An Expert daring to give orders to Grandmasters was simply unheard of. Depending on the military base, the Expert would face expulsion, prison, or even execution in certain places.
Yet Michael's assessment had arrived so quickly, in a time of need, that these high-standing soldiers that would never stoop so low as to follow the orders of those below them obeyed without hesitation.
Instantly Michael focused on his target. Pointing Heaven's Judgment towards the General, he activated the weapon's hook.
Swosh!
The hook latched onto the threatening creature, pulling Michael toward the target. As he neared, he fired the shotgun at point-blank range while simultaneously slashing with Devil's Tongue.
Successfully, Michael caught the creature off guard the moment its defenses lowered.
Boom!
"You fuck!"
Wounded, the General bellowed, swinging with its arm.
Michael's eyes narrowed. Predicting the alien's movements with Parallel Sight, he ducked just in time.
Killing intent leaked out of the alien, feeling humiliated by being hurt by a simple Peak Expert.
"Boss is a menace!" Richard exclaimed joyfully, appearing next to the General a second later.
BOOM!
Taken by surprise yet again, the monster was swept off its feet and flung to the side like a ragdoll. Colliding with a nearby wall, it broke past it, a testament to the Master's raw power.
"HAHAHA! Fighting with the Boss is the best!"
In unison the two pounced on the alien. Rather than focusing on how the others were facing, Michael concentrated on killing his foe as fast as possible. He had spent enough time with his crew to have full faith in their abilities.
"You insects!" With a roar, the General met the two men in fury.
In a matter of seconds, numerous blows were exchanged. Richard's lip was busted, blood seeping from the wound, while Michael's hand took significant damage. Yet, the General found itself far more injured.
"Impossible!" The alien cried. Not only was it on the losing end, but the humans it was fighting were smiling!
"Not bad, Boss! I can see why you were so confident that you would be able to kill me if things got up to that point!" Richard praised.
In turn, Michael arched a brow. "You think this is all I can do? Far from it! Let's see if you can keep up."
[Warlock activated]
[Dash activated]
Richard's smile widened. If his boss was able to move so swiftly despite being an entire realm lower than him, then he really was a monster!
The Master was willing to go above and beyond his limits, all just to match Michael's efforts!
Gradually the anger of the alien faded, a terror slowly settling in its heart.
"AHHH!"
The monster screamed, being forced to go all out just to prevent the two men from dealing the final blow.
"HAHAHA!" Richard met the alien's cry with a laughter of his own. He never knew he could move so fast!
"Bear witness to humanity's might!" Michael struck even more fear in the monster's soul as he severed the alien's arm.
'Feed me more blood!' Devil's Tongue demanded, tasting the General's vitality.
"Stay away! Please forgive my arrogance!" The alien pleaded, sensing that the end was near.
"Forgiveness?" A dry chuckle escaped Michael's mouth as he stepped over the creature's head.
"Forgiveness is nothing more than excuses made by the weak that cannot seek revenge due to their lack of power and courage."
Disregarding the General's pleas, he drove his soul weapon deep in the monster's skull, putting an end to its miserable life.
"Who is next?!"
A single glance into Richard's eyes made it clear. He was far from satisfied. Moments where he could fight alongside his Boss were rare.
Wordlessly Michael concentrated on the hive's queen in the far distance. Even if they were to kill all six Generals of the Etrox race, the queen alone could put an end to their mission with the help of her minions.
Fortunately, Michael's assessment had proved to be correct. The four Grandmasters had successfully managed to overwhelm her in the span of a few seconds, putting an end to her reign.
Of course, during the brief exchange, they hadn't bothered with defense, focusing solely on offense. As a result, numerous deep wounds were running across their bodies.
They wouldn't be able to help the other soldiers, since they were essentially at death's door.
BZZZZ!
Naturally, once the connection to their ruler was cut off, the swarm went into a frenzy. Some began to disperse, flying far away from the settlement. Others began to attack everything in their path. Regardless if it was an ally or a foe.
"God help me!"
"Retreat!"
Part of the soldiers that had focused on preventing the Generals from aiding the queen were taken by surprise by the Ro'trah's assault.
Some of them were going to die.
"Focus on killing the Generals." Michael ordered Richard. If they waited for the Ro'trah to disperse, it would give the remaining Generals time to regroup and strategize. With most of the Grandmasters already out of the picture, that would lead to disaster.
"Sure thing, Boss!" The man said. Going to aid Cyberfang and the members of their crew that fought alongside the metallic beast.
Meanwhile, Michael joined Ava, Victoria, and Claire in their battle against the General.
He didn't expect them to defeat the monster so quickly with just the three of them.
Yet when he found them, he was momentarily taken aback.
Ridden with holes, the corpse of a General lay on the ground, its limbs scratched around.
Above it, the three women stood alive and severely exhausted. Their chests rose and fell abruptly, panting heavily for air.
The protective armor that had served them well was seriously damaged, and with their spiritual energy drained from the battle, they couldn't repair it. As a result, patches of their smooth skin were exposed to the outside. Like a tasty treat for the ravaging Ro'trah.
"L—Look, we did it! It won't be long before I am able to take care of Generals single-handedly!" Ava declared, resting on her giant hammer.
BZZZZ!
Attracted by the showcase of their milky white skin, the Ro'trah moved towards them, eager to devour them alongside their bones.
"Take refuge in a shelter until the enemy disperses!" He commanded. Knowing their personality, they would have rushed in to help the other soldiers, putting their lives at risk.
"What about you?" Claire asked, trying to keep away from the troublesome creatures.
"Worry about yourself! I will come later!" Not elaborating further, Michael reunited with Richard. As ordered, the man had sent every soldier he had encountered to a safe place.
"Boss, I'm going crazy from the buzzing of those little fuckers! What are we supposed to do?"
"Make sure that all of Etrox's Generals are dead and recover every soldier we see dead or alive."
In order to hear each other, they were forced to shout at the top of their lungs. In seconds their bodies accumulated numerous injuries.
"How long will we withstand this onslaught?" Richard asked with a hint of concern.
"I don't know. Why don't we find out who can last longer?" Michael challenged the Master in an attempt to ignite his determination.
"HAHAHA! The bet is on!"
Fortunately, the gamble worked flawlessly.
