Chapter 44: New World

After a long time of thinking, he actually found a way to go higher.

"Cloudless must be it. I will let it turn into a long staff that carries me upward."

That was the answer.

Mike summoned Cloudless from his inventory. The large cloud appeared above him and floated on its own over Mike's head. It hovered just above the ground and did not move even a little. It seemed to be waiting for Mike's command.

So Mike spoke.

"Transform into a flying cloud!"

The cloud moved immediately and transformed into a flying form. It seemed like not much had changed, except that it now rested differently above the ground so Mike could climb onto it. Mike sat down, and the cloud took off. Deep within, it already knew where Mike wanted to go. Higher. They had to go higher.

After a while, it became cold, and Mike felt frost forming on his skin. They were already very high. As they kept flying upward, Mike's hands began to hurt. He was holding onto Cloudless so tightly that he feared he might be hurting it, but it did not seem that way.

Did it feel pain, or could it even feel anything at all?

Hopefully not, because Mike's grip would really hurt otherwise.

After flying for some time, a white palace appeared. It looked majestic, floating in the air without any visible support. Mike knew exactly who was waiting for him there.

"Cloudless, do you think I can kill the Cloud of Joy? I have to do it for Zaikel."

Of course, Cloudless did not answer and continued to fly silently upward toward the white palace. The palace simply floated there, as if an invisible force beneath it was holding it in place. Mike prepared himself to jump and land on the palace. It was not very large, but definitely not small either, so landing on it would not be easy.

Just as Mike was about to jump, a white flash suddenly lit up. Mike blinked once and realized he was in free fall. Cloudless was falling beside him. It was completely pierced through, and in the middle there was a massive hole that destroyed Cloudless. It shattered into a thousand pixels in the air.

Such a useful item was destroyed. But by what?

Mike looked around in the air and realized it was him.

The Cloud of Joy was there.

Mike examined the figure. It looked humanoid, with legs and a body, but it was made entirely of clouds. Its skin moved with the wind. So this was the Cloud of Joy.

Mike was still falling. He had to change that.

He drew his sword and hurled it forward. The force pulled him upward, and he landed on the lower structure of the palace. Above him, the massive white palace glowed brightly. Mike looked up and saw the Cloud of Joy standing on a tower, staring down at him.

Suddenly, the Cloud of Joy raised a hand. A white spear appeared. Instantly, the Cloud of Joy jumped down, the spear aimed straight at Mike. It moved so fast that Mike could only see a dissolving silhouette.

"Admin finisher activated?"

"Yes!"

Mike's fist immediately began to glow white. His hand moved automatically upward. The Cloud of Joy was instantly torn apart by Mike's hand. A massive shockwave ripped the palace into a thousand pieces, and the fragments fell downward.

Mike looked around. The Cloud of Joy should have been dead, torn apart completely. But no.

That bastard had two lives.

Its body was destroyed, but suddenly a gigantic cloud appeared in the sky above Mike. It was enormous, and Mike knew this was no ordinary cloud. This had to be it. The Cloud of Joy.

Mike tightened his grip on his sword, leaned back, and threw it upward. The blade flew perfectly toward the massive cloud, whistling through the air. When it reached the cloud, it sliced straight into it, creating a hole that began to spread on its own.

"Admin finisher executed!"

The gigantic cloud exploded instantly, releasing a shockwave aimed straight downward. Mike was hit and carried along by it. Everything happened faster now, and Mike felt every second as he fell toward the ground.

"I did it!"

Mike closed his eyes and focused. He moved. He felt it.

When he opened his eyes, he found himself in the Shadow Castle. He had retreated there. Now Mike could calmly think about what to do next. He assumed that if he teleported back, he would still be in the air, moments away from impact.

But there was no other choice.

Mike took a deep breath and stepped through the portal beside him. He opened his eyes and, unfortunately, he was right. He was only a few centimeters above the ground.

A loud impact followed.

Mike was knocked unconscious. The ground split open, and a massive sphere was driven into the earth. The impact was immense.

Mike lost consciousness.

When he opened his eyes, two familiar faces were looking down at him. It was Hero and Ice.

"He is still alive!" Hero said and smiled.

Ice had a relieved grin on her lips.

Mike slowly sat up and checked his health bar. He froze. It was only a centimeter away from zero. He had been incredibly lucky. Afraid of triggering anything, he stayed lying down and gave a weak smile, but did not speak. The voices of Ice and Hero slowly faded into the distance. He could not understand them anymore, so he gave up trying to listen and opened his inventory.

He noticed that there were three new entries.

Decision about Sky City's fateCloud of Joy's abilityCloudless very large

Mike thought about what this could mean.

"Decision about Sky City's fate?"

He took it out of the inventory and realized it was not an item. A system window opened.

Destroy Sky City?Repair it?Restart it?Normal state?

Was it really in Mike's hands to decide?

He wanted to think, but something inside him forced his finger to move.

"No. Not destroy."

Mike quickly pulled his finger back and chose nothing at all.

To Ice and Hero, it must have looked strange. Ice stepped closer to Mike and asked, "Are you okay, Mike?"

He could hear their voices again.

Mike did not answer right away and looked at his health bar. He noticed that it had been restored to half or even more. To be honest, that fight had been the easiest one so far. Still, he could never use the admin finisher again.

Mike thought it was worth it. After all, he had received three legendary rewards.

He tried to stand up slowly, and it worked. He even managed a quiet "Hello."

Hero and Ice looked at him and helped him up. Now he was standing on his own two feet again and was ready to tell his friends what he had received. But somehow, he did not want to. He decided to keep it secret and only said, "I killed the Cloud of Joy and got something."

Mike summoned Cloudless. It was larger than all three of them combined. He placed Cloudless behind him.

"Transform into a sword," Mike commanded.

Cloudless began to shake and shrink. The white sword landed perfectly in Mike's hand.

"Let's go to World Five," Mike said.

But how was the question.

They had finished everything in Sky City. They had even killed the creator of this world.

Mike thought for a moment. He knew that if he asked, it would appear. He thought only of it, and a blue field appeared around him. Ice and Hero flinched.

"What is that?" they asked.

Mike told them calmly to stay relaxed. "It is my assistant. I got it as a legendary drop."

They nodded and looked on.

"Hello Mike, you little fighter. You actually did it. You killed the Cloud of Joy. Well done!" With that energy, the blue creature shot out of the ground.

"And now you do not know how to continue to World Five. Well, only about four million people are waiting to enter Level Five, so no pressure."

The blue creature only made it worse, then sank back into the ground again. But it left Mike with one sentence.

"Look in your inventory. The answer is there."

Mike checked his inventory and realized he had to choose something to proceed to Level Five.

He thought for a moment, then pressed destroy.

"I do not like this place. Too many clouds."

The moment he confirmed destruction, the ground beneath them dissolved into air. A massive explosion spread across the entire cloud land. When it finally reached the three of them, they were instantly teleported away.

They opened their eyes, and players were everywhere around them. There had to be at least two million players in one place.

"Wow, this is insane," Hero said.

Mike looked around and realized that they were standing on a massive island. The starting area was at the coast, and even all the players fit along the shoreline. That was how unbelievably large it was.

He looked farther ahead and noticed huge white letters floating in the sky.

"Aqua Kingdom."

"Please do not let this world be a water world," Mike sighed, already dreading what was coming.

It was a water world.
