Anna was stunned. At first she didn't speak because she didn't want to give away her fake identity, but now, she was too stunned to speak. She didn't know what to do.
'What does this bastard mean?' She thought, 'Jimmy said that his brother died.'
Likewise, she also thought, 'Is this some sort of elaborate trap to fuck me over? If so, these bastards are worse than I thought.'
Anna did not answer. She feared that this man was a mind reader, and in this world where magic was inherently random, the odds of her running into a mind reader was low, but never zero. She was sure that this man was up to no good, her guts, her intuition was practically screaming at her, and she listened.
She walked away, as this was the only, lowkey solution that she could think of, one that wouldn't arouse any further suspicion. These people were cannibals, after all, so no one would be surprised if a cannibal was grumpy now and then, especially if they heard one of their people speaking gibberish.
The man did not follow her, he left her alone. Once she was left alone, a couple of words that the man said kept playing in her head.
'How would he know Gaark's name?' She thought. 'Jimmy told me about his brother, but I barely remember Gaark's name myself. If he was a mind reader, how could he fetch a name that I couldn't care less about?'
This was the only piece of the puzzle that didn't fit, and she knew it. She couldn't ignore it, as in a metaphorical sense, it was like a puzzle piece was thrown inside a set of turning gears that were dry of oil. She could almost hear the gears in her head whistling, desperately yelling at her not to ignore the puzzle piece.
Anna regretted it already, but she decided to turn around, and follow the man that tried to speak with her moments ago. She approached him, and although it wasn't visible because of their large masks, the both of them got very nervous.
She stood in front of him, and expected him to speak again. She wanted him to put in more effort, because she wanted to excuse this insane risk she was taking.
"Trust me, I'm Gaark. I'm from the grasslands, I can even prove it if you want." He whispered. "But please, help me get back home, I've been stuck here for five summers. I'm going insane here… I've eaten so many people…"
Anna was still hesitant, but she trusted the desperation in his voice. A lot of things could be faked, but true, deep-felt desperation was not one of them.
At last, she decided to trust him.
She whispered, "Of course you're going insane, dipshit. You're not supposed to eat humans, it messes with your brain."
The man was quiet for a moment, but then as he whispered back, he seemed so excited that it was almost suspicious. Thankfully, he didn't carry any malicious intent.
He said, "Anna, I knew that I saw you back there! I wasn't sure, but I can't forget that voice. Can't forget how family sounds like."
Afterwards, he added, "Don't worry, you're safe. I saw you put the mask on, but I didn't tell anyone."
"Good," She sighed in relief. "Now be quiet, and follow me. We have little time before Jimmy comes and gets us."
In the course of an hour, most of the people in this tribe gathered around the large fire. Each of them ate a few pounds of human meat, except for Anna and Gaark, of course.
Anna had noticed a huge boulder, located a hundred meters, or over three hundred feet away from this tribe's home. Slowly but surely, she and Gaark walked up there, and no one really bothered them. No one was suspicious.
Young men and women often walked around the mountainside, so they could have some privacy, and then have sex. Gaark told her about this, and she abused this fact thoroughly.
The two of them walked towards, and then behind the boulder, but they didn't walk up here to have sex. They came here for two reasons, and one of them surrounded privacy, yes, but not the type that would lead to sex.
The two of them took their masks off, so they could have a look at each other, and get rid of the awkward silence. Gaark had dark hair, but his family genetics were still strong, so he looked like a bulkier, hairier version of Jimmy.
Anna didn't remember this man, not at all, because she didn't bear the memories of the former body owner. She couldn't remember, but it didn't matter.
Gaark was beyond happy, and he smiled a lot like Jimmy did, so now, she was absolutely sure that she wasn't being lied to. She found peace in the fact that her insane risks were worthwhile, because if she hadn't taken that risk, the odds of her killing him would've been large.
"You've grown," He said, and then hugged her. "My goodness, it's so nice to finally see a friendly face!"
Anna felt a bit uncomfortable, she was still on high alert, so she didn't react in the best way. She didn't know this man, for one thing, not a bit, so she pulled back, and pushed his face away.
Afterwards, she asked, "I've hit my head recently, and I can't remember much. Tell me, did we use to date, or… erm, fuck, in any way? Including butt stuff, or kissing."
"No!" He exclaimed, and pulled his head back as if she had cursed his forefathers. "We were kids when we last saw each other, Anna, of course we did not fuck! Why would you even ask me that? Are you with Jimmy?"
"Yes," She answered honestly. "That's the only reason why I asked you. I wanted to know how awkward things are gonna get once we bring you home, but thanks for answering honestly. I'm glad we didn't fuck."
Anna knew that she had been a virgin before she slept with Jimmy, but she knew one thing for sure, kids could be insane at times. In this era where no one would hold them accountable, nothing would stop younglings from sucking each other off at the very least. She wanted to make sure that the former body owner didn't indulge in such activities with Gaark. Thankfully she didn't, so she could relax about it, and they could put that topic aside.
She quickly asked, "Do you have Dinosaur Strength? I could use a bit of help pushing this rock. We're gonna kill these bastards today."
"My magic is… unique." He admitted. "I can breathe underwater, and jump really high, if that helps?"
"Great, you're a human frog." She grunted. "No, you can't help."
Afterwards, she started pushing the boulder, and said, "Brace yourself. We're gonna have a stand off with anyone who survives this."
Anna initially wanted to kill these cannibals in more brutal ways, in ways that included torture, but she couldn't beat fifty of them by herself, so she had to settle with the next best thing. She wanted to crush them to death.
The boulder in front of her was five meters, or sixteen feet tall. It was a bit wider than it was tall, and it should weigh several tons.
The boulder was round, and already vulnerable to moving, because it was up on the rocky mountain, and the path in front of it was downhill, at a 40° angle.
It was still heavy, though, so Anna had to use every bit of her strength, and her magic, just to nudge the boulder by a few inches. Her body was strained, she could feel her muscles burning, her bones nearly ready to crack, but she didn't quit. She kept pushing, and with Gaark's minimal contributions, she managed to move the boulder by a few more inches.
Afterwards, they heard these loud, crackling sounds, and then the boulder finally started moving by itself!
"You cunts hurt my Bonita," She wheezed, as she watched the boulder roll down the mountain. "That was the worst mistake you could make, and it will be your last."
