CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror

Chapter 80: Unexpected Party

Crow continued to go around town and interviewed the few people that encountered the group of Fake Hunters.

Surprisingly enough, even with his weird outfit, no one was giving him a side eye or questioned his authority at all. Crow made all the interviews go smoothly with his deep dark voice and politeness.

He was literally a gentleman from another century, a rare sight these days.

Selina, Mater, and Aurora followed his every step. They observed the way he worked. Selina learned a lot from these interviews, she was sure that if he had a similar bounty, she would do a better job than before.

Crow went to the last two people.

He knocked on the door of Abigail Johnson.

"Who the hell are you?" A man opened the door. He observed Crow from head to toe.

"Does Miss Abigail Johnson live here?" Crow said.

"She's my daughter. What do you need?"

Crow showed him the Ankh Badge. "Sheriff Carter informed me there were imposters the last few days posing as law enforcers. I am here to track them down."

"Finally he decided to deal with the brats." The man looked into the house and shouted. "Abigail! The police are here to see you!"

A young girl ran down the stairs. She was around 16 to 17 years old.

"What is it, Dad?!" The girl froze when she saw Crow. "Who is that?"

"That's a policeman. Now go out there and answer his question."

"How do you know he's not a fraud like the others?"

The man smacked her head gently. "Look at his size. Fraudsters don't have arms as big as your head. Answer his questions quickly and go back to study."

"Okay, Dad…" The girl grabbed her head pitifully. The man didn't put any force into his hand but she still acted like she was struck by a pole or something.

"Hello, Miss Johnson. You can call me Crow. Can you describe to me…"

"Woah. What with that get up? Why do you wear that suit? And why wear dark goggles in the middle of the day?"

Her father smacked her head again. "Stop asking nonsense."

He turned to Crow. "Sorry. Kids."

Crow nodded. "It's alright, Mr. Johnson.

I wear the suit because it can protect me. The goggles are protective equipment."

"Oh? Do you face a lot of danger? Can I become someone like you?"

Her father sighed and looked at Crow apologetically.

Crow chuckled lightly then answered. "Yes. There is a lot of danger. You can become like me. But you have to know the deal first."

"What deal?"

"To know that you can die at any single moment. To see your sisters and brothers pass away in your arms. To see what is so hideous you may have nightmares about it at night.

If you can accept this deal, then yes. You can become like me."

Abigail's face lost its colors.

"What do you want to know, sir?" The girl gulped involuntarily then asked.

"How many people in this fake hunter group?"

"At least 5."

"Can you tell me any traits about them?"

"There are two boys, three girls. Oh, one of them had a tattoo on their neck. I think it was a star of some kind."

Crow asked a few more questions before wrapping up. On his way out, Abigail's father spoke to him.

"You served before, didn't you?"

Crow didn't answer. The truth was he didn't.

"Do you know about the NCE in the lake?"

"You signed the Agreement?" Crow said.

"Yes, I did sign the SCOA. My uncle died in that lake before."

"I am here to take care of it."

"I hope you succeed, Crow. We are very grateful to have people like you out here."

The father nodded at Crow one last time before closing the doors.

The group had gone through most of the witnesses. The last one was Colonel Marlon Stewart. He was an old veteran living alone in his farm house.

When they got there, the door was opened and hanging loosely from the frame.

"Turn into a crow and get to the sky, Crow." Mater squinted his eyes and said.

"On it, Master." Crow turned into a bird and flew around the farm house, checking its status and finding anything unusual.

The black cat turned to Aurora and Selina. "Something's wrong. I will go in. You and Selina go together. Tell her to get her gun out."

"Yes, Master." Aurora nodded.

The Dark Grimoire popped out of the backpack and carried Mater inside the house.

Aurora and Selina followed after him. The goth girl took out the revolver. She carefully checked its cylinder before popping it back in.

Selina took a deep breath and held the Ankh Badge tightly. The Bronze Badge shook chaotically and gave a ringing sound.

It was a sign that something evil was in the house.

Mater didn't need the badge to know. He saw the thick cloud of Chaos enveloping the sky above the house.

Mater flew inside. The entire place was flipped upside down. Whoever was here, they wanted to find something.

Mater's eyes flashed red as he scanned the interior of the house. A pale gray zombie jumped out from beneath a table and clawed at Mater.

He shouted at it, pushing it backwards, and landed a Nether Sphere right at its head, exploding it to thousands of bloody pieces.

"Undead? Someone is controlling it. There is a Chaos User here."

Crow flew on top of the house. He noticed a group of hooded men in red robes. They were holding Colonel Marlon by the throat on the second floor.

"Where is it?!" The hooded man shouted.

Crow barged through the windows. He turned back into the Abomination form in mid-air. He kneed in the head of the hooded man, sending him flying.

Crow summoned the Nether Spear and circled around Colonel Marlon, cutting the arms of the hooded men that were holding him.

They backed off in pain and looked at their arms, the place the Nether Spear had cut. Dark veins appeared and quickly spread further.

"Dark magic?!"

The hooded men panicked. They flooded Chaos to their arms and forced the Nether to stop spreading.

Mater blew a hole from the ground floor and flew up. He floated beside Crow, protecting Colonel Marlon standing behind them.

The group of five hooded men stared at the pair.

"You're not the fake hunters. Who the hell are you?" Mater extended his claws in a threatening fashion.
