God of Contracts: I Can Trade Anything

Chapter 31: Cracking the Communicator Arms Trade

Bruno quickly grabbed the assassin's communicator, but to unlock it, he needed a password, and he had no idea what it was.

After a moment of thought, Bruno decided to keep the communicator with him. Based on what he already knew, the person who had sent the message to the assassin was probably Tarnison.

Back at Bar No. 19, three assassins had taken the job. Two were already dead, leaving only one remaining.

Sigh

"Though my Meditation Technique is perfected now, and if used properly, it can have unexpected effects."

But Bruno wasn't completely satisfied. God Realm could only "bluff," or rather, confuse and intimidate the enemy.

When faced with real danger, he still needed to rely on his Warlock-Warrior level.

He had to find a way to quickly improve his Warlock-Warrior rank. Perhaps the Fire of Prometheus inside Elise's heart would bring him some unexpected surprises.

But to use the Book of All Things again in such a short time, he'd need to buy a lot of special medicinal food.

After completing the deal with Edward Shaw, Book of All Things needed a month to cool down.

And he only had four servings of special food left.

Since the beginning, Bruno had consumed seven servings of the special food, one of which was provided by Tarnison's son.

There were four left—enough to use the contract once more.

"I'm really short on cash," Bruno thought, looking at the assassin's body.

He searched the body carefully and found only an anonymous check worth three hundred gold coins. As for the alchemical handgun, of course, he took that too.

If he sold it on the black market, it would easily fetch over a thousand gold coins.

Right now, he was broke—he couldn't afford to pass up anything valuable!

Afterward, Bruno began dragging the body out of the room and dumped it in a secluded area.

In the room, Bruno looked grimly at the empty special food containers.

The situation wasn't quite what he had expected. Four servings of special food weren't enough to make the Book of All Things' one-month cooldown disappear.

He would have to wait until tomorrow before he could use it again.

The most concerning thing was that after eating four servings in a row, the cooldown time of the Book of All Things had noticeably slowed down.

This was bad news. It meant he might need to consume even more Celestial Beast meat in the future to make the Book of All Things cool down faster.

"Tch, with Bolantie's identity, it's already in the spotlight. I need a brand new identity, preferably one without any family or friends." Bruno muttered to himself.

The time to train in cultivation methods, a new identity, the Fire of Prometheus in Elise's heart, and ideally, trading for the battle experience of an experienced Warlock-Warrior...

How badly he wished he could get his hands on a lot of Celestial Beast meat, so he could quickly finish all the things on his plan.

Need money!

Golden coins. They were holding him back from buying the Celestial Beast meat and slowing down his progress.

"One step at a time. Tomorrow, I'll find a suitable target, trade for enough cultivation time, and use it to train in The Divine Sun Sutra to increase my strength."

Bruno sighed and lay down on the bed.

The next morning, at the Gaston Dojo, Bruno first found Elena and asked her if she knew anyone who could crack a communicator.

"This? Just go find Britney. She loves to research Arcane Power alchemy technology," Elena said, surprising Bruno with her answer.

That bean sprout?

His head started to spin. Among all of Master Nell's disciples, he had the worst relationship with Britney.

"Is there anyone else?" Bruno asked.

Elena thought for a moment and replied,

"There are others, but they charge a lot. At least a few dozen gold coins, and their skills might not even be as good as Britney's."

"Where is Britney?" Bruno asked without hesitation.

Elena casually told him where Britney was, and as Bruno left, Elena suddenly had a thought and murmured to herself,

"Was that just my imagination? Did it feel like Bruno has gotten stronger again?"

"Just my imagination... there's no way his Meditation Technique is perfected already, right? Ha, he's only been practicing The Ten Thousand Hells for a short time. That's impossible!"

Elena shook her head and went back to her work.

On the fourth floor of the dojo, at the room closest to the end of the hallway, Bruno took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

"Who is it?" Britney's voice came from inside, a little impatient, as though she was busy with something important.

Bruno answered slowly,

"Britney, it's me."

Instantly, the room went quiet.

"I'm not here. No one's inside."

Bruno couldn't help but feel helpless. Who says they're not home when they're in the room?

"Dear Britney, I've come to apologize," Bruno said calmly.

