However, when the side of Zethrox Zelythron's eyes caught a glance of Demon, whose expression had become even more amusing instead of shocked as it should've been on there sudden appearance, perfectly told him that Demon was aware of their presence here this whole time.
Which certainly raised many doubts in his head, but the most important of them all was, him still behaving in such an eccentric manner and showing no caution or concern towards them four, something which did not sit well with him one bit, even causing him to become alarmed and cautious instead.
Zethrox even wondered, if their conclusion of him being a Demon Duke, was actually even true or not?
Besides, if he could sense them, than obviously, he would've sensed the spies following him too, but why did he not take any actions towards them or even when they themselves came face to face with him, why wasn't he showing even a tinge of anxiety or fear towards them?
Evidently, he had many questions, but little to no answers.
Moreover, the more Zethrox thought about it, the more the unknown Duke's actions made no sense to him.
Consequently, he could only chalk them up to this Duke's eccentric and unusual personality. Well, at least for him, his behavior and outlook towards things wasn't like any normal Duke would have. More specifically, it was simply bizarre.
Nonetheless, Zethrox quickly cleared his head of any unnecessary thoughts, regaining control over his emotions and suppressing his greedy desire for possession.
Because, for now, his main priority was calming the other three Dukes down when he still have the time and the two foreign Dukes still weren't showing any signs of aggression towards them. His attention focused on them. His mouth opened.
"You three! Don't tell me that you are so into your greed and have so less control over your own selfish emotions and thoughts that you have entirely forgotten about them two!... "
Zethrox Zelythron calmly stated.
"Let us first deal with these two unknown Dukes before we do anything foolish or self harming. Considering, now it is perfectly clear why these two have come to Erythron; they are after our inheritance, the Legacy of an actual Archdemon."
He explained. Trying to defuse the palpable tension between them.
The three looked at him, eyes going wide but instantly they returned back to normal. The tension faded while they glanced at each other, their minds having been cleared of their aggressive greed on hearing Zethrox's words.
"Indeed."
Echoed them simultaneously. Their heads nodding solemnly.
Minds considering the spoken words carefully. Eyes glancing at Demon on one instance and than at Aynz o'roth the other, the while consciously ignoring the three shivering Demonesses behind him and the six unconscious figure sprawled on the far side.
As for the underlings of these nine, they have already gone far into the distance and dared not come close for obvious reasons.
Aenzole Aelythron, with his gaze focused on Aynz's flaming figure, remarked.
"I could never have believed or imagined that an ordinary mortal like him actually had such a priceless inheritance on himself, had I not heard his words and seen what he did with my very own eyes."
"Certainly!...
I also would've taken it as nothing but a mere rumor." Loyzon Aelythron voiced in affirmation. "What a fortuitous encounter it was.
That being said, I don't know what to make of this mortal, was he foolish or arrogant or perhaps even both, for him to so boldly declare his priced possession so openly."
"What else would you expect from creatures who live in the past, and in the present are always dreaming about delusional and unreal futures."
Eeynthoz Zelythron commented. His tone full on contemptuous, even sneering.
"Be that as it may, we should still thank this mortal for his foolishness.
Since, because of him, now we get to prosper, becoming existences which we never would've ever dreamed off. For such a huge contribution, I'm even willing to marry off my three daughters to him, if he behaves cooperatively later on that is!... "
The Duke smirked.
"If you four are done bickering about, than move aside. For the sin the mortal committed, death is his only fate."
On hearing the words, all of the Dukes turned back to Demon again. Thier expressions immediately becoming solemn and wary.
Although, they didn't know or understood why he had healed Aethrox Blazeshade, if he was here for the inheritance on Aynz o'roth, but that wasn't there main concern currently either.
"Aren't you being too arrogant, for you to so blatantly demand the life of one of our own, even more so in our own city governed by us. You haven't even introduced yourself as a Fellow Duke.
Yet, you are already on the path towards offending two families headed by six Dukes. I don't know if I should applaud your bravery or feel sorry for your ignorance."
Zethrox Zelythron responded. His tone cold and calm.
Whereas, Demon's lips arched; he really was amused, at how a small meaningless trip of exploration of his, had resulted in such a scenario.
Where, his impulsive actions were being looked on with meaning- no! Were given meaning and now, had even called upon the few Sovereigns of the tiny city he was roaming.
