CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror

Chapter 112: Night Assassination

A van pulled up near Selina's apartment. Inside were five masked mercenaries with guns in their hands.

"The target is a Psychic. Remember that. Put on your Wave Disruptor to avoid them messing with your heads."

The leader stood up and talked to the other mercenaries.

"Hehe. I've never fought a Psychic before. I wonder if they're really unstoppable like people say they are." A mercenary said.

"They're just human. Flesh and blood. Just like us. And they'll die in front of bullets." The leader racked his gun.

"Keep the engine running. We retreat immediately once the job is done."

The driver turned back and gave a thumbs up to acknowledge.

"Move out!"

The five masked mercenaries approached the apartment building.

The masked mercenaries encountered Mikey first. They spotted the security girl using his phone in the secure booth.

Mikey stood up and shouted. "Hey! Who the hell…"

A mercenary raised his gun and shot down Mikey mercilessly. Bullets penetrated his body and blood splashed inside the booth, painting the blue wall red.

All of their guns had silencers. They didn't make the shot completely silent like in the movies but still restricted the noise greatly.

The leader gestured for his teammates to continue inside.

When they disappeared, Crow emerged from the ground. His white eyes observed the dead Mikey.

"They're coming, Master." Crow mumbled.

The path to Selina's house wasn't empty. A few neighbors noticed the mercenaries. They were all gunned down before they could even make a noise.

The purpose of these mercenaries was simple. To eliminate the target and make sure there were no witnesses.

They didn't care about being sneaky. As long as everyone was dead. Their job was a success.

They approached the stairway and walked to Selina's apartment. The elevator would make them an obvious target. No professional was going to be that stupid.

When they arrived at Selina's floor, they saw a woman in white clothes with white hair standing menacingly.

Before they attack, Aurora placed her hands on the ground. Ice spikes shot up from beneath the stairs, attacking the mercenaries.

An invisible barrier stopped the spikes outside of their flesh. Two of them were flung to the air because of the sheer force of the spike shooting up.

"We're blown! Fire at will!"

The mercenaries split up and took cover, they aimed their gun at Aurora.

Their bullets were not ordinary. There were small rockets attached to the bottom of the bullets, enhancing their speed and penetration.

Aurora summoned multiple ice pillars to block the bullets but they were still able to get through.

The air around her formed a wind shield, protecting Aurora from the bullets. All the bullets were diverted and shot to the surrounding area.

Mater walked out of the apartment. He had just used Elemental Shield to protect Aurora.

"Stay sharp. These assassins are professional." Mater meowed.

He raised his paw as a small fire appeared in his hand. At the location of the mercenaries, a circle of hellfire emerged.

"Elements! This Psychic can use Elements!"

A mercenary shouted. He rolled out of the hellfire pit but was still burned. The flame caught onto his gear and wouldn't be gone.

The mercenary took out a white bottle and sprayed it onto the flame. It created a foam-like structure that protected his skin.

Hellfire wasn't that easy to put off. The fire continued burning.

A few of his teammates also faced the exact problem.

"It won't go away!"

"It's Psycho Flame! Just kill the Psychic and it will be gone!"

The leader dropped his rifle and took out his pistol. He placed some sort of optical device on his left eye. It was a piece of rectangular glass connected to an ear piece.

"Activating homing bullets!" A mechanical voice echoed in the ear piece.

"Lock on to the target. Bullets are ready!"

The leader aimed his pistol out to the balcony and shot. The bullets flew in a curve and shot at Aurora and Mater from the balcony.

The pink hexagonal dome appeared and blocked all the bullets.

"More defensive ability?! This Psychic is not weak, boys!"

They all thought Aurora was the target.

"Switch to explosive bullets." A mercenary switched the magazine of his rifle. He then shot at Aurora through the wall.

The bullets exploded when it came into contact with the concrete, making the way for the following bullets to reach Aurora.

The Glacial Wight summoned a few more pillars to shield herself. The explosive bullets destroyed them all. But Mater's Elemental Shield was still there. The wind shield pushed all the bullets out of their trajectories.

"I am tired of these mortals."

Mater jumped on the Dark Grimoire and flew higher, gaining a wider vision of the mercenaries. He opened his mouth wide and shot two Nether Spheres at them.

One aimed at the leader, which he managed to roll away. The second hit the cemented wall and dug through, hitting the mercenary hiding behind.

He screamed in pain as the ball carved out his flesh and bones.

Another mercenary rushed over to save but the leader pulled him back.

"Stop! He is dead! Do not kill yourself!"

The mercenary bit his lips and sat down.

It was at that moment that Crow approached. He was still invisible. His Nether Spear pierced through the heart of a mercenary, killing him instantly.

The mercenary fired his rifle before his death, hitting Crow.

Black smoke scattered in the air but he was still invisible.

"Non-Visual Entity! Turn your NES scan on, boys!"

The remaining three mercenaries put on a pair of goggles. In their vision, Crow showed up vividly as a silhouette of pure black.

A mercenary replaced his rifle magazine, switching to silver bullets. He shot at Crow.

Crow turned into a shadow and seeped under the floor.

Mater used another Hellfire Pit, which put more damage on the three mercenaries.

One of them didn't roll away quick enough and was burned to a crisp. They could still hear the scream of his soul after he shed his last breath.

"Whay the fuck is this Psychic?!" The remaining mercenary muttered in fear. He looked at the leader. "Sir! Do we still continue?!"

"Fuck!" The leader punched at the concrete wall. "The mission has failed! Let's get out of here before we are cooked too."

They didn't use the stairs this time and instead, jumped straight down from the balcony. Their boots lit up briefly before they landed, slowing them down just enough to dissolve all the force.

"Going somewhere?" Crow became visible. The spear in his hand grew longer and he threw it at them.
