CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror

Chapter 94: Fire and Ice

There were cases with Warlock using range weapons such as bow and arrows. They used Glacial Imbuement to grant the arrows the power of Death Ice and shot it.

"I wonder if I can do the same thing with the bullets of a gun."

Firearms were a unique weapon only this world had. Mater was really curious about what would happen if he used Glacial Imbuement to the bullets.

In the end, he picked Glacial Imbuement out of curiosity. He wanted to try to enchant modern day weapons.

"Those are two spells. I also need one last spell."

Mater was looking at the pages of the Dark Grimoire. He noticed that he only had one single defensive spell. In the heat of battle, one spell would not be enough to save you. So Mater decided to inscribe the other defensive spell that he didn't pick before, Elemental Shield.

He was going to fight a fish at his home ground. Maybe the Elemental Shield could prove useful in the battle. Otherwise, it was a very solid defensive spell.

"Alright. Let us begin." Mater extended his claw and started scratching on page 13, 14, and 15 of the Dark Grimoire.

On Page 13, he inscribed the sketch of a shield. It was the iconic shield shape with a flat top and pointy edge. Around the shield were symbols of different elements.

Elemental Shield might be called 'elemental' but it couldn't use every single element. The shield could only be made from Water, Fire, Air, and Earth, the four main elements of Alchemy.

The symbols of the four elements hovered around the shield. Once Mater finished, colors flooded to the page. The shield had a shiny metal color while the four symbols each had red, blue, white, and brown for fire, water, air, and earth.

Mater moved on to Page 14, he began to inscribe Hellfire Pit. The pit was a magical circle with ancient symbols and runic letters upon it. The pattern was extremely complex and Mater had to put additional effort into completing the sketch.

An orange color flooded the page, turning the lifeless circle into a burning hellfire pit with orange shade.

Finally, he moved to Page 15 to inscribe Glacial Imbuement. This spell had a unique painting. The painting needed to reflect the state of being affected by Death Ice. But how do you represent this in a painting was difficult.

Luckily, someone in the past had already solved this problem for Mater.

The sketch of the Glacial Imbuement was Death Ice itself. The structure of it under a microscopic lens. Hexagonal prisms that placed upon each other and within its shape, was the force of death.

Once Mater finished, white and gray flooded the color of the page. The hexagons were mostly white but it had a gray center, symbolizing the power of death.

Mater let out a long breath after the demanding labor.

"They are finally completed."

[Elemental Shield]

[Effect]: You can create a shield out of Water, Fire, Air, and Earth. This shield cannot be bigger than a squared cube of 2x2x2 meter. The more elements you take from the environment, the more powerful the shield will be. The maximum durability of the shield is 75 Rank-1 Chaos Points.

[Cooldown]: 60 seconds

[Hellfire Pit]

[Effect]: Summon hellfire at the feet of your enemy within 15 meters. The hellfire appears on a 5-meter radius circle. Anyone inside will be hurt by the hellfire. There needs to be a surface for the magic circle to appear.

[Cooldown]: 12 seconds

[Glacial Imbuement]

[Effect]: Grant any object of your choice with the power of Death Ice. It will have the decaying power of death for 30 minutes. The maximum volume of the object must not be bigger than the volume of a 3x3x3 meter squared cube combined.

[Cooldown]: 120 seconds

"Damn. Glacial Imbuement has a very high cool-down. Still, it is still much shorter than the original 2 hours cool-down.

Hellfire Pit also has its cool-down decreased from 60 seconds to 12 seconds and its circle increased from 3 to 5 meters. Its range doesn't increase though. I would have liked to have a longer range Hellfire Pit more.

Elemental Shield has the cool-down decreased to 60 seconds as well and its durability jumped to 200 Chaos Points.

Overall, everything looks pretty good.

I am ready to kill that fish wraith now."

The sun was just coming up in the far East. Its sunlight shot over the gaps of the curtains. Selina continued to sleep peacefully. They did spend the entire night hunting down those cultists, she must still be very tired.

"Well. I guess there's nothing to do then sleep."

Mater vomited out two Chaos Spheres and gave it to Crow. The Abomination used up his reserved Chaos Spheres to fill up his Chaos Well and then took the two new Chaos Spheres.

Mater still had 19 Chaos Spheres in him and the 5,000 Chaos Points.

"Fly around, Crow. Notice me if there's anything." Mater meowed.

"As you wish, Master!" Crow bowed.

He turned into a crow and flew out of the window. Aurora was still sitting on her bed smiling at Mater.

"Guard the place, Aurora."

"As you wish, Master." Aurora bowed respectfully.

Mater then jumped onto Selina's bed. His soft cat body squeezed into her arms.

Selina woke up briefly and saw Mater. She smiled and petted him.

"You're already done? Come here then."

Selina grabbed him and hugged him tightly. The pair then fell into their sleep.

Somewhere else in the country. John Shaw sat cross-legged and rested his chin on his hand.

In front of him was the same secretary from before.

"The DSI reached out to us and asked you for assistance in taking down the NCE in Onoke Swamp."

"I am..." John spoke softly but he suddenly changed his tone and slammed his hands on the glass table, breaking it completely. "...NO ONE'S LAP DOG!

If they wanted my help, they would need to come and beg me."

The secretary jumped up in fear. She pulled the touch pad up high to cover herself instinctively.

"Relax, John. We have not had any big missions lately. Why not just go out? Change the scenery? I bet the DSI would pay us a lot of credits as well."

A feminine voice came up from behind. A red-haired girl walked in from the hallway.

John spun his chair around, eyes aiming at the woman.