"The world really is an interesting place don't you four think."
He echoed, something which again left the four Dukes, wholly out of their loop. They stared, expressions blank, even dumbfounded.
"..."
"..."
"Anyways, forget that... " Demon remarked with a shake of his head. "Just apologize nicely and I'll let you four off the hook scot-free, as it would be quite redundant of me to kill you now."
His brow arched. Gaze, focused on the shrinking figure of Aynz o'roth.
Who had indeed come out of his daze already and had also become thoroughly aware of the situation he had landed himself into. He was so overwhelmed with regret when he found out what he did in his high arrogance that his mind was on the cusp of even refusing to accept his reality.
"Although, this mortal was audacious enough to raise his weapon against me, regardless, I will still be merciful and also let him off with a lighter punishment; I'll merely end him for good.
As, I'm not entirely in the mood of being too severe today. Certainly not, when it hadn't even been that long since the day of my awakening."
Demon smiled kindly. Feeling nice on giving a benevolent judgement after so long.
He supposed, it could be because of the Divine Energy of his wife, a few traces which still plagued his body from her attacks even after so long.
Though it was mildly uncomfortable from time to time, and also true that he could've easily gotten rid of it anytime he wanted, but again, everything of them was his possession. Besides, he naturally loved the feeling of them inside his soul.
"Alright, we've had enough of your peculiarities...!" Zethrox Zelythron voiced chillingly.
His presence erupting fully, yet was also balanced, focused only on Demon and Vanessa, while also masterfully maintaining a certain radius so as not to affect the surroundings and the mortals.
It was also good that the three Demonesses' had already ran away, while obviously, the presence wasn't focused on Aynz o'roth either. Otherwise, them four would've also become the same bloody fleshy pulp that were the six unfortunate Inferior Greater Demons. Poor souls were unconscious the whole time, and now would remain unconscious forever.
"Therefore, if you don't leave our city as soon as possible, than don't blame us for being rude."
The thunderous voice reverberated throughout the whole square, making many ears bleed from the low frequency soundwaves.
*Crack!!~~* ... *Crack!!~~* ...
The whole stoned ground of the wide city square cracked, getting crushed, even sinking half a meter deep into the earth from the pressure of the presence of an Ascension rank one: Demigod.
However, Demon's expression finally become unamused. Now, even he was wondering; if he was being too chill and easygoing here. Indeed, it was true that what these ants did, how they behaved or spoke about, never truly bothered him much.
As the value of their existence in his eyes was almost close to zero. That being said, if these so-called strong ants would try to challenge him than of course he would get irritated, regardless of how mild or irrelevant that irritation would be.
Besides, him not ending them was also because; the Dukes, though being insignificant and of no importance, still carried a cause to themselves.
As, despite their insignificance, they were actually the only nutrients with the nourishment which would make for a healthy bloom for the seed of Curreption of Hate and Resentment.
They were actually one of the sources which led to the seed's birth, meaning there consumption was a must.
Yes, it was an inconsequential reason, but it was enough for Demon to see value in their insubstantial existence and let them draw breath for a few more years and grow healthily. All so they can fulfill their roles of being some good consumption materials.
Demon nodded inwardly. Deciding to spare -
"Do you think you can just come to our city and boss us around, you filthy thief!...
We are already aware of your nefarious intentions with which you came to Erythron. You think you can steal our prized inheritance just like that, huh? Let's see you try and succeed...!"
Demon exhaled. His gaze becoming disinterested altogether. He regarded the four Dukes, who seem ready to even launch into a battle of life and death with him.
However, unexpectedly, he chuckled with a mild shake of his head and a shook of his shoulders. "How foolish would one have to be to actually challenge me in a battle... "
He whispered. Glancing at his maid, who after his words had remained quiet this whole time.
"My wonderful maid, you know its getting late. So, would you mind getting rid of these nuisances for me, that way we can get done with what we came here for... "
Demon requested. To which Vanessa merely responded with a nod. Her lips curled into a clear smile. Her intentions were obviously clear to Demon, which also made him remember.
"Ooh... And don't forget to revive those four after you kill them. Considering, they still have some purpose to even their meaningless lives, which they had to fulfill by dying, do you understand?"
Demon gently reminded.
"I do...!" ... ... ... ... ...
