Supreme Paragon Reborn: Humanity’s Rise To Galactic Supremacy

Chapter 51: A Sun Upon the Ice

'Hey, Mister Owner, I think the Berserker technique you are using is starting to affect your mind... Not that I mind, HAHAHA!' Devil's Tongue spoke in Michael's head, seeing the rage he was unleashing upon the aliens.

"This is just how I am! These creatures came threatening the safety of our race. It's only natural that I feel happy when I tear them apart!" He said with a smile on his face.

Swosh!

Unfortunately for Michael, his advantage was quickly disappearing. With so many dead bodies left in his wake, the nearby aliens began to focus on him instead of pursuing after the army.

Of course, with 100,000 aliens in their ranks, the ones that were after him might have looked small in comparison. Yet it was a number that he should have no business trying to handle.

'The pain is just in your head. Ignore it and it will pass away.' He thought, not slowing down despite his limbs starting to feel heavier.

Several hours later, Michael had managed to reach the four-digit kill count, yet he wasn't even close to slaying 20,000.

"The difficulty of this quest really is insane." He chuckled, his forehead drenched in sweat.

With the combined efforts of the generals and captains, with the common soldiers providing support as they withdrew, they had managed to create some distance.

"The troops have made some distance. Follow after them!" Victoria called out, her eyes quickly counting the number of captains.

'Six are missing, most likely dead.'

While they had managed to halt the alien army, some broke through the ranks and reached the common soldiers, killing many in the process, yet it was nothing compared to a dead captain.

Victoria didn't like to put value on a human's life since it was priceless. However, in wartime, one person that had reached a higher realm was worth much more than a hundred soldiers that had barely started their cultivation journey.

"Little junior, retreat. I will cover your back!" She shouted, gaze moving towards Ava, who had stubbornly remained at her side.

"NO! Until I see Michael come out of there, I am not moving!" She protested, her hammer shaking the ground beneath her, smashing the head of an Elite.

"You staying here will hold me back, and I won't be able to help him! Didn't you come here to help me? Then listen to my orders!"

Ava gritted her teeth in frustration, retreating as ordered.

The captains began to follow after the common soldiers that were still unleashing hellfire on the aliens while the two generals remained at the front.

"Stay back!" Victoria commanded Roy before shifting her gaze towards the enemy lines.

"I hate to use this since it uses a lot of spiritual energy. But I am not planning on losing any more captains, especially not one as talented as you!" She roared, her blue eyes starting to glow with eerie light.

ROOAR!

The nearby Elites sensed the sudden burst of aura that had come from Victoria's body and pounced on her in an attempt to stop her attack.

But due to the bodies of their brethren on the ground obstructing their way, they were too slow.

Victoria's hands moved faster than the Elites could perceive. Her magma sword collided with the ice sheet on which they had been fighting all this time. And melted right through it.

"So much spiritual energy!" Roy exclaimed, eyes narrowed to the size of needles. "Don't tell me that you are about to use a last res—"

Before Roy could finish, Victoria's lips parted, pronouncing a single word.

"Overload."

The next second, the spiritual energy that had gathered around her body went towards her sword, seeping into the ice.

Swoosh!

Everyone that had the misfortune of watching the battlefield had their eyes blinded, both aliens and humans alike. The ice in a 1-kilometer radius lit up as if electromagnetic lightning began raging below it.

BOOM!

The next instant, these lightnings moved upwards in an attempt to escape, reforging the whole ice sheet. Their attempt to escape was a failure, as they froze a meter away from the surface of the ice, creating countless sharp pillars.

And each ice pillar pierced through anything that had the misfortune to stay close to Victoria. Even Roy would have been wounded had he not reacted in time.

This was one of Victoria's trump cards. She had waited to use it all this time since not only would she exhaust most of her power, but she also wasn't able to control the area of effect. If the captains and the common soldiers hadn't retreated, they would have been hit as well, killing thousands in the process.

Even if Michael had been in the middle of being overwhelmed, there was no way he would miss a light that rivaled the sun itself coming from below the ice.

"This was Victoria's attack?" He mumbled, his eyes barely managing to make out her figure in the far distance.

If gazes could kill, this would be one. Michael guessed that she wasn't happy with him going so deep in the enemy ranks away from the others.

His eyes instinctively went towards the window he kept open all this time.

[Quest progression: 2,012/20,000]

"I feel like I am about to pass out, and I am barely 10% of the way there… It seems I have failed." He mumbled in dejection before forgetting about the aliens he had been fighting all this time and dashed toward Victoria.

"She was so nice to open a path for me. Only an idiot would not seize this chance."

Victoria felt a great weight lift from her heart. She knew that Michael was smart, so she wasn't too surprised he had picked up on her intentions. Still, she couldn't help but worry.

"The electromagnetic wave you just used has burned out a lot of your spiritual energy. Would you be able to continue to fight?" Roy asked, seeing her ragged breathing.

"I am fine." She replied calmly, starting to retreat. With Michael coming back, she had no reason to remain on the front.

While the troops had retreated backward, continuing their hellfire on the aliens, a white mecha finally reached the battlefield.

"What the hell happened here?" Claire muttered, seeing the large trail that Michael had left behind in the middle of the enemy's ranks.
