Selina walked out of the studio. The people in the AF Forges immediately noticed her.
A blacksmith was hammering something in his studio when he saw the mysterious group walk out again.
Selina's group had become quite popular amongst the blacksmiths and roleplayers of AE Forges. Simply because they didn't open a shop there nor did they join any LARPing.
People had all kinds of rumors on what they actually did behind closed doors. Some said they were government employees. Some said they were cooking meth. Some said maybe they were just a pair of students messing around with the forge.
But today was different.
The blacksmith stopped what he was doing and lifted up his face protection.
"Gyat damn! That's a sexy piece of armor!" The blacksmith couldn't help but admire it. When he said 'sexy', he meant the craftsmanship of the armor, not Selina himself.
A few roleplayers were play-fighting in the field when they saw Selina walk out. Her deep dark armor with purple accents immediately caught their eyes.
"There is a serious effort putting in that armor." A roleplayer said.
"Look at that purple sword. Holy mother above. I want one!"
"Kill me, big sister!"
The rest turned their eyes to the last person that just spoke.
"What? I like strong women." The man shrugged and was completely nonchalant about what he wanted.
Soon, a group of cosplayers, male and female, approached Selina.
"You have such a nice suit of armor! It looks so real!"
"That's the most badass shit I've seen all day!"
"Where is that design from? Is it a game?"
Selina's visor only revealed her lower face. Her lips curved up gently. She bowed briefly with a hand on her chest like a real knight.
"Thank you for your compliments. But I have something to do. Unfortunately I can't accompany you." Selina said calmly.
"May we have a picture with you, please?" A female cosplayer looked up to Selina with two big pitiful eyes.
Selina looked over to Mater.
"Do as you wish, darling. It's fine with me." Mater meowed.
Selina nodded. "A picture would be fine."
They circled around her and posed. Some were warriors with full-plated armor. Their armor wasn't real but cheap steel that was made to look like armor. It looked cool but had no practical use at all.
Some were archers with form-fitting medieval tunics and pants. They had quivers on their back or their hips and each had a fake bow.
There were also assassins with big hoods and plastic knives. Wizards with sticks and robes.
Mater stroked his whiskers watching them get into the frame. "These people really enjoyed fantasy, huh? They would probably die from happiness if they saw my world."
Selina stood in the center of the frame. She plunged the Nether Sword onto the ground and rested her hands on its pommel.
"Say Cheese!" The female cosplayer clicked the timer on the tripod then quickly got back to position.
"Chese!" Everyone said.
"For Blood and Honor!" Selina calmly said.
The phone flashed.
Everyone looked back at Selina in surprise.
"Damn, girl! Didn't think you were a hardcore roleplayer!"
"That's some badass paladin shit!"
"Let's do it one more time. This time everyone gets into their character and says her line!"
Selina nodded. "Only one more."
The female cosplayer quickly set up another timer.
"For Blood and Honor!" Everyone shouted. A picture was produced. Everyone looked extremely in character.
For some reason, they all felt like they had another life somewhere out there. A life of hardships and unforgettable adventures.
The helmet was passively affecting them.
"I'll take my leave, warriors. Shall we meet again." Selina said.
"Shall we meet again, Dark Knight." They just named her that. It seemed to fit with her outfit.
Selina left with Aurora and Mater. She got on the black motorcycle and drove away. A knight in full steel armor rode an iron steed of the modern world.
"She's honestly so cool…" The female cosplayer looked after her.
Selina bolted on the road on the motorcycle. She was going much faster than usual. The wind blew in Mater's mouth and made his lips flapped uncontrollably.
Aurora hugged Selina tightly from behind, trying her best to stay on.
"She really has a need for speed now." Aurora said to Mater telepathically.
"She has fear no more." Mater answered.
They stopped at a red light. Selina took out a small overhead helmet and put on Mater's little cat head to avoid wind pushing onto him again.
The same kid from before saw them again. He was in the backseat licking his vanilla ice cream when he saw Mater in his full helmet and Selina in her full armor. Behind them was an angle of white.
They zipped away in a blur, leaving the kid staring at their disappearing silhouette. The ice cream fell out of the cone and through the car window without him noticing.
"Where is the next mission, Aurora?" Selina said.
Aurora was checking the online map via Selina's phone. "Turn right… Wait. Not that right! The previous right!"
Selina leaned her entire body and the motorcycle, turning sharply at the corner. Aurora almost fell off the seat but she managed to hang on.
They stopped at a quieter part of the town. The roads here were clustered together and leading to a small mountain in the middle of the city.
The neighborhood was a complex interconnected web of alleyways and slopes with houses stacked on top of each or side by side.
"Huh? These structures are very different from the rest of Aeliz City." The black cat meowed.
Aurora was checking the information of the cases on Selina's phone and also any related details
"It is a slum area, Master. Out of our remaining 29 bounties, 14 are here. There are many cases of homicides, suicides, shooting,... All types of criminal activity are conducted here." Aurora said.
"The playground is yours, darling. Have a taste of power." The black cat meowed in a high pitch. Then it laughed deviously.
"I shall cleanse this place of its filth." Selina parked the motorcycle. "Can you tell Crow to keep an eye on the bike, my darling? I don't want it to be stolen."
Mater's fur stood up when he heard the way Selina addressed him. Without fear, she became much more direct with him.
"Of course, darling."
Selina nodded. She placed the giant purple sword on her shoulders and entered the Slum Slopes of Mount Don.
