Godslayer VR

Chapter 55: endless desert(1)

Hero's skin burned as the sun scorched high in the sky. Sand flew through the air. Ice, Hero, Fie, and Terry looked around, but they saw nothing except desert. The orange sand surrounded them, yet they did not wander aimlessly.

Hero suddenly jumped up. He received a system message.[Overvive 30 days in the endless desert 1/30.]

The others received the exact same message. They looked confused. Hero grinned and tried to lighten the situation, but he failed."Then we can rest for now, right?"

Hero looked especially at Ice and tried to cheer her up, but it did not work. Ice was overwhelmed by tears and turned away from them. She clearly did not want to talk. Fie looked at Hero and nodded. She whispered to him, "Better leave her alone. I do not think she is doing well at all."

Fie smiled and then continued, "Good, we now have thirty days to get to know each other."

Hero agreed. After all, they did not know each other very well yet. In fact, barely at all. Hero studied her for the first time. She wore black armor. Her black hair shone and fit perfectly with it. What stood out the most were her turquoise eyes. Hero saw something in her, something like a friend. She was perfectly kind and strong. Hero grinned."Yes, we can get to know each other."

Fie smiled as well. Suddenly, Hero's face darkened. A bony hand emerged from the ground. It moved quickly and grabbed Hero's foot. In the blink of an eye, Fie and Hero were surrounded by twenty skeletons. They all carried rusty swords and clattered as they moved.

Fie immediately equipped her chains. The chains wrapped around her arms and were ready. Hero drew his sword and waited for the bony group to make their first move. Fie, however, was already ready to attack, so she did.

She swung her chain in a wide circle and tore many skeletons apart. The bony figures were dragged along by the chain. She slammed the chain into the ground, releasing a powerful shockwave. Her face was focused. Hero noticed it. He wanted to help her and stepped beside her. With a sword strike, he beheaded a skeleton. Immediately, the bones fell to the ground and shattered into thousands of tiny pieces before disappearing.

The chain flew through the air. Fie tilted it slightly, and it slammed into the ground. The chain tore the bony figures down with it. Hero reacted instantly, jumped in to help, and finished off the skeletons.

Fie grinned."That was dealt with quickly."

Hero nodded."Yes, the enemies were easy."

Fie nodded and looked at Hero. Hero did the same. He looked into her turquoise eyes and began to think. How was all of this supposed to continue? With Mike and Ice, this desert. Hero had made it this far. They were in world six. Only four worlds left, and they were in the last stretch. What would actually happen if before the three yea—

Hero's thoughts suddenly stopped. He felt Fie pull him closer. Their lips touched, and they were kissing. Hero hesitated for a moment, but his heart was pounding. His thoughts were in chaos."Why can I feel my heartbeat?"

After a short pause, another thought followed."Wait, are we kissing right now?"

Hero leaned back slightly. Their lips separated. Fie looked a little surprised. Hero, well, it was hard to tell how he felt. Then Hero spoke quietly."Well, um, thanks."

Fie smiled."You are really handsome."

They talked for a while and looked at each other with warmth. After some time, the blue sky, bright from the sun, turned into a dark arena as night fell. The moon appeared.

On the first night, nothing seemed to happen. Fie and Hero returned to Terry and Ice. They asked Terry what was going on with Ice. He said she had not spoken at all and was just staring into the distance."You cannot really blame her," Fie said, looking at Ice.

Hero nodded and sighed."We will make Mike pay for this."

The night felt shorter than the day, and after only a few hours, the sun rose again. Ice had her eyes closed and was sleeping. Terry sat on the sand and was drawing something. They were not really artworks. Let us call them structures.

Fie and Hero sat next to each other and discussed the situation. They still had twenty nine days left to survive in this desert.

Meanwhile, in the shadow castle, Mike was preparing for war, a war carried out by admins. Mike sat on the throne, looked at his shadows, and equipped them with swords."Next, I need another sword," Mike said.

He stood up and pulled a few items out of his inventory, but none of them were useful. Mike knew that to get a new sword, he had to cross world six. He grinned and said,"Then let us get started."

Mike had a theory that different servers powered the worlds. That meant only about one hundred players were in a single server, and now there were still three million players left. Mike thought for a moment."Hey, shadows, can you travel between servers and locate one?"

The shadows did not answer. In fact, they showed no reaction at all. Suddenly, a blue light shot up from the ground. A voice echoed through the room."Well, you cannot, but I can."

The assistant stood next to Mike with a grin. Mike replied,"Good. Then I will teleport to you, okay?"

Mike and the assistant had a special ability they could only perform together. They could instantly swap places, but both of them had to agree. So Mike waited until the assistant found an admin. The assistant remained standing there. Mike smiled and said,"Then find an admin. You will recognize them by their strength and aura."

With a nod, the assistant accepted the order and vanished into the ground. Mike sat back down on his throne with a grin, ready for good news. He wanted to defeat the admins as quickly as possible, and he had not even come close to fully exploring his admin powers yet.

Mike's path had only just begun. His path toward Godslayer VR.
