Serena stared at him for a long time the words the maid told her after lunch the other day slowly crept back to her mind of how Eiravyn had been lonely.
She felt grateful that he at least still had people by his side, and Ava was one of them — but at the same time, she wished she had been there by his side, and not some other girl.
'Then the girl must mean so much to him.'
Serena was left speechless by Eiravyn's words, but he continued to say.
"There have been a lot of candidates suggested by the elders to be my queen," Eiravyn said, but Serena cut him off and questioned.
"Like who?" Serena asked. Since they were on the topic, she wanted to know everything — she didn't want to be caught unprepared by any of Eiravyn's potential bride again, like what happened today.
Eiravyn looked at her with a hint of surprise on his face. She was the very first person who'd dare to cut him off and get away with it. This was why he liked and respected her —she was daring and bold.
"There's been a lot of women in my life Kitten. Some that I don't even remember their names because they mean absolutely nothing to me. Does that makes you jealous?" He asked her directly, and Serena shook her head. "Good, you should never be. What you should worry about is the present and the future. Not the things that have happened in the past," saying this, Eiravyn drew closer to her.
The cracks that appeared in the soul thread had started to grow stronger again, and Eiravyn could not be more happier.
"You, my kitten, are my present and future and no other woman comes close to you — so don't ever think of leaving me, because I need you."
Serena's inside jolted and she had goosebumps all over her body at Eiravyn's words that almost sounded like a confession. Somewhere her heart ached — she wasn't sure if it was for him or her. She stared into his eyes.
She still could not believe that just a moment ago, she had wanted to leave him — for just a small matter like this, without even hearing his side of the story. Somewhere in her heart, she knew there would be more women who would come out claiming to be Eiravyn's girlfriends, but like he said, she will focus on the future and not dwell in the past.
For once since that day, a smile came to appear on her lips in front of Eiravyn, she nodded her head and Eiravyn pulled her towards him, the need to have her close threatening to takeover his senses coupled with everything that happened today and the fear that he had lost his mate.
"I want you to tell me everything from now on." Serena said, and shook her head, "I don't want to hear this things from someone else." She said as she looked at him, waiting for his response.
Eiravyn had not let go of her slender waist and he leaned his forehead on Serena's and took a deep breath while the incident that happened a while ago replayed in his head. He didn't know what he would have done if he had lost her when he just met her.
He would have lost his mind.
Eiravyn held her close as he whispered in her ears. "You don't know what you do to me Kitten, if you do…" his voice trailed off, as he inhaled the intoxicating scent of his mate — her hair smelt of sweet jasmine flowers, and he wanted to stay here forever.
Eiravyn took hold of her hair, his eyes on her lips, he didn't speak another word, and moved his hands away from her hair. The back of his fingers traced her smooth skin from the top of her shoulders, down her arm that left when it reached her wrist.
The need to kiss her consumed him.
As Eiravyn leaned down to her, his lips a mere breath away from touching her own, Serena could feel the unevenness in her breath at the thought that he was going to kiss her. Serena's whole face lit up in a fierce blush as she realized that this would be the second time they would be kissing and they were in public place.
She was about to tell Eiravyn someone will see them when she heard someone cleared their voice from behind.
"Cough, cough!"
Serena stammered out of Eiravyn's hold as if she had touched fire — she'd noticed their position was very intimate, and they had been seen like that by someone. Her face heated up even more, up to her neck, and that was the most beautiful sight Eiravyn had ever seen.
"Damn it! What?!"
Eiravyn cursed at the person who was brave enough to interrupt his moment with his mate.
"I hate to interrupt this beautiful moment but… Your Majesty, don't you think you're forgetting something." A deep masculine voice said from behind Eiravyn.
Since Eiravyn's back was covering Serena's view, she could not see the other person's face, but she did recognize the voice. This made her face errupt in an even more fiercer blush as she purposely hid behind Eiravyn's back, not wanting the person there to see her face.
To say she was embarrassed was an understatement.
Serena realized that since she'd known Eiravyn, she had been subjected to one embarrassing moment after another. She wondered how much her little heart could take, as she tried to stabilize her breathing, her heart was racing wildly in her chest.
When Eiravyn saw the look of embarrassment on his mate's face, it made him even angrier at the person who'd interrupted them.
"This better be good, Caspian or I will kill you." Eiravyn said with a sly smile, using his broad shoulders to shield Serena properly.
"Too bad for you, Your Majesty," there was a great emphasis with the way Caspian said the word, 'Your Majesty' before he continued. "Because it's a good news, and I know how long you have been dying to have my beautiful head."
