Ice spoke in a joyful tone, "There!"
She pointed ahead of them. Since the bubble was transparent, they could see clearly and recognize everything. A large air bubble appeared in front of them, and within it stood a massive white and black building. It towered above them.
Mike stopped the bubble by tapping Hero and pointing forward. The building stretched incredibly high. It even continued upward out of the water.
Mike did not know how that was possible.
As they drew closer, the building grew larger and larger. All three of them stared at it, wondering if this was truly the path to World 6. Mike had a bad feeling. He sensed that the final worlds would not be easy. He feared a fight, a true survival battle. In the end, it was always about life and death.
In general, Mike had noticed something unsettling. His adventure so far had been almost too easy. Of course there were strong enemies, but he could usually defeat them. Yes, he had faced difficulties, and in the beginning everything had been hard, but now things were moving forward far too quickly. Because of that, Mike feared what awaited them in the worlds still to come.
When they were very close to the huge, shining tower-like building, they stopped. The three of them, still inside the bubble, looked at everything from the outside. They saw an entrance with two white doors. Hero nodded to them and let the air bubble collapse. Immediately, Ice, Mike, and Hero fell into the water. It wrapped around them from all sides.
Mike dared to move forward. He could barely see anything. They were deeper in the water now, where it was dark. But then he saw it. A handle. Mike reached out and grabbed the door handle hanging from the white door and turned it. Instantly, something grabbed him and pulled him inside. Ice and Hero followed right after. They barely had time to react before they were pulled in as well.
The door closed again, leaving the three of them in a mysterious place.
Mike felt a warm yellow light around his eyes, and he was lying on something soft. It reminded him of a cloud. No, it was as soft as a cloud, but he knew it was not one. Curious, Mike slowly opened his eyes. The yellow light came from the ceiling. They were inside some kind of room.
Mike looked around. Hero and Ice were lying on the ground next to him. All three of them were lying on a large white carpet. It was incredibly warm and comfortable. With a sudden motion, Mike stood up and looked around more carefully. It was some kind of meeting room. Around them, many players were sitting or standing. They all seemed to be waiting for something.
The room was large. The walls were white, with no windows. At the bottom, the walls ended in brown wood. Mike kept looking around. There were about twenty other players in the room. So Mike waited.
Then he received a system message. From the expressions on the others' faces, Mike knew he was not the only one who had received it.
Ice and Hero were still lying on the ground, their eyes closed. Mike looked up again, sighed, and prepared to read the message.
"Twenty players are in this room. Only five will survive. You have five minutes to form four teams of five. These teams will then fight each other. Begin. 4:52."
The timer started.
Mike immediately woke Ice and Hero. At first they were confused, but Mike quickly explained everything. Ice, Mike, and Hero formed a three person team and started looking for two more members. They moved along the edges of the groups. Many teams had already formed.
Mike noticed a boy. He was a bit smaller than the others and looked exhausted. He was standing at the edge of a group. Another boy walked up to him and shoved him against the wall. He slammed into it and fell to the ground.
Mike ran over immediately and stood in front of the boy who had pushed him."What was that for? We are about to fight!"
The boy just grinned."The faster you die, the faster we win."
He walked back to his group.
Mike sighed and looked down at the boy on the ground. Ice helped him up. Hero stared at the other boy's group with an angry look. He wanted trouble, and he was ready for it. Hero equipped his sword and gripped the handle tightly.
Ice looked at the smaller boy and gently held his face. Blood was running from his lip. She smiled and wiped it away."You are patched up again."
The boy was shaking as he thanked her."I-I am-sorry that I-am so weak but could you maybe take me with you?"
Hero looked at Mike, and Mike looked at the boy. Then Mike smiled."Yes, that should not be a problem. What is your name?"
The boy had long black hair. He looked terrified and was trembling slightly. Then he straightened up and spoke in a quiet, almost impossible to understand voice."M-my name is Terry. I was part of their group."
Terry pointed at the boy who had thrown him against the wall.
Ice spoke up."You were with them? Then why did he at…"
Terry interrupted her."They always did that because I am weak and because it was fun to them. So I was always getting hurt."
Mike's expression darkened."In one minute, they will see."
Terry only nodded and kept some distance.
Mike and Hero stepped in front of Ice and Terry. They looked at the timer. Thirty seconds were left.00:28
They quickly scanned the room. There were four groups. One of them was theirs. It consisted of Terry, Mike, Ice, and Hero. Wait. One was missing.
Mike sprinted forward and saw a girl sitting in the corner with her head against the wall, completely still. The timer was almost at the end.00:11
Mike grabbed her hand and ran back to his group. He did not know what happened to incomplete teams, and he did not want to find out. The girl startled."Y-you want me?"
