Supreme Paragon Reborn: Humanity’s Rise To Galactic Supremacy

Chapter 206: Emperor’s Order

Among the abysmal darkness of the cosmos, several figures were gathered. Millions of small asteroids floating around them.

"Hah, why do I have to waste my damn time? For a delusional woman on top of that…" A male voice sounded.

With a deep sigh, the man took a comb out of his pocket as he styled his raven-black hair backward, his eyes mirroring the abysmal darkness around him.

His casual demeanor was to be expected. After all, he was King Zaiden, the founder and leader of the Immortal Legion.

The person he had addressed was perhaps the strangest person of the bunch. Holding an authority rivaling a King was Queen Seer, though because she hadn't bothered to create a faction, few knew of her existence. Her blonde hair cascaded down her waist, her eyes hidden by a white blindfold woven with black edges.

"Even an oracle, like myself, is taken by surprise sometimes." Seer said somberly. "Around the beginning of October, fate began to shift abruptly, as if something, or someone, powerful enough to alter the course of the future appeared out of nowhere. There is only so much I can do."

Zaiden scoffed coldly.

"Excuses, excuses, excuses. That is why giving any authority to women was a mistake. If you had simply stayed obedient and made babies like you were meant to, we wouldn't be in such a situation."

"Mind your tongue." A stern female voice interjected. Her crimson eyes and hair were unmistakable as Queen Esmeralda, the founder of the Bloody Rose.

King Zaiden chuckled darkly. "To think that one of the Cursed Children… A woman, no less, dares to speak to me like an equal; it makes me sick in the stomach."

Taking a few steps forward, Zaiden's eyes darkened, becoming blacker than the cosmos itself.

"If anybody is displeased with how I carry myself, they may challenge me to a death duel. I would gladly accept any invite."

Anticipating trouble ahead, a bald man with empty eye sockets clapped his hands together.

"Let's try to not kill ourselves as soon as we meet after so long, alright?" He was King Mateo, Heavenly Pact's leader.

"Noble cause as always, though you do understand that your words have to be backed by power, right? Among you all I am undeniably the strongest, so I might do as I wish." Zaiden shrugged.

"Courting death!" Esmeralda bellowed.

"Have I misspoken?" Zaiden smiled. "Even the art of cooking is dominated by males at the very top… Just like any other profession to have ever been created."

Tilting his head to the side, Zaiden added.

"Though of course, women can compensate for the difference if they make use of their alluring bodies, usually by not wearing anything, as they deliver me my platter of food." He chuckled once more. "Again, it all points to one conclusion: aside from babymaking, women are pretty much useless. Their emotions are a hindrance, their weaknesses a liability..."

Just as Esmeralda was about to pounce, Seer's unaffected voice stopped her.

"Remember, he is trying to agitate you by any means necessary. Don't give in to the temptation."

Clicking his tongue in displeasure, Zaiden turned his back.

"Cowards, all of you know I am the strongest among you. That is why I remain unchallenged. None of you have the necessary guts."

At that moment a cold voice drifted in the air.

"Ho? Would you dare say these words in my presence?"

In that moment King Arthur, the leader of the Golden Vanguard, the strongest faction, materialized.

Zaiden's smile grew forced.

"Perhaps I wouldn't, for now… But who knows what the future holds? Even Seer, the almighty oracle, doesn't!" Zaiden joked, erupting into a chilling laughter that seemed to resonate through the entire cosmos.

King Arthur stared at King Zaiden in cold indifference, while the latter had an amused smile spread across his face.

"Nonetheless, if you were to challenge me, I would gladly accept."

Zaiden crept closer.

"That is only if you are ready to part with a large portion of your faction in the aftermath that will follow."

Before the situation could escalate, Seer spoke with a trembling voice.

"It's undeniable. It's really coming."

Esmeralda frowned. "What do you see?"

Seer's face grandly got paler. "Eyes, many… too many to count. Maw capable of swallowing planets whole. Countless races brought to ruin by its rampage."

Groaning, Zaiden muttered.

"For fuck's sake, how long until the Emperor joins us?"

With everybody's mood growing darker, nobody spoke a word until a silhouette slowly neared.

Crimson eyes and hair, with a face bearing an uncanny resemblance to Queen Esmeralda.

King Owen, the leader of the Sacred Order.

"What did the Emperor say? When is he coming to our aid?" Queen Esmeralda asked, not beating around the bush.

Remaining silent for a few seconds, King Owen spoke solemnly.

"Father—"

He shook his head a moment later, a somber smile crossing his face.

"Blessed are we, for the Emperor has graced us with his order. His order states…"

Owen's voice wasn't loud, yet it easily reached the ears of the ones gathered.

"Prove your worth."

"..."

The Kings and Queens froze for a moment, wondering if their ears had betrayed them.

Among the suffocating silence a low laughter echoed.

"HAHAHA! Prove your worth he says… Oh, we are so screwed. Even if we win today, humanity is utterly doomed under the Emperor's rule!"

Zaiden's laughter continued as the nearby asteroids suddenly halted in place. Otherworldly energy stirring in the empty space.

Whoosh!

Faster than a heartbeat, an impossibly large portal opened, and slowly an entity drifted from the other side.

Skin thicker than a planet's crust, an eye rivaling the size of a moon, and countless smaller eyes scattered across its sides, all observing the world with calculated coldness. A giant maw gaped wide, revealing countless rows of teeth buried deep within the monster's throat.

Exchanging glances, the gathered Kings and Queens summoned their weapons and treasures, not sparing any trump cards against their foe.

After centuries of rule, they had grown numb to fear… Or so they thought, until they faced a monster of truly colossal proportions for the first time:

A Titan.
