Stirring with unparalleled power, the otherworldly entity crept closer. Nearby asteroids shattered, unable to withstand the pressure the Titan was emitting.
Gone was any trace of hesitation among the Kings' and Queens' expressions. Spreading into a half circle, they formed a wall, stopping the terrifying alien from continuing forward.
Hrrrrr
A low growl escaped the Titan's maw, a menacing voice sounding out a second later.
"Take me to your leader."
Surprisingly, the Titan was able to speak the human tongue; even more curious, it had stooped low enough to use it.
Noticing that his teammates were too cautious to speak, King Zaiden smiled before replying.
"Why would we do that?" His tone was laced with mockery, despite speaking to an alien akin to a deity.
"I have long grown bored of alien demands. Why don't you turn back and leave the area? Otherwise, we just might turn you into a few fancy treasures after dealing with you…"
Seemingly used to King Zaiden's sharp tongue, the Kings and Queens kept their eyes on the Titan cautiously.
Amused, the giant eye at the center of the Titan blinked once, as if confirming that someone as insignificant as Zaiden had truly dared to speak to it in such a tone.
Whoosh!
Before anybody could react, a beam of pure energy formed inside the Titan's maw. Instantly it shot forward, piercing Zaiden's body, erasing his upper torso.
Understandably, after his death, his body could no longer float and instead plummeted through the endless expanse of the cosmos.
"I am not going to repeat myself." The Titan's tone grew colder. Killing one of the humans was meant as a demonstration of how easily it could dispose of the rest. The only reason it had not done so already was because it judged that forcing them to lead it to their leader would be faster.
Yet strangely enough, the expressions of the gathered humans didn't sour.
"Hahaha. That really hurt you, fuck."
Caught off guard, the Titan gazed at its side. There Zaiden stood calmly using his comb to style his raven-black hair backward; a black liquid akin to oil trailed from his eyes, painting his face into a horrifying picture.
"It's not a coincidence that the faction I rule is called Immortal Legion. You know… 'Immortal'."
Erupting into maniacal laughter, Zaiden pounced forward.
"Such a shame that no one possesses my level of intellect to appreciate my humor."
"Your sense of comedy is simply lacking." Taking advantage of the distraction, King Arthur didn't hesitate to flank the Titan, unleashing his full might.
"Hear me, souls imprisoned by the intruder. Come forth and pass judgment upon your executioner." Seer whispered like a chant, a treasure in the form of a golden book materializing before her.
"I am a pacifist by nature. Sadly nature isn't as peaceful as I wish it was." King Mateo mumbled, moving at a speed akin to a meteor soaring to the Titan.
"This has to be the worst matchup against us." Queen Esmeralda clutched her fist, throwing a glance at King Owen.
"Brother, don't you dare slow me down, you hear?"
In response, the King merely chuckled.
"I see you overestimate yourself quite greatly, sister. Well, whatever, as they say, living in delusion is sometimes better than facing the truth head-on."
Instantly the two began to move in perfect harmony, positioning themselves beneath the Titan.
Across the endless cosmos, explosions of every shape and color erupted, forming a battlefield so terrifying even the nearby fronts paused in the middle of their fights.
The cannons of the numerous spaceships cooled off, and gazes of humans and aliens alike locked onto the faraway clash in pure admiration.
No matter how the battles had unfolded until now, it all proved meaningless. The outcome would be determined by the leaders, whose victory would seal the fate of the lesser participants.
After all, no mortal human would dare go against a Titan, nor would any alien stand against humanity's Kings and Queens.
Hours dragged on as smoke thickened across the cosmos, obscuring the godlike clash. Only the explosions and roars remained perceptible past the veil.
At the end, numerous cracks ran across the Titan's surface, thousands of its eyes were blinded, and its form was severely reduced.
Yet it still floated whole, while a few of the human challengers had already reached their limit.
'Is this as far as I go?' Esmeralda thought, moments away from her death.
But at the next moment the Titan froze, and so did the eyes scattered around its gruesome figure.
The Kings and Queens, who were about to deliver their strikes, halted as well, sweat starting to form on their foreheads.
Step.
The spiritual energy that had been released by the clash stirred, guided towards a single source.
Step.
Minutes, perhaps seconds, before the fight had reached its climax, everything in the vicinity came to a complete halt.
Not frozen in space or time, of course.
This was simply the result of primal instincts of self-preservation taking over.
"Considering that I didn't gather all of you… Not too bad, I suppose."
Thub! Thub! Thub!
King Arthur was not exempt from the rest; he too did not dare to move without permission. His heart raced as he felt a towering figure suddenly loom behind him.
A second that stretched into eternity later, he felt a pat on the shoulder.
"Good job." The voice praised materializing in front of Zaiden a moment later.
With an audible gulp, the man slowly raised his head upwards.
Zaiden instantly regretted his decision.
Towering at two meters, crimson hair flowed like a mesmerizing waterfall, eyes blazing a shade darker than blood. A sharp jawline and slightly frowned brows exuded undeniable authority.
"Your Imperial Majesty." Zaiden murmured barely above a whisper. "I cherish this moment, for the Emperor has personally graced me with his presence."
"..."
Wordlessly the Emperor extended his hand, taking a firm hold of Zaiden's collar, and forced him to stand up.
"I heard that you were displeased with my orders." The Emperor spoke void of any emotions.
"Should you perhaps be dissatisfied with my rule, you can always challenge me to a death duel. I would gladly accept any invite." The Emperor said calmly, making it clear that he had heard everything, even the exchanged banter between his subordinates before the fight began.
Smiling nervously, Zaiden shook his head. "No, thank you. I value my life very much."
With a scoff, the Emperor let go, giving nods towards Seer and Mateo, clearly content with their performance.
"As for you two…" With voice growing colder for the first time, the Emperor stared at Owen and Esmeralda menacingly.
"I expected more."
The Emperor proclaimed his assessment finished.
"Is this supposed to be your leader?"
Finally managing to recover from its shock, the Titan spoke once more.
"Took you long enough. Your lackeys proved to be a bigger challenge than an—"
"Shhh."
Gently placing a finger over his lips, the Emperor silenced the Titan.
"You proved useful in testing the progress on my subjects. However, you still invaded my land, challenged my subjects, and spoke to me like we are equals."
Extending his finger, the Emperor passed his verdict.
"Kill yourself as an apology."
"..."
Blinking slowly, the Titan stared at the human ruler in disbelief. Its confusion never truly settled, as the next moment all of its eyes, the center one included, turned black before erupting in a violent burst, blood rushing wildly in every direction.
Staining the cosmos with its life essence, the alien drifted uncontrollably, every trace of life dispersing.
The Titan was no more.
