My Ultimate Life-Stealing System Made Me Invincible

Chapter 55: Silas VS Carter

Speakers rang once again. "And the match begins."

Both of them rushed towards each other in the blink of an eye, leaving only their afterimages behind.

A smirk curled up on Silas's face as he pulled his sword out of its sheath; his eyes were fixated on Carter.

Carter's face was calm, no movement was there on it. Both of them clashed with each other. Bright sparks of light erupted through their blades.

Carter muttered under his breath. "Don't disappoint me, Mr Veil."

Silas ignored his words as he shifted his body slightly to the left and then used his hip to generate the strength and swung his sword towards Carter.

He studied the trajectory of the sword where it'll land, he moved slightly as he dodged the blade, and in return for it, he kicked Silas on his thigh.

Silas jumped backwards, completely dodging the kick effortlessly. 'Lol, he thinks he can hit me. I love you, Chiron.'

A small groan escaped through Carter's mouth as he followed behind Silas and didn't let him create the distance between them.

He swung his sword in multiple slashes, directed towards all vital spots of Silas's body, the intent behind those swords was of pure evil.

Silas's body moved on its own as it dodged all of the strikes that were coming towards him, it moved like a wave of water.

He raised his sword slightly as he used his skill [Phantom Step] and appeared behind Carter, the only thing that remained behind was his afterimage. He swung towards the neck of Carter.

But, Carter didn't get fooled by the afterimage and suddenly turned towards his back and blocked the blade of Silas.

"I have studied your attack patterns of your last match, Mr Veil. You can't fool me like this." Carter said, mockery was buried inside his tone.

A faint smirk curled up on Silas's face. He moved once again, but this time he used the other skill [Silent Snowstep].

The sound of his feet disappeared, it got difficult for Carter to hear the footsteps of Silas for a brief second, but then, he used one of his skills [Echo Perception].

Carter's sensory skill increased tenfold as he even started to hear the noise of the dust particles around them. He caught up to Silas and located him before he landed a strike on him.

"Tch." Silas groaned as he jumped backwards, slightly lowering his sword.

Both of them were now standing a couple of feet away, eyes locked onto each other.

No one seemed to move first, but then Silas raised his blade in the air slightly and muttered under his breath. "I didn't want to use this art in this tournament, but here goes nothing."

He dashed forward as he rotated his sword in a firm circular motion, changed his grip slightly onto his blade and now he was grabbing the top of the hilt with his index finger instead of the thumb.

[Basic Sword Art of Archangel Michael is in use.]

A smirk curled up on Silas's lips as his feet started to lighten up, almost as if he was flying into the air.

The expressions on Carter's face finally changed, eyes twitched slightly as he figured out that something about Silas had changed.

He moved too, dashed towards him with his full might and raised his sword to his eye-level and keeping his guard up.

Carter's mana started to surround the blade of his sword, and small patterns of crimson-red started to mark on it.

After a while, his sword finally got completely covered with crimson mana.

Silas's eyes widened slightly as he said. "You're the user of aura?"

A wicked grin spread across Carter's face as his voice came out of his mouth. "Why do you think that I'm stronger than the rest of you all. Mr Veil?"

A small sigh escaped Silas's mouth as he inhaled deeply. His steps stopped, and he stood in one place.

He then raised his sword in the air, grabbing the hilt of the sword with both of his hands.

Closed his eyes for a brief moment as he channelled his mana and infused it in the blade, then opened his eyes suddenly and muttered. [Lightstrike.]

A direct, clean slash infused with controlled mana escaped through his blade, and it was directed towards Carter, who was rushing towards him with his aura blade.

Sweat formed on Carter's temple as he froze in one spot. He tightened the grip on his sword as his crimson aura spread even more around his sword [Ironheart Guard]. The aura of his then surrounded him in the form of a shield.

The strike made an impact, with the aura shield created a blast. Carter coughed as his aura weakened slightly; his arms trembled after blocking Silas's strike.

On the opposite side of the arena, Silas was also finding it difficult to stand; even holding the sword was now a big deal for him.

Hands were trembling, muscles were aching because of the agony, body was completely drenched in sweat.

'Ugh... the attack of the sword art took a lot of mana and left a huge strain on my body. Can't stop here though.'

He pushed himself to move further, leaned in slightly as he brushed the dust off his clothes.

Eyes were fixated on Carter, who had also regained composure, and the aura of his had also returned fully.

A smile curled up on Silas's face as he dashed forward towards Carter. Carter also did the same. Both of them had their grips tightened on their swords, using their mana to its finest.

When they clashed once again, a huge smirk appeared on Silas's face as he muttered under his breath while pushing Carter slightly backwards. "You cocky bastard."

A smirk curled up on Carter's face, too as he replied. "That's not nice of you, Mr Veil."

They both jumped backwards as they ran to their left, looking at each other's feet, noticing the one would move next.