The door was suddenly yanked open forcefully. Britney, barely 1.2 meters tall, looked up at him with a big smile on her face.

"Apologize? Hurry up, come in! Damn it! Where's my alchemical camera?"

Bruno took another deep breath, trying to calm himself. He needed to crack the assassin's communicator password and see what message Tarnison had sent him.

He walked into the room.

It was a room cluttered with all kinds of Arcane Power equipment and alchemical tools, an absolute mess. There were even parts scattered all over the floor, carelessly handled.

"Senior Sister Britney, I shouldn't have called you 'bean sprout' last time. I sincerely apologize," Bruno said.

"You called me what?" Britney's eyes lit up.

"Senior Sister Britney? What's wrong?" Bruno asked, confused.

The corner of Britney's mouth twitched, struggling to hold back a laugh. She put on a mature look and nodded, saying, "Fine, from now on, you can only call me Senior Sister Britney. Now, what's the matter?"

Bruno quickly pulled out the assassin's phone.

Britney took one quick glance at it and replied, "This is a custom encrypted communicator. Not only does it require a power-on password, but it also needs biometric verification."

"Is it that advanced?" Bruno was surprised. The assassin's Warlock-Warrior level wasn't that high.

"It's not that advanced, just a little rare. The really high-end communicators can self-destruct, and the explosion would be strong enough to destroy the dojo," Britney answered while working with some tools.

A few seconds later, Britney handed the communicator back to Bruno and said, "Alright, you can use it now."

"Thanks for the service. That'll be ten gold coins, or you can just call me 'Senior Sister' ten times to pay up."

Was that even a question?

Every time Bruno said " Senior Sister Britney," a satisfied smile appeared on Britney's young face. Her eyes would squint in enjoyment, looking completely pleased with herself.

Bruno immediately turned on the assassin's communicator, found the latest message, and opened it. It was exactly as he had guessed.

The person who had sent the message to the assassin last night was indeed Tarnison!

Tarnison was urging the assassin to act quickly and said he could provide more resources as long as the assassin killed Bruno. Everything would be negotiable.

As Bruno was reading the message, the communicator vibrated again, and a new message appeared.

"I've found another assassin who took the job. His strength isn't as strong as yours, but if you two cooperate, I can raise the reward!"

Reward?

Bruno licked his lips. He was really short on money—desperately short on money!

He thought for a moment, then sent a message:

"No need to cooperate. I'm about to break through, and I've found Bruno's weakness. Just give me two days, and he'll be dead for sure!"

The message was barely sent before a reply came.

"Good! What else do you need? Just say it. As long as you can kill Bruno, I'll give you anything!"

Bruno smiled slightly.

"Gold coins. As many as you can give. My plan needs a lot of money, but once it's done, Bruno will die in a truly miserable way!"

Tarnison: "I'll add two thousand gold coins! Kill Bruno within three days, or it'll be you who dies!"

Bruno: "Good!"

Perhaps because Tarnison was so filled with anger and hatred right now, he had lost some of his rationality and failed to notice anything strange.

Bruno thought for a moment. He couldn't go to Tarnison directly to ask for the money. Instead, he'd get Tarnison to put the money in a suitable place and then find a way to retrieve it.

This method also fit with the assassin's identity.

Sure enough, Tarnison didn't object at all. He just kept stressing that Bruno had to act quickly.

Quick action?

Bruno smiled. Not only was he about to get some money, but he had also gained three more days of time. It was a double win.

"Hmm, you look like a psychopath when you smile." Britney, the bean sprout, suddenly spoke up.

Bruno ignored her. He already knew how to get Britney to cooperate.

"Senior Sister Britney, do you know if there's a black market near the dojo?" Bruno asked.

Britney's eyes immediately narrowed, and she replied with a proud and satisfied smile, "Of course I do!"

"Our dojo is involved in underground trading. What, do you have some contraband you want to sell?"

Bruno was a bit surprised. So, aside from lending money, the dojo was also involved in trading contraband?

He suddenly remembered something Master Nell had said—Tursos, Elena, and Britney all had certain business dealings.

What was Britney's business, though?

"Weapons, don't you know?" Britney blinked and answered directly.
