Bloodmancer in the Jurassic Era: I use my Dinos to seduce Human mates

Chapter 106: The North Lands

Anna soared through the sky as she rode Bonita, her pet Quetzalcoatlus Northropi. It was very advantageous to have a flying pet dinosaur, as transportation was so easy, so accessible that it even contested, and beat the modes of transportation that she left behind in her past life. She didn't need a plane ticket to fly, just twenty pounds of meat, and to wink at Bonita. That's all it took for her to soar through the blue sky, with so much freedom at the palm of her hands that it wasn't even comprehensible!

However, the reason why she was up here was work related. Or, best described as ambitious.

Jimmy pitched the idea of looking for salt deposits, and she loved it. Unfortunately her pet couldn't carry two people, at least, not without getting tired out beyond measure in the first three hours of flight, so they couldn't fly together, but it wasn't like she needed his help anyway. She was far more educated in matters surrounding the prehistoric world, even when it came to salt, so she'd be a lot more efficient on her own.

Anna wasn't supposed to come out here alone to begin with, because Jimmy didn't want her to get lost in this big, scary world, but she had to fly alone. He made her promise about seven times that she wouldn't fly too far, and she intended to keep that promise.

The ideal radius for salt hunting would be two-hundred miles north, or roughly three-hundred and twenty kilometers north, past the formerly impassable rocky mountain range. This way, she won't get lost even if she was entirely inattentive, as it was hard to lose sight of a big mountain.

Regarding the mountain's name, the tribesfolk considered it impassable, because it couldn't be crossed on foot, but on top of a flying dinosaur, it was as easy as drinking water. She passed the mountain during the first five minutes of flight.

The rocky mountains were big, she was even up in the clouds, especially after they flew above the tip of it, but after that, the drop of elevation was exponential, and easy to scope. The harsh winds beyond the top made their flight a bit problematic, but Bonita had a wingspan of eleven meters, or thirty-six feet, so she glided through the wind, and altitude challenges nearly flawlessly.

Anna decided that it was best to fly as high in the sky as possible, below the clouds, of course, and at idle speeds. She had agreed to a limited radius to work with, so rather than searching through every inch past the rocky mountain for lakes and seas, she'd rather be high up on the sky, and look out for bodies of water from above.

This way, if there were any large bodies of water that were far away, for example, she'd find one before the day ends. Her eyes were burning for sleep, as she had barely slept for four hours, after returning home, before Jimmy started blabbing about salt, but she hung on. She sat firm, her hands gripping tightly on Bonita's back, and she tried her best to pay attention.

At an idle gliding speed of 30 mp/h, or 48 km/h, just enough to keep Bonita gliding through the air, instead of flapping through it, Anna still had to keep her eyes closed quite often, or blink more than usual, because at such accelerations, the air was hitting her face rather violently. It wasn't easy to fly without a protective helmet on, or at least, appropriate glasses, so she was struggling to keep her eyes open.

She had half a mind to create glasses by herself, but she needed sand for that, and a forge hot enough to melt the sand, and turn it into glass. Other than that, she didn't know how to work a forge, so her desperate need for glasses was merely a fantasy at this point.

Anyway, she had chosen to explore two-hundred miles north, because she knew that other than the river, there weren't any bodies of water across the grasslands. She had flown through, and around the grasslands for an entire day when she had been looking for survivors, and she hadn't even seen a single, small lake, not to mention seas. It would be a waste of time to search around the grasslands, so she chose a straight course northwards, towards areas that she hadn't explored before.

If she didn't find anything past the rocky mountain, her next favored location would be the west hills, since the river of the grasslands headed through there. If she traveled two, or three hundred miles beyond the west hills, the odds of her finding a lake was great, and since rivers transported microscopic amounts of salt towards still bodies of water, such as a lake, the odds of finding salt westwards was quite great.

'Let's see… what do you have to show me, north lands… why are you hiding behind a mountain?' She thought. 'Come on, I may be fucking flying, but I don't have a lot of time.'

The world was beautiful from up here. She discovered that the north lands were mostly small hills, with few trees spread across the land. Huge predators did not prefer lands like this, as there was only small game for them to prey at, so it would be the perfect place to live in, that is, if tribes could actively depend on the small dinosaurs as food. Living in the north lands would have both advantages, and disadvantages.

Anyway, one-hour into her flight, Anna looked to her right, and noticed something very interesting. She saw that the terrain was pushed inwards, by the very thing that she had been looking for; A wide, blue sea!

"Finally!" She exclaimed, but as she opened her mouth, she accidentally ate a small bug. "Fuck!"

Anna coughed her lungs out for two minutes straight, but she didn't let that demotivate her. She found a sea, so her mission was already half complete.

As for the other half, she eyeballed the distance between herself, and the sea, and then she came to a conclusion. The sea was too far away for her to fly towards today, at least, not unless she wanted to triple her speed, and risk falling off her pet.

It was not worth it to risk her life, especially considering that she didn't bring anything to carry the salt with. Not to mention, it might take a while to find salt deposits, even across the shores of the sea. She was just sent out to explore today, and hopefully tomorrow, after the crack of dawn, she can come back with large leather bags, and then bring tens of kilos of salt home.

If Jimmy managed to tame a few more Quetzalcoatlus Northropi, otherwise known as the biggest flying lizards to ever exist, then they may be able to bring hundreds of kilos of salt home, without straining every muscle of Bonita's body.

Anna started commanding her pet to turn around, so they could fly back home, straight towards the rocky mountains. The search for salt shall continue tomorrow, and hopefully, the trip won't take them more than a day.
