Supreme Paragon Reborn: Humanity’s Rise To Galactic Supremacy

Chapter 62: Severing the Reinforcements

While the Elites were slowly being overwhelmed by the human forces, their leader was busy running away from the two Grandmasters.

"Where did your arrogance go?!" Nathan laughed out loud, slowly closing in.

"It seems that without your soul attack, you are nothing but a mere insect!" Lucia didn't miss the chance to taunt as well.

Usually, the General would have retorted in some way, but with Michael's power still lingering in its mind, it was unable to think rationally.

'A monster! I am certain that this thing isn't human! Something so young couldn't have attained such power naturally. Whatever it is, it's clear that the threat it represents is too large to be ignored.' The General reasoned.

Conquering Triton wasn't the goal anymore. The alien race must be informed about Michael's existence at all costs. Otherwise, the price they were going to pay for their ignorance would be catastrophic.

Without hesitation, the General contacted the intelligent Elites it had left in charge of the command ship. They were to get out of the moon's orbit as soon as possible.

"Caught you." However, to the alien's horror, Lucia reached its side. Unleashing her full might, she hit the being so hard she sent it flying high into the air.

"Don't even think about it! The ones that will put an end to this monstrosity will be the Immortal Legion!" Nathan, unwilling to let her get the kill, increased his efforts.

Since they were a realm higher than the General and had him cornered, the alien leader's fate was sealed.

The nearby Elites took note of the struggle of their leader but were unable to help. In the might of Grandmasters, the best they could do was stay away.

Up high on the last standing alien ship, a white mecha finally managed to move past its defenses and board it.

"Let's see what you are hiding in there!" Claire shouted, tearing large chunks out of the ship before entering. Like moths, the other mechas in the area took note of her success and made use of the small gap in defense she had made.

"Good work, White Angel!" They praised in unison, infiltrating the ship's corridors.

Usually, it wasn't a smart idea to enter enemy territory unprepared, but their mechas provided enough protection to deal with anything they could have on board.

Like bulls, they began to tear through the ship's interior, searching for where the Elites were coming from.

"Here!" Claire's eyes gleamed once she found a portal from which dozens of Elites were slowly exiting.

"I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. Just because their ship could hold a large number of troops doesn't mean the majority didn't arrive through the portal."

Quickly informing her teammates about the enemy's use of portals, they began to search for them.

With time, the pods carrying Elites slowed down until they came to a halt. The command ship had taken too much damage. The aliens wouldn't receive reinforcements from now on.

"I can feel our victory approaching!"

"Crush every single one of them!"

Back on the ground, the soldiers felt their spirits blaze even brighter. Certain of their victory, they increased their efforts even more.

Roar!

The revelation that their leader was on the verge of death and their ship almost destroyed caused the Elites to realize they would soon meet their maker. But being surrounded on all sides, the only thing they could do was struggle until their inevitable end.

"We have done enough. Let's retreat and take a breather." Ava suggested.

The squad complied, moving backward and letting the generals deal with the rest. Michael was among them. Even though he could kill Elites solo, that didn't mean it was an easy feat by any means.

He needed to be careful of his stamina. It was a common occurrence for soldiers to charge into the enemy ranks when they earned a power boost, only to overestimate themselves and end up dead.

"You… How are you so strong yet still not an Expert?" Amelia asked, her eyes bearing on Michael.

Ava wasn't the only one that closely examined his movements. His sudden power boost hadn't remained a secret.

"Experience, I guess?" Michael answered, his breathing still irregular from the exhaustion.

"What, our leader caught your attention or something?" Enzo, in far worse shape than both of them, laughed out loud.

Amelia stayed silent for a few seconds. Then she nodded. "Actually, yes. If you don't mind having me, could I join the Indomitable Alliance?"

"I thought you would never ask." Michael flashed her a warm smile before answering.

"Sure, the more the merrier."

Enzo rubbed his eyes, doubting his vision.

"As expected of my rival! You even made Amelia swallow down her pride and request to join your faction!"

"I don't get how you can still chat. I can barely feel my limbs." Leo sighed, his two miniguns on the verge of melting due to overuse.

"You youngsters!" Bryce, who had been fighting at the back, approached them swiftly.

"Retreat and take a breather. You have fought for more than 8 hours by now. Only the generals can keep up with such a long time of constant fighting."

His words weren't a lie. By now, every group of captains had retreated to rest at least several times. Michael and his faction were the only exception.

Without complaining, they retreated even more, joining the common soldiers.

"Now that I can look at things objectively, we really killed a lot of aliens." Ava mumbled, stepping over hundreds of Elite corpses.

'Yet I wasn't able to complete the quest in the end.' Michael could only sigh. He hadn't been able to kill 20,000 aliens, leaving the Slaughtering Machine quest unfinished.

'Let's look on the bright side. I can make use of the high spiritual energy in the air.'

Once he judged the surroundings safe, he sat in a meditating position and started to cultivate at a moment's notice. With the thousands of dead Elites, he was bound to have a breakthrough or two at least.

"The madman is going to cultivate even in this situation?"

Not wanting to be undone by their leader, all members of his faction sat near him and did their best to absorb the energy in the air.

Since they were sitting in one spot, that made them easy to find amidst the chaotic battle.

"Luis, I see the hero! If we manage to get an interview while we are still locked in battle, our views will spike through the roof!" Skylar proclaimed, guiding the man by hand.

"I better get a raise after this…" Luis mumbled tiredly, following the energetic woman.
