Supreme Paragon Reborn: Humanity’s Rise To Galactic Supremacy

Chapter 52: Seeds of Wrath

"If I count the dead aliens, their numbers would be approximately 100,000. I thought that the command ship was the only real threat to Triton. It seems I was wrong." Claire gritted her teeth in frustration.

She couldn't comprehend how so many foes had remained outside of their grasp.

Making use of being airborne, she took several photos before sending them to the headquarters.

'It would be faster to let them see the disaster rather than explain it.' She thought before descending downwards.

Unlike in a normal fight, she couldn't engage in combat recklessly. With so many aliens, there were bound to be several to shoot and hit her in the process. Of course, her mecha would be able to tank the projectiles just fine, but she didn't want to risk it.

Positioning herself between the retreating soldiers and the approaching alien army, Claire's mecha lit up before sending numerous small rockets outward.

BOOM!

Dozens of explosions resonated on the ice sheet, killing hundreds in the process.

"This is just a drop in the bucket." Claire mumbled, not ceasing to send rockets as fast as she could.

Victoria, who had begun to retreat, passed under Claire's mecha, letting out a sigh of relief.

"At least we have some reinforcements." She exclaimed before looking backward, making sure that Michael was coming.

"To think that the White Angel herself would come to our aid…" Roy felt a great sense of pride when he passed under her. There was no doubt that Victoria and Bryce had been the reason for her fast appearance.

Making a vow to apologize about his arrogant behavior, he continued forward.

Last, Michael passed under Claire's mecha. Rather than mimicking his general's relief, his face was clouded by a frown.

"I fought with everything I had for so long, yet barely managed to kill 2 000 aliens. If an Insane quest is so difficult, then how hard will it be to complete the Protect Triton quest, being categorized as impossible?"

Naturally, Claire paid close attention to who passed under her. She didn't have much of a reaction when it came to the two generals. However, the same couldn't be said about Michael.

'He was further at the enemy's lines than the generals themselves? Is he really mad?' She wondered, eyes going as far as they could, where a trail of bodies still lingered.

'There are about 2,000 corpses there. Don't tell me that one simple captain did all this? Even the generals haven't managed to slaughter so much!'

Michael, not knowing about Claire's thoughts, passed under her, going towards the waiting army.

Once he got enough distance, Claire followed. She didn't have infinite spiritual energy. It was better to retreat than to fight until complete exhaustion.

"Michael!" Rejoining with the rest of the army, Michael found himself being embraced by Ava's hug faster than he could react.

"I am fine. I just wanted to slow them down a little." He reassured her with a warm smile.

"You should have said so earlier! Had I known, I would have joined as well!" Enzo said, puffing out his chest in an attempt to get approval and impress.

"Stop chit-chatting, the threat is still far from being defeated." Amelia sighed, seeing their casual demeanor.

"It's better to be in a good mood than in a bad one, no matter the situation!" Leo retorted, leaving her speechless.

With the reunion over, they joined with the other captains who were about to listen to their generals' commands.

"With the sudden arrival of the White Angel, we have managed to safely retreat. Even if some of us perished, we have kept the losses of our common troops to a minimum. As such, I want to express my gratitude. Once this is all over, I will nominate you for a medal of honor." Victoria began, her eyes observing the gathered personnel.

"Thankfully, it seems our efforts have paid off. The aliens haven't pursued us. Either they are exhausted or don't see the point with their ambush being ruined." Roy added.

While the two continued their speech, Claire descended onto the ground and exited her mecha, heading straight to her grandfather.

"I told you to stay away from trouble!" She pouted before hugging him so tightly it was as if she was about to break his bones.

"Did you, Sunshine? It seems my memory is getting worse since I can't recall that. HAHAHA!" Bryce laughed lightheartedly.

After letting him go, Claire demanded answers. "I want you to recall to me everything that happened!"

With a sigh, Bryce complied. He wasn't about to hide anything from his granddaughter.

"So you mean to tell me that after successfully uncovering the alien's ambush, Captain Michael charged straight into the enemy ranks, even further than the generals, and proceeded to fight nonstop for hours while getting stronger in the process?" She was greatly interested in one particular person that Bryce kept mentioning.

"Pretty much. I don't know if the kid is a genius or has the devil's luck." Bryce shrugged.

'If this is really true, then I must do my best to recruit him to the Heavenly Pact! Even if Grandpa claims he has tried his luck already, I can't just let the matter go!' She made her decision.

With the battle postponed and the captains done with their briefing, all of them went to get rest. Since all of them had been fighting nonstop, most were on the verge of passing out.

Walking in a hurried manner, Claire began to make her way towards Michael's assigned tent.

"Hey, did you see the beauty that just walked by us?!"

"I have never seen her before. I am sure that if there was a woman capable of rivaling Victoria's beauty in the base, I would have remembered her name!"

Since Claire rarely left her mecha and appeared in public view, very few knew how she actually looked. In his prior life, Michael had been able to take a glimpse of her due to sheer luck, leading him to recognize her, but the same couldn't be said about the common soldiers.

After a few minutes, she reached a tent that had been placed further than the rest.

"Weird, the captains are usually placed near the generals. I guess he has requested to be sent further away from the rest. It must be because he wants to rest in peace." Claire guessed, standing before the entrance.

She was about to call out Michael's name but stopped once she picked up the smell of blood.

'Is he under attack?' Without any hesitation, she entered the tent, anticipating the worst.

The first thing she saw was Michael with a blade buried in his abdomen, blood gushing out. He had positioned himself over Carlos, cruelly beating his face to a pulp.
