CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror

Chapter 61: Level 5

The pair returned to the cold storage first to let Aurora back into the Glacial Shrine.

"You know. I should buy some pieces of furniture here. Especially a bed. So that I can sleep here without going back to my house." Selina said.

"Agree." The black cat gave a thumbs up.

Then the two returned to Selina's house to sleep it off. Mater stayed awake for a little bit more to infuse his blood. His Chaos Well was running dangerously low.

"Alright. Level 5 here I come."

"2,200 kilometers."

"2,250 kilometers."

"2,300 kilometers."

"2,350 kilometers."

"2,400 kilometers."

"2,450 kilometers."

"2,500 kilometers."

"Level 5!"

"2,550 kilometers."

"2,600 kilometers."

"2,650 kilometers."

The cat shivered and let out a cloud of dark red.

"Power feels good. I made my way through half of the Chaos Infusion Rank already. Only five levels left to reach the first lock."

Mater brought out the Dark Grimoire to inscribe his eight spells. The pages flipped over to the ninth blank page.

Page 1: Chains of Shadow.

Page 2: Desperation Scream.

Page 3: Page of Imprisonment.

Page 4: Chaos Eyes.

Page 5: Reserve for Aurora.

Page 6: Nether Shot.

Page 7: Crow's Call.

Page 8: Water Clones.

Page 9: Empty.

"I have my damaging spells, Nether Shot and Desperation Scream. My restraining spells, Chains of Shadow and Crow's Call. My recon spell, Chaos Eyes. Page of Imprisonment and Water Clones are unique spells.

My eighth spell needs to fulfil the role that these spells haven't touched upon. A defensive spell is desirable but Aurora is much more of an asset than a single offensive spell.

An illusion spell it is. With that I can hide her antlers and conceal her identity more effectively. She can appear in public with me and Selina. An illusion spell also has its perks. It can be used more than just concealing Aurora.

I have three rank 1 spells that can do this job.

Minor Distortion. It bends the lights around objects, rendering them invisible. The issue is that I can't make an entire person disappear. The limit for this spell is a squared cube of one meter. It can perfectly hide Aurora's antlers and me but won't be effective on large objects.

Transformative Illusion. This can make an object appear as something else entirely. The limit for this spell is much larger, a squared cube of three meters. But in exchange, I can't turn invisible and choosing what the antlers appear as would also be troublesome.

Limited Presence. This spell has the largest effective area, a squared cube of five meters. It can't change or hide anything but simply make it become unremarkable that people might ignore it. Someone with high perception or wisdom might look right through it though."

Minor Distortion, Transformative Illusion, and Limited Presence. Mater got rid of Limited Presence quickly because that spell had too many risks, its higher rank variations were better.

The choice was between Minor Distortion or Transformative Illusion. In the end, Mater chose Minor Distortion as he thought of any way to combine other spells with it. It also could make him invisible completely, a nice perk that only a small creature like a cat could have.

The black cat extended its claw and scratched on the ninth page, inscribing his new spell.

The sketch was a glass cube with lines bouncing away from it.

When Mater finished, the lines turned into light yellow, representing sunlight. The cube took a slightly faded blue color.

[Minor Distortion]

[Effect]: You can make anything that is smaller than a squared cube of 1x1x1 meter to disappear. Lights bounce off or go through the affected area or object, making it completely invisible for the naked eyes. The spell ends after 6 hours.

[Cooldown]: 30 minutes

"Damn. Six hours is a long time. The original spell can only stay on for one hour. The limited Chaos Well doesn't seem that bad anymore."

Mater closed the book and went back to Selina's room. He squeezed into her shirt and slept inside the sea of wonderful scent.

Selina's phone lit up in the middle of the night. It was an email from the ACPD, confirming her certificate and new Bounty Hunter rank.

Tomorrow morning.

Selina stretched her slender body as she woke up. She noticed Mater was already up, looking through her phone.

"Is something wrong?" Selina said.

Mater pushed the phone toward her. He was reading the email of the ACPD.

"Oh? They've already done? They also tell me to go over to the police station to take my new Bronze Ankh badge. Well, I guess we will have to visit Detective Baltimore today."

"We need to pick up Aurora as well." Mater meowed.

They went over to the cold storage first and woke Aurora from her Glacial Shrine. Her Chaos Well was filled up to the max and she was ready to kill some more wraith.

In front of Selina's eyes, Mater climbed on Aurora's shoulders and tapped her antlers. The pair of white antlers disappeared before Selina.

"You just learned a new trick?!" Selina blurted out.

The goth girl came over and touched the space above Aurora's head. The antlers were still there, they were only invisible.

"Such a neat trick. With this, Aurora can go with us everywhere!" Selina said.

"Exactly my point." Mater meowed.

Aurora smiled and didn't say anything.

"Try these clothes Aurora. I brought some very pretty clothes for you."

Selina wore a black attire from head to toe with a pair of black boots. She had returned to the original goth aesthetic. As for Aurora, she wore a completely contrasting bright outfit. A pair of loose beige trousers with wide legs. The top was a sleeveless white shirt.

While Selina looks gothic and sexy, Aurora looks formal but alluring.

"Damn, girl. You really have an eye for style." Mater meowed.

The three of them went to the police station.

Cole greeted them when they arrived.

"Miss Isles. Mr. Mater! And this is?"

"This is my friend, Aurora." Selina said.

"She will have to stay here, Miss Isles." Cole winked at Selina.

For ordinary citizens that hadn't signed SCOA, they were not allowed to be told about NCE.

"Of course, Officer Cole."

"Aurora. Tell her to bring me to the toilet for a little bit." Mater meowed.

Aurora came to Selina's side and whispered. "Master wants to use the toilet."

"Officer Cole. May I use the toilet for a bit? My cat wants to pee."

"Of course, this way, Miss Isles." He spoke then froze.

Cole couldn't help but ask himself, 'Why does a cat need a toilet?'

But he didn't voice his suspicion. He knew Mater was a 'familiar' so he just thought that Mater was special.

The three entered the toilet together. There was no one in there but them. Mater jumped onto the sink and turned on the tap.

"You're not peeing, Mr. Mater?" Selina said.

Mater meowed.

"He doesn't need to use the toilet. He wants to create a clone and leave it in the police station." Aurora translated.

"Why?"

"Because someone has their eyes on you, woman. And I will find out who." Mater meowed.
