CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror

Chapter 113: Zauber Enterprises

The javelin pierced through the neck of the mercenary and impaled him on the ground.

The last surviving mercenary, who was also the leader, kept running without looking back. When he came across the shadow under the building, dark chains shot out and restrained him tightly.

He wasn't even able to reach for his guns.

"What is this?!" The leader of the mercenary trembled furiously, trying to get out of the Chains of Shadow. All actions were futile.

A shadow bird approached him and turned into Crow.

Crow landed right in front of the leader.

"You shouldn't have come here." Crow knocked the leader out cold.

Mater flew down on his book.

"Is he alive?"

"He is, Master." Crow nodded.

"Good. Try to get as much info as you can before the police come here."

Crow grabbed the leader and pulled him into a storage room nearby to question him.

Selina popped her head out of the door. Her face lost color when she saw the majority of the stairs were broken beyond repair.

"The landlord is going to kill me!" Selina moaned.

"I think we have more at stake here, Selina." Aurora placed a hand on Selina's shoulder.

Inside the storage room, Crow punched the leader repeatedly.

"Who sent you? Atlanta? VOID?" Crow shouted in the leader's face.

The mercenary smiled with a mouth full of blood. "You know those names… You're one of us, huh?"

Crow punched at his teeth. A single tooth flew out of the mercenary's mouth. He coughed intensely as more blood flooded out.

"Don't waste your strength." The mercenary laughed. "From the day we entered this world. I have already made peace with death."

"Maybe." Crow took off his goggles and revealed his glowing white eyes. "I have a very particular set of skills. Skills that allow me to track down people.

We're in the same world. How long do you think it will take me until I find your family?"

"You wouldn't dare." The leader panicked for the first time.

"You should've known. For people like us, we would stop at nothing to accomplish our mission."

The mercenary held his breath.

"You promise me you won't go after my family?"

He knew that he would die. There was no way out. He didn't try to bargain for his life.

"If you make my job easier, I won't waste my time going after your family. I will only find the one that bought you."

"Zauber Enterprises... They were the one that issued the contract."

Crow's white glowing eyes stared at the mercenary. He could see that he was telling the truth. The man wouldn't say anything else. He made that very clear with his defiance expression.

"Very well. You can go now."

Crow broke the man's neck and spun his face to his back. The Abomination dropped the corpse on the ground and walked over it.

Selina picked up the phone and called Alister. Soon, the ACPD and the DSI rushed over to the scene. This was not merely an ordinary crime anymore. This was an organized assassination and the target was Selina, a young Psychic with a lot of potential.

The noises didn't keep her neighbors in the house for too long. They all heard the silenced gun shots and the explosion. They didn't go out when the fight was happening because they feared for their lives.

Once the battle was over, people started to come out. The first thing they spotted was Selina packing up her stuff and got out of the apartment.

"Selina? What just happened?!" A neighbor asked.

"Ugh…" Selina didn't think of an excuse yet but Crow was already there for a rescue.

He was carrying a suitcase for Selina.

The man in fedora and trench coat looked like those detectives that walked straight out of the movies. His face was covered by a black surface, which made people mistake it as a mask or some sort.

"There was a terrorist attack. The police will be here soon. I suggest all of you to stay in the house for now."

Crow didn't allow them to question further and pulled Selina always. Each of them carried a suitcase for Selina.

Aurora was also carrying a huge suitcase on her shoulder. Her slender frame was comical compared to the huge size of the suitcase on her shoulder.

"How the hell…" A neighbor mumbled.

Alister, Cole, and Lucy both came to the apartment building. Accompanying them were several police cars and black armored van.

DSI agents rushed down from those vans and went inside the apartment building.

"Selina! Are you alright?" Lucy Carpenter said. There was a certain worriness in her voice.

Aurora and Crow had already disappeared into the Dark Grimoire.

Mater was standing by the side, watching Lucy. He stroked his whiskers slowly.

'Is it her? I can't feel the virus on her though.' The cat thought silently.

"I'm alright. Luckily…" Selina shared a forceful smile.

"What happened?" Alister said.

Selina then summarized what had happened.

"Who would do such a thing?" Cole said. "Why did they target you? Do you have any enemies?"

Selina shook her head. "Not that I know of."

Alister's eyelids trembled slightly. "You do, Miss Isles."

"I do?"

"Enemies that your parents made." Alister squinted his eyes. "But there are only three people that know your real identity in the police station. Those are me, Cole, and Carpenter.

Either one of us betrayed you. Or our database was hacked."

'Oh? This guy is no joke. He is a detective. He gets the issue instantly.' Mater was impressed.

"Couldn't be… We'd never do that!" Cole said.

Then he looked over to Lucy. She was a new recruit but she rose very quickly through the ranks and became Alister's subordinate. She's very suspicious.

"What are you looking at me for? I will never sell out Selina!" Carpenter scoffed.

"Enough! Doubting each other is not what we need right now." Alister shouted. Then he turned to Selina. "This place isn't safe for you anymore. You need a new place to live."

Selina sighed in defeat. "I know. I even have to pay for the damage of the building as well. Moving will also cost quite a lot.

Ugh! I can feel my 50K slowly disappearing right now."

"Don't worry, Miss Isles. This is an attack on a lawful enforcer of the government. We will take care of the damage and the media for you.

As for your new place to live… The safest place in this city right now is the Institute of Supernatural Phenomenon."

The Institute. A mundane university in the public eye. Underneath, it was an academy for Psychics. It had the best possible protection outside of government facilities.
