Chaos Point System: I Summon the Supreme Sword Demon

Chapter 42: Rank E?

A man gulped in fear as he stared at his trembling hands after witnessing the scene of terrifying brutality. Then, he shifted his attention to Alaric and Khaled.

"He's such a vicious one. I've never seen a summon like that."

Some audience members nearby shared the same terrified expression. Meanwhile, the determiner gritted his teeth in fury. This was the most humiliating moment of his life. He was certain that Alaric had commanded the demon to torment his pet just to mock him in front of everyone.

"You son of a bitch!" Without waiting for the referee's signal, he lunged at Khaled, directing his deadly spear straight at him.

However, the demon just smirked and slowly dissolved into thin air, leaving behind a laugh that stirred everyone and infuriated the determiner.

"Sorry. I didn't mean to torment your pet, but honestly, my summon is a bit… disobedient."

"Uhm… sure, you probably won't believe me," Alaric shrugged, drawing his shell longsword while observing his opponent charging in without much caution.

At that moment, the determiner looked more like a maniac than a calm fighter. Alaric frowned, considering this carefully, though he would confirm his thoughts during the fight.

The clang of steel echoed loudly as the sword met the spear. Overall, the determiner had a solid combat style—it explained his position in the guild—but it still wasn't enough to match Alaric.

Surely, Alaric displayed a combat technique that was both bizarre and deadly, to the point that everyone here wondered where this fighting style came from… from a legendary clan… or some mysterious clan showing itself to the world for the first time.

However, those with sharp, skilled eyes could catch the secret behind his fighting.

"That boy's sword style isn't strong… there are gaps and mistakes… but it's strange how the spearman can't exploit them," an old man said, rubbing his chin as he observed the match. As an experienced swordsman, he could clearly see Alaric's sword talent.

A red-haired girl with a curvy figure leaned toward her grandfather, asking in a curious voice,

"Really? Grandpa?.''

The old man narrowed his eyes for a moment, then nodded and smiled.

"I see."

"Watch him closely, Willa. He's a genius with footwork… Even though his sword style isn't as refined as yours, he can defeat you using just his footwork—a style I've never seen before."

Willa frowned, surprised that her grandfather could praise someone like that. Slowly, a smirk curved her red lips as she watched Alaric. It seemed she had assessed him as a worthy opponent.

"That's all you got? Weakling." The determiner smirked, thrusting the sharp tip of his spear toward Alaric with deadly speed, pushing forward relentlessly—until Alaric danced skillfully, leaping into midair to evade.

Alaric just clicked his tongue, ignoring the enemy's provocation and staring at the enemy's footwork to predict the enemy's next movement to evade most of the fatal blows. It was the plan he had from the beginning: evade and find the opponent's weakness. At the same time, he was also learning combat skills from the determiner, more or less.

Surely, for some reason, he thought the determiner's combat technique was solid but lacked flexibility and creativity, as if all the techniques he had learned came from a short-term organization.

A product from a factory ....It was quite good, but lacked the uniqueness.

If it had been a month ago, he would have stood no chance against that man. However, luckily—or unluckily—he had gone through harsh training in sword and footwork techniques, making him more capable of handling unpredictable situations in a match.

Realizing he had nothing more to learn from the determiner, he began shifting from a defensive style to an offensive one.

His footsteps became quicker, and his attacks grew more aggressive. All of his blows targeted a single weak spot in the determiner's defense that he had looked for before.

He exploited the empty moments after the determiner's next attacks, pressing him continuously and forcing him onto the defensive .

"That's all you've got?" Alaric smirked and delivered a brutal, precise kick to the determiner's chest, sending him sprawling across the floor like a ragdoll. But he wouldn't stop until he saw his enemy's pathetic face.

He leapt into the air, landing a series of thrusts to pierce the determiner's weak, frail defense. Eventually, in the next moment… no… it was the last moment of this fight.

"You lose, weakling."

Alaric rested the sharp edge of his longsword against the enemy's neck, as if to warn that if the determiner moved even slightly, he would move his sword the same.

The determiner shivered, glaring at Alaric with anger and embarrassment, but then he sighed, accepting his loss.

Chatter began to spread among everyone again. Most could barely believe what they had just witnessed.

The child of god was just too strong… he was literally a genius. Surely, there must be a reason he could surpass the challenges of the Gods.

"I've assessed that boy wrong," the old man sighed, then added,

"He's no genius at footwork… he's a genius at adaptation."

Willa frowned.

"What do you mean, Grandpa?"

The old man spoke evenly, choking slightly as he looked at his granddaughter.

"His combat technique improves with every passing match. It's as if he treats this fight like training, not an actual match. From the start, he could have defeated his enemy, but he restrained himself, like a predator playing with its prey before finally feasting."

"A predator?" Willa smiled, watching Alaric sheathe his longsword in a beautiful stance.

"Guess I should challenge him."

Alaric smiled and dismissed the screen system with a thought.

Soon, the referee approached Alaric and said politely,

"Congratulations! You've passed the exam… This is the Rank-E hunter card."

Alaric rubbed his chin and took the card, thinking with satisfaction.

"Rank E?..not Rank F. Great… I can get promoted to Rank E without wasting time."
