CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror

Chapter 126: Cat Freeze

The next day, Selina woke up exhausted after the long training. She wanted to rest for a day but her evil black cat had other plans.

Selina froze when she saw the amount of bounties Mater had accepted for her. It was thirty bounties, Iron and Bronze Rank. Most were Iron Rank Bounties with a few Bronze Rank Bounties.

"Umm… Isn't this a little too much?" Selina said.

"There are another two weeks before university begins, yeah? We shouldn't be wasting time until then." The black cat's deep voice echoed. Its snickering laugh was extra eerie with that deep tone.

Selina sighed, "I really can't rest with you by my side."

The black cat stroked its whiskers, "This is what needed to become great, darling. Hardwork."

Selina quickly changed into something practical and sexy at the same time. She still wore an all-black outfit. But it was rather different from the usual gothic style.

Inside she wore a simple black crop-top with long black pants and a pair of boots. Outside was a long trench coat similar to Crow. Selina thought that she was a Bronze Rank Bounty Hunter already, she needed to look more respectful than before so a trench coat seemed suitable.

Selina then picked a similar outfit for Aurora but it was all white instead of black.

"Where the hell did you get all these clothes?" Mater rolled his eyes.

"I bought them, of course! I knew Aurora would need them."

The pair left the Institute and went to pick up Aurora, Crow, and Bash. They were all recovered fully thanks to their Shrines.

Aurora still hadn't gained more power. She could but she needed more Chaos to do that. That was the reason why they were going on a serial Bounty Hunting now.

Crow stayed at a bird and flew in the sky providing a bird's-eye view. Bash stayed in the Dark Grimoire because of his unique appearance. Aurora was behind Selina on the motorcycle while Mater was in the front.

"Alright. The first bounty is on a busy street called Horacle."

Selina rode the motorcycle to Horacle Street. The incident happened on the footbridge. The footbridge was a piece of structure connected the two opposite sidewalks above the street. This structure would allow pedestrians to pass the street safely without coming into contact with the vehicles below.

From the records that the Bounty Hunting Site provided, there were three accidents that happened right beneath the bridge. Three accidents in the exact same spot, not one centimeter far away.

All three accidents had casualties. It was a 100% death rate if there was an accident beneath the Horacle footbridge.

Selina parked the motorcycle at the side of the road. The group then went up the footbridge to check its status.

The black cat's golden eyes flashed red as it scanned the area.

"There is a wraith here…" Mater meowed.

The bridge was very crowded with pedestrians coming and going at every minute. It would be hard to deal with this wraith without alerting the pedestrians about the existence of supernatural beings.

"What should we do now?" Selina said.

"It's a weak wraith. Let's leave this to Crow. He should be able to deal with it."

Mater assigned the bounty to Crow. He, Selina, and Aurora went to a coffee shop nearby and waited for good news.

Crow turned back into his Abomination Form and landed on the bridge. He stayed invisible so the pedestrians didn't notice him.

"This wraith can hide its presence well." Crow mumbled.

He leaned onto the handrail and waited for the right time to strike. Unlike Mater, Crow couldn't spot a wraith with his eyes. But the wraith couldn't see him either.

The pair was having their breakfast in the coffee shop so there wasn't any hurry on Crow.

The Abyssal Abomination watched pedestrians walk back and forth. He noticed the Chaos in the air but surprisingly, not the wraith.

"It shouldn't be able to hide this well. Unless…"

Crow grabbed the handrail and jumped off the bridge. He hung onto the footbridge from above and observed its other side.

There was no wraith on the bridge because it wasn't on it. It was beneath it.

A pile of fleshy unrecognizable flesh and bones was hanging off the underside of the footbridge.

It reached its invisible fleshy tentacles out to all the vehicles down below. Most cars passed by too fast for it to reach but when it did, the drivers would lose their control on the steering wheel for a while.

It wasn't powerful enough to constantly cause car crashes, only making the drivers panic for a few seconds.

However, when it succeeded, people would certainly die. This was probably what happened to the other three accidents.

"Hmm. This might be a little difficult. Cutting it off would cause accidents to happen for sure. I need Master's help."

Crow reached out to the black cat telepathically and asked him for help.

"A pile of mass underneath the bridge?" The black cat meowed.

"What's going on?" Selina asked.

Aurora told her about the wraith under the bridge.

"It doesn't seem to be strong. But removing it would be a problem." Selina said, "Maybe we should ask the ACPD to block the street?"

The black cat sipped his smoothie through a straw. It was a strawberry smoothie.

People were staring at Mater openly. It's not every day that you see a cat drinking from a cup like a human.

The coldness reached Mater's brain. The black cat fell to the side. His entire body froze as it experienced the brain freeze.

Mater was making extremely funny noise while he trembled. Other people laughed non-stop when they saw a cat had a brain freeze.

"Grrgggggg. How dare you laugh at the dark lord?!" Mater screamed inside. His paws swirled around like a baby and he growled.

As intimidating as he wanted himself to be, he looked like a baby kitty seeking the attention of his mother.

Selina picked him up and cradled him like one. "There. There. You need to stop drinking smoothies so quickly."

"Grggggg. Ahhhh." Mater was very offended by Selina's action. But he quickly melted away after she pushed him into her warm cushions.

"I forgive you this time!" Mater said.

"You always forgive her." Aurora chuckled lightly.

The black cat stared at her with murderous intention in his eyes. The Glacial Wight sweated silently.

Mater got back up from his brain freeze.

"We don't need help from the ACPD. I have just the way to deal with it."
