Hellbound With The Vampire King

Chapter 59: Late Breakfast

~In the royal house, within the Queen's Chambers~

Serena was feeling frustrated as she still couldn't get a signal to call her family, she wondered if she could just ring the bell to call for the maid like Eiravyn had instructed. But she felt like it was quite early to be disturbing the maids when she just arrived, she didn't want to seem like a nuisance.

Instead she laid down on the fluffy, comfortable bed. Serena stared at the ceiling but all she could see was an enormous crystal chandelier. She could really use Kathy's words of encouragement right now, she muttered to herself before she stood up and walked towards the study, stopping at the bookshelves.

As she looked at the books, Serena's brows started to knot at the books titles. When she first entered the room today, she had a feeling that no one seemed to have ventured into the room for a while but for just a long period of time. She had shrugged that feeling away when she came out of the room but now that she flipped through some books, she started to believe her instincts.

These books were obviously over a century-old but the strangest thing was that no one seemed to have opened them in a very long time because of how the pages stuck to each other the way they would do when they hadn't been opened in a while. She thought as she flipped through the pages. It was not like they were covered in dust or covered in cobwebs - they looked well taken care of. She realized that the servants must've taken their time in cleaning this room as the whole room looked fresh and spotless. But she just couldn't shake off the feeling that the room hadn't been used for a while.

Could it be that Eiravyn really had not brought any of his past girlfriends here or his past girlfriends didn't feel the need to enter into this room to read any of the books? Serena wondered as she ran her fingers softly along the spine of the books and sighed with great longing. Serena could not regard herself as a bookworm or a nerd, she hated being called as such, but she could already tell that she would be spending most of her time in this room, gathering information.

As she looked around the bookshelves, each shelf had a section labeled with the label each of the books in that section carried - she saw the section labeled — Romance, History, Fantasy, when her eyes instantly lingered on one section labeled the 'History Of The Vampire Kingdom. Then, right under that section, she saw another label — 'The History Of The Witch And Vampires' Enmity. Her eyes lifted to pick one of the book in the section of the 'History Of The Vampire Kingdom. titled 'How Do Vampires Survive?' When she heard a knock on her door. Why was it that anytime she was about to find out something, she was always interrupted. Either by a knock or this? Serena muttered while sighing, she swiftly kept the book back in the shelf before going back to her room to see who was knocking.

"Good day, My Lady. I'm here to inform you that His Majesty is waiting for you in the dining room. Your lunch is ready." A gentle lady, around her early twenties bowed at her. She was dressed in the same uniform she saw on the servants, and she looked so good looking.

Serena couldn't help but observe the girls beautiful appearance, she was quite good looking to be a servant with her red eyes, that seemed to burn bright in the light. As she stared at her, she couldn't help but imagine if she would ever make any friends here, as all the maids were treating her formally. Not that she really cared about making friends. She was lost in her thoughts, when Serena's stomach growled. Well, it's better she go tame her raging tummy. She muttered to herself.

"Please, lead the way." Serena said, as the maid started walking out of the room, urging Serena to follow her.

Serena was led to yet another humongous hall which was the dining hall. She observed the interior which was clean and neat with just the right touch of elegance. Large windows allowed ample light, giving it an open feel and she could pick up the familiar scent of mouthwatering aroma of food wafting through the room.

If she closed her eyes, she could easily mistake this place for one of those expensive high class restaurants in the human realm. Probably because of the scent and all the fresh air.

Somehow, she still couldn't believe that this was the place Eiravyn once called hell, well if this is hell she might have been living in a cold space all her life.

When Serena entered the room fully, the sight that graced her eyes was that of Eiravyn sitting comfortably in one of the golden chair at the head table and then rows of them on either side of the table.

The dining table had a rectangular shaped table in the middle, big enough to fit about twenty-four people.

The dining table was made of long, black wood, and the chairs were all golden color. On the roof, there was another chandelier hanging from the rooftop. Serena didn't miss the hearts in the eyes of the young ladies in the dining room as they peeled at Eiravyn in the head table. She concluded that they were maids in charge of cooking and arranging the foods in the dining table.

She looked at the extravagant plates of food on the table which looked divine and smelled heavenly as if they had been made by highly talented Michelin chefs, and she wondered who else was coming. She looked around the table and saw that the table was only set for two. What? Serena almost exclaimed aloud. All this just for two people.

"What are you doing still standing there?" Eiravyn strong masculine voice suddenly called to her, as he gestured for Serena to sit on his left.

"Ermm… Mr. Won. Are we the only ones eating all this?" Serena asked, as her eyes drifted to the fruits, waffles, and steak and several different spreads on the table.

However, as soon as the words left her lips, Eiravyn mood changed instantly, his eyes darkened…
