side, victory was assured!
"Our orders are simple. After sealing the portal, we will surround the city and begin to move deeper. We aren't going to halt our advance until every alien threat perishes!"
"Glory to Mankind!" The soldiers saluted in absolute respect.
Similar speeches were being given across the whole city. Rallying the troops into an unstoppable unit.
Then, utilizing the operational train trails that the aliens had left working as welcome, they sped off towards Celestia.
In order to ensure that there are no unexpected surprises. The mighty Lords made the choice to float over the trains, exterminating everything in their path.
This not only improved their movement speed since the train operators didn't have to be careful about running into alien obstacles, but it also inspired the soldiers.
Divinity itself was on their side. Not even the Overlord could pose a threat against such force!
Faster than ever before, they reached the city. The deadly battlefield that resulted from the battle for the city appeared over the horizon.
Yet unlike before, the soldiers didn't feel fear creep into their hearts. Now that they had a true force to deal with the threat, one emotion reigned supreme above all else.
Rage.
The aliens were about to experience the hatred humanity was truly capable of.
"Visual confirmation!"
The first target they set their eyes on was the General portal.
Before the normal troops could act, the Lords exchanged glances.
Swush!
Floating with such speed that to the soldiers' eyes it was akin to teleportation, they reached the portal.
BOOM!
Smoke rose in the air. Under the coordinated strength of the Lords, the portal was sealed in mere seconds.
"Humanity was born to inherit the stars!"
Cheers spread over the human ranks. In the span of a mere minute, the only route where the aliens could escape to had been cut off.
They were stranded in the city and surrounded on all sides!
"..."
Michael observed silently. He didn't miss that from the moment he laid his eyes on the portal to its sealment, not a single being had come from the other side.
What's more, no alien showed itself from Celestia with the intent to stop the human troops.
Not the Overlord, not disguised Generals… nothing.
The ones that noticed that assumed the aliens were simply scared, but Michael knew better.
His mind went into overdrive as he connected the pieces, from the first day in Triton up until now.
Each tactic he had learned in his prior life, the smallest clues most overlooked.
"Oh…"
A smile tugged his lips.
"Now it makes sense…"
The only active quest he had at the moment, Liberate Neptune, and the great threat that lingers on the surface of the planet.
With a sigh he allowed his body to relax.
'If I were a bit later to realize their true goal, a catastrophe would have followed.'
Truly it was a hassle, since he intended to change the order of events. His knowledge of the future was becoming more obsolete.
However, he was still far away from letting the aliens get their way. Some humans could be left to do as they wished for now, since there were more pressing matters, but the same wasn't true for the alien threat. It took absolute priority.
"I know that you have felt frustrated by our loss. Today is the day you redeem yourself!" Michael addressed his crew, boosting their morale.
Enzo hit his two gauntlets together in eagerness, the others mirroring his resolve.
"Knowing how much you have progressed, I have full faith in your abilities to be fine on your own. I will abstain from this battle, with more pressing matters to attend to."
Victoria nodded. "You plan to search for Peter and his Adepts, right?"
It was the only logical conclusion.
In response, Michael simply smiled, not giving her any kind of confirmation.
[Dash activated]
[Warlock activated]
Using Fade and his other techniques, Michael raced toward the city as the army was about to unleash its hellfire.
"Here it is!"
The backs of the soldiers drenched in sweat the second they laid their eyes on the Overlord.
The tyrannical being was still in the form of the former Lord of Celestia. A gruesome smile tugged its lips as it stood at the highest point in the city. Like an untouchable god, which was above any life.
"As per agreement."
Exchanging nods, the Lords acted. An Overlord was unpredictable by nature. The sooner it perished, the better, for their image.
Whoosh!
Unwilling to save strength, they encircled the monster that stood with hands cupped behind its back.
"HAHAHA! Ten Lords have come to pay me a visit?!"
The tyrannical laughter that exploded from its maw shook the ground.
With narrowed eyes, the ten Lords observed the monster's features. A single second was enough to deduce the being didn't carry a trump card as a last resort.
It really was arrogant enough to challenge them alone.
"Extermination commencing…" A beautiful woman with an appearance akin to a goddess said coldly. This was the ruler of Vespera.
BANG!
Explosions began to resonate in the center of Celestia. The Lords had officially begun their assault.
Simultaneously, the soldiers raced towards the city's gates. With their rulers at the very front, they felt confident enough to take on any General that dared to interrupt their path.
Roar!
Naturally the aliens moved to face the human forces with the intent to slaughter them. Whether Lesser or Generals, the Overlord had commanded them to protect the settlement with their lives.
While they moved away from the godlike battle commencing at the center. A lone figure raced amidst the chaos to the very core of the city.
With emotionless eyes and a clear mind, Michael traversed the settlement undetected, with Devil's Tongue in one hand and Heaven's Judgment in the other.
He was getting closer…
