A small smile curled up on Silas's face, and he raised his hand and put it on his mouth to cover his bright chuckle. 'Yes, my jackpot. Lure that guy into our team.'
Then, the voice of the announcer roared through the speakers once again. "The match which will make either of these two reach the final will begin now."
Silas's eye twitched as an idea popped into his mind. 'Should I try to make him surrender? I think he took somewhat of a liking towards Ragnar, I can convince him maybe.'
He turned towards Daniel as his voice came out steady, tone polite. "Daniel," he said as he took a small pause.
Daniel's eyes were still fixed on Ragnar, but he gave a small nod as if he was listening to him.
Silas continued. "You can play with Ragnar as much as you want, but you have to do something for me."
Daniel's head instantly turned towards Silas as his eyes started to glimmer brighter than before.
A small smile tugged at Silas's lips as he said. "Can you surrender for this match?"
Daniel slightly leaned his head to the left and looked at Silas, then he looked at Ragnar and gave a small nod.
A chuckle escaped from Silas's mouth as he said. "Enjoy your time with him then."
Ragnar put his paw on Daniel's hand and licked his cheek.
He stood up as he put Ragnar in the seat next to Sia, then made his way to the counter.
"I'd like to surrender for this match," he said, voice steady.
The person who was sitting at the counter looked at him with confusion in his eyes, and a bead of sweat rolled down his temple as he said. "Uh, sure?"
He typed something on the holographic keyboard, which was hovering in the air in front of him.
Soon after, the voice of the announcer roared through the speakers. "The contestant Daniel Ashcroft has surrendered."
He took a small pause and then continued. "Which easily makes Silas Veil the winner of this match, and now he'll move up to the finals and fight against Carter Hale."
Silas smiled as he looked at Daniel, who was holding Ragnar in his lap. "Thanks for that favour, Daniel," he said, voice polite.
Daniel didn't look up at him and kept looking at Ragnar. His hands were still, and he was just staring at him.
Carter made his way towards Silas, his steps low.
When he reached near him, his voice came out, and his tone was filled with mockery. "Mister Veil, I didn't think that you were the kind who'd play tricks to win a match."
Silas didn't react to the mockery; his head simply turned towards him, and his voice came out low. "Whatever I did, it's between me and Daniel. So it'd be nice if you don't poke your nose into our matter."
A small smile curled up on Carter's lips, and his lower lip slightly twitched. "Well, as you say, Mister Veil." He said that and then turned and returned back to his group.
Silas sighed slowly as he muttered under his breath. "He played tricks to get to the finals, and now he's criticising me for doing the same, huh?"
The announcer's voice rang through the speakers once again. "Finalists Silas Veil and Carter Hale, both of you should now move to the arena for the last match of today's tournament."
Silas looked at Carter, who was standing in the middle of his group, on both sides were his minions, who were shouting and whistling to cheer him up.
He didn't pay any attention to it at all and picked up his sword and tucked it at his waist as he made his way to the arena.
When he reached there, he stood in the middle of the stage and waited for Carter to enter the arena. 'I know that motherfucker is using mind games by coming late to the stage, of course, I won't fall for this stupidity.'
He crossed his arms and stood there patiently, closing his eyes slightly.
After a few minutes, the announcer's voice came again. "Carter Hale, please come into the arena room for your match against Silas Veil."
Carter's voice came out low as he smiled. "Oh, yeah."
He made his way to the arena room and finally entered it.
One of Silas's eyes opened as he saw Carter enter the arena. 'He thinks only he can play mind games, huh?'
A small yawn escaped from Silas's mouth as he covered it slowly with his palm, his one open eye still looking at Carter.
Carter's lips had a smile tucked onto them, but the veins on his neck were bulging out, clearly showing that he was pissed.
Silas's voice came out low as both his eyes opened. "You took your time entering the arena. Were you trying to gather up the courage to fight me, huh?"
Carter's smile faltered for a second as his eyebrow twitched. "No? Why do you think that, Mister Veil?"
Silas didn't reply to him as he looked towards the speakers. 'My instincts are telling me that the announcer will speak now.'
The announcer's voice roared through the speakers. "Both finalists should greet each other now."
Silas and Carter both bowed slightly, and their voices came out in unison. "Hope we have a great fight."
Then the announcer's voice came again. "Now, both of you take your positions."
Silas moved to the right corner of the arena, and Carter moved to the left corner.
Silas's hand slid down to the hilt of his sword, and his eyes were fixated on Carter.
The speakers rang once again. "And the match begins."
Both of them rushed towards each other in the blink of an eye, leaving only their afterimages behind.
