Dungeon of Lust: Managing Otherworldly Beauties

Chapter 71: The Dysfunctional Function Begins

The moment Wrath spoke, Greed and Envy quieted down, and Sloth rolled her head a little, but her eyes were still closed. Vale followed suit, taking a rigid position in his seat.

"Welcome once again, Lust… I'm glad to see you survived your first month."

Vale waited with a bit of dejection for the crystal to turn red, but was pleasantly surprised when it didn't, signaling Wrath had told the absolute truth!

'You… How did someone so kind end up as Wrath!'

Or he could defy the crystal. Either one…

Vale almost wished Wrath could defy it because if he couldn't…

'That would also mean he wasn't lying about being repulsed by my face the first time we met!'

'So which is it?! Are you kind or not?!'

Vale, not knowing if Wrath was ready to hear his voice just yet, nodded and gave a smile.

Wrath just tilted his head, then let his metallic voice flow from somewhere under his helm.

"I'll quickly explain for you so we don't waste time on fruitless topics… Gluttony was destroyed six months ago and has yet to return to the world, but when their dungeon manifests within the next three months, it will be north of… the Dungeon of Pride and east of Malkite, a human nation on Triton. Figure out the specific locations of those landmarks for yourself…"

Vale couldn't help but question two things…

How did Wrath know approximately when and where Gluttony would appear?

'And is Triton the name of the other continent? The one where Wrath's Dungeon is on?'

Wrath continued:

"As for why Pride is absent… he only attends when necessary. Trust me, it's for the better. As for what we do here…"

Wrath tilted his helmet left to right, his eyes leaving an afterglow of red. Wrath went on after a slight pause:

"We update each other on what's going on in the world around our respective dungeons. Mainly, Seed activity in the area, where each Hero of Virtue is, and current important matters in the humanoid nations. And, it seems you've already discovered the lie detector. I watched your pitiful flirting from afar…"

Wrath had explained 'Seeds' the first time Vale visited.

Seeds were portals that, after a certain amount of time, would 'bloom' open and introduce corrupted creatures to the land. It was only by destroying these 'Seeds' that the corruption could be driven back and the lost land reclaimed.

"Finally… you are allowed to speak now, but I urge you to be careful with your words. And, don't you dare address Sloth unprompted…"

Wrath paused and stared at Vale. Vale's mind swirled in turmoil, not knowing what to do, but he eventually forced words to come out:

"Thank you…"

Wrath seemed upset by the very sound of Vale's voice, but thankfully, the terrible knight managed to control his anger. Wrath said:

"First, we typically take turns going around the table and sharing what we think is important one-by-one. After that, it becomes an open discussion… It is fine if you have nothing important to share since you are new, but do your best to pull your weight. At the very least, give us a progress update and pay attention… Also, Sloth is exempt from talking, but if she ever decides to, it is imperative that everyone grow silent and listen. Break that rule, and I'll kill you myself…"

Wrath leaned back in his onyx throne and began tapping his finger on the arm of his chair.

"I'll start today's discussion… Beakon has joined the Hearth-Malakite war and thus halted Pride's conquest of Northern Triton. This stupid war makes it impossible for any of us to easily find Gluttony, which must be done with haste to clear out any Seeds in the area for when they arrive."

Wrath nodded and stopped his tapping, signaling he was done speaking.

While this information wasn't crucial to Vale in the slightest, it did help a little with creating the mental map of the world in his head…

Well, the map was a bit of a stretch since he didn't know any landmarks other than the Teracotta Scar or what the continents looked like, but he was starting to learn what was near what and relative direction.

Greed, who sat between Sloth and Wrath, responded:

"That's some good news…"

'Good news?'

Wrath affirmed:

"Yes, it is… I can divert my power elsewhere now and help out once again with the containment effort. Though finding Gluttony will remain a challenge."

Greed just chuckled at Wrath. Then Greed began her turn:

"The coup I staged in Windshire sparked a referendum that showed the populace is split 50/50… A civil war is inevitable, and within the next six months I should be able to usurp the throne with ease if all goes according to plan..."

Vale once again wasn't gifted any meaningful knowledge, but he could tell each new nugget of information was a piece of a grand puzzle. One he eventually needed to put together.

So, he should do anything but ignore what he hears, especially since it was all true.

Wrath didn't give a verbal response, but nodded. Envy just rolled her eyes and looked away. Sloth continued to shift around ever so slowly, with her head resting on the table.

It seemed no one had anything to add, but it didn't seem like Wrath took what Greed said as useless.

Seeing that Greed was done, everyone's gazes fell on Vale. While it should have been Sloth's turn, she was exempt. And, the purple and gold throne to the right of Vale was vacant. Meaning, it was his turn.

Vale was a little scared about revealing his cards, but he knew he had to prove his worth lest Wrath find the need to replace him.

"I've managed to summon a Demonic and Anathema class Champions. And, I have employed an Aberrant and Monster class through Charming. As for Seed activity, none have spawned in the area I've explored."

Vale grew a smug look on his face as he turned to his left and stared at Envy, who had quite the shocked expression on her face. It wasn't just Envy; Greed looked fairly surprised, too. Even Wrath, whose face was hidden behind a helmet, seemed perplexed.

Envy screamed:

"You lucky asshole. What do you mean you summoned an Anathema and Demonic class Champions?! Of my first three Champions, the strongest loser was of the Mutant class!"
