The entire coastline was covered with players. No matter where you looked, you could see real players everywhere. Conversations overlapped with other conversations, creating a constant roar of noise. Everyone was waiting for the opening of Aqua Kingdom.
The day was still young. Bright sunlight illuminated the coast, the sun standing high in the sky at this hour.
Ice, Mike, and Hero stood together, squeezed in by others and forced to adjust. They gently pushed the people around them away.
"I already hate this," Mike said loudly and annoyed, looking at Ice and Hero.
The three of them managed to create a bit of space around themselves, but the situation was still unpleasant. Apparently, this was Mike's fault. He had destroyed Sky City, and with that, everyone who had been there was teleported here.
Well, how else were they supposed to continue the story?
This had happened before. Mike always defeated the final boss of a world, leaving other players without a chance to get the loot from the final boss, since it only spawned once. Luckily, Mike was always far ahead.
But in World 5, things were very different. There was no winner yet. Everyone was waiting, preparing themselves to enter Aqua Kingdom, but they were forced to stay here until the teleportation began.
Mike, Ice, and Hero waited patiently, making sure they did not get crushed again.
After a long wait, screams could be heard.
Mike flinched. The situation had worsened. By now, all four million players were gathered on this vast, massive coastline. But even with its enormous size, there was not enough space. People began fighting for room.
From one second to the next, the coast turned into a bloody battlefield. Blades clashed against each other. Insults flew through the air. Abilities were unleashed. Half the crowd panicked, while the other half charged at the innocent. Bandits emerged among them, clearly using the chaos to kill and rob defenseless players.
Mike, Ice, and Hero turned around, but suddenly Mike was torn away, dragged deep into the crowd.
"Ice!" Mike shouted, followed immediately by, "Hero!"
But it was useless.
Mike was pulled around a corner by several bandits and found himself somewhere completely different.
"You! Why did you do this?!" Mike stood in a threatening stance, staring at the three bandits who had dragged him away.
There was a bit of space around them, a small circle. Beyond it, blood flew everywhere as far as the eye could see. The leather clad bandits grinned.
"Hey, you idiot, how dare you talk to us like that? We want your armor!"
Mike listened but did not answer. The bandits had already sealed their fate.
Another bandit shouted, "Yeah, your armor is probably worth a lot—"
He never finished his sentence. His head flew through the air.
Mike had equipped his sword from his inventory in a flash. He looked at the remaining two bandits. They immediately began begging for mercy, showering him with compliments about how strong he was.
It did not interest Mike.
He focused, and suddenly a white aura surrounded his hands. When Mike moved them, the aura followed, glowing brightly. His shadow darted to the side, and in an instant, the two bandits were pierced through and collapsed.
"Pathetic," Mike said.
His hands returned to normal. The white aura sank down and dissolved. This was the power of an admin. The new aura Mike had unlocked seemed to multiply his current strength tenfold. As if the bandits had not been enough, fate decided to test Mike once more.
Suddenly, two arrows shot toward him.
When Mike turned around, they were already too close, and there was no space to dodge. So he stood straight and waited. The first arrow hit his stomach, but the ability stopped it, since it was the first attack. The arrow fell to the ground.
The second arrow hit his shoulder.
Mike pulled it out immediately and looked toward the one responsible. It was a small assassin standing a bit farther away. Mike met the assassin's eyes, and she vanished, seemingly turning invisible.
The assassin wore black boots and dark clothing, with a face covering hiding her features.
Mike stayed alert. He knew the assassin was not running away.
She was coming closer.
Mike waited and closed his eyes.
After a few seconds. NOW!.
Mike's hand shot upward. Perfect timing. He stopped the assassin's attack completely. The knife in her hand glinted, but it was useless. She could not move her arm.
Mike looked deep into her black eyes.
"I want to test something."
Mike grinned faintly.
Beneath the assassin, a blue puddle formed. The assistant emerged from it and stood beside Mike, looking at him. The assassin twitched and tried to tear her hand free.
Mike spoke in short sentences.
"Kill her."
Without waiting any longer, the blue creature lunged forward. Its hand pressed against the assassin's stomach and pierced straight through with ease. The strike drove deep into her abdomen. Blood spilled from her mouth as she collapsed to the ground.
Mike grinned and nodded at the assistant.
He did not want to admit it, but somehow he liked this. It might be that he was changing, but Mike was sure of one thing. He would not become a bloodthirsty monster. Or would he.
He was not so sure anymore.
Mike blinked a few times, clearly thinking. He looked at the assistant.
"Find Ice and Hero. I will stay here. And well. Have some fun."
The assistant nodded and sank down into the sand.
Mike drew his sword. He did not want to kill innocent people, of course. But if it happened, then what could be done about it. Still, he deliberately searched for bandits and thieves who had made it their goal to kill and rob others.
Mike's eyes seemed to glow red. Beside him, five shadow creatures appeared. Mike began to run through the crowd, the shadows following behind him and moving ahead of him.
"There."
Mike's gaze fell on a thief who had just pulled his sword out of a warrior. Blood splashed across the bandit's chest plate. The grin on his lips vanished instantly.
Mike's sword sliced through both of the man's arms, and the bandit collapsed to the ground. Mike laughed.
"This is actually really fun."
But before Mike could truly go wild, he heard the assistant speak.
"I have found the two of them."
Mike stopped and followed the assistant.
