Elena didn't take a long time to reach her destination. Soon she could see the sand coloured walls of the fortified city, Jysis. Soon she got close to the gates.
Jysis was not like other border cities as it didn't have the function of letting anyone pass the border. The border was blocked from both sides. As the Gaim Empire and the Myrilia Kingdom were very old rival countries, they never tried to build any relationship between them.
This city did not have any regular citizens inside. All the people living in the city were somehow or other related to the army. Only a person over level 100 could enter the city. Due to all these reasons, this place was very well guarded.
...
As soon as the guards saw someone coming toward the city, they immediately notified the Major General. When they saw the person who was coming toward the city was alone, they became a bit relaxed. Soon they were able to make out the person's appearance.
When they saw that the person was a beautiful woman with golden hair, they suddenly relaxed.
That was because they were all able to identify her. In the last year, Elena's fame had reached far and wide. At least there was not a single person left inside the Myrilia Kingdom who didn't know about her. Even a remote border territory like Jysis, knew about her. And they were already expecting her here too.
As soon as Elena reached in front of the city gates, she was given a grand welcome by the guards. Soon a handsome, young man of about 24-25 steps out and introduced -
"Nice to meet you, Miss Elena. I'm Sandy Rogers currently in charge here. I appreciate your timely help in providing information and I'm very thankful for it. Please allow us to give you a warm welcome."
Sandy was quite tall, at over 182 cm. He had a well trimmed moustache. His skin color was fair but had a tanned tone to it. It was apparent that he was staying in this desert territory for quite some time. His figure was well built but he was not very muscular, instead he had a lean but strong physique.
Elena also responded in kind -
"Please don't mind it. I'm here to give you all a little bit of extra support. That's all. But as a S rank adventurer myself I'm not going to participate in the war heavily. Please do mind that."
"Yes, I was told as such. We are already very indebted to you for all your previous support but still you are giving us more. We can't hope for anything more. This is already too much. I have arranged for you to rest in the central headquarters. Please take it easy for some time. One of my soldiers will take the very latest information for you very soon."
"Okay. Please lead the way."
Saying so Elena finally entered the city of Jysis."
...
After Elena rested for about 2 hours, a young female soldier came to her room to deliver the recent reports. After taking a glance at it she became quite impressed by the people who were in charge of gathering information.
The information they were able to gather was all to the point and accurate. Elena obviously had a lot more knowledge about the whole scenario, but that was because she was Elena, a transcendental being. If her powers were really restricted to the level of a completely normal person, she would not be able to gather anymore information than this, so she was looking forward to meeting this excellent informant.
Elena told her intentions to have a meeting with the informant to the female soldier whose name was Milia. She was bewildered as how Elena knew that only a single person had worked on this mission. To clear her doubts, Elena answered her -
"After reading the report it was clear that the person who had written it had a very detailed idea about everything. So there could only be two situations where that could happen. Either this person was the leader of a small group of informants and he had a very tight control over all the members or a single person is responsible for all these.
Normally one would think that the first situation is more likely but if one pays very close attention to the report they could see the thought process by which the final result was obtained was very similar. Many individuals might have the same kind of thinking but it happening so many times is basically impossible. So that's how I reached the conclusion that only a single person was behind all these."
The female soldier was very impressed and her eyes were shining. She happily went to inform the great informant about the meeting. Elena carefully explained all these this young lady was because she identified this lady's true identity that even she didn't know. She was the niece of Lux, the recently deceased S ranker and she was also working as the assistant for the said informant. That was why Elena told her all that as a form of advice.
Soon Milia came back and reported that she was invited to have dinner with the informant. The Major General and the other three generals that she had not met yet would also be present there. Elena had no problem with this arrangement so she easily accepted the invitation.
...
Soon it was night time and the weather had changed completely. In the morning the temperature was quite high, so much so that any normal person might just faint due to the high heat.
But right now, in the night time, the temperature suddenly dropped and went under the freezing degree. The soldiers had to wear warm clothes to save themselves from the chilling cold. Elena wasn't affected by any types of environmental changes but still she wore a heavy cardigan just to not look out of place.
The dinner went smoothly. All three generals were over 50 years old. They had participated in several major and minor wars throughout their long career as they were also quite fond of young talents like Sandy.
The mystery informant was actually none other than Major General Sandy's aide, Saradina Oto. She had a unique ability to make other people with weak minds to see herself as someone else. It was a kind of mind manipulation ability. She also had high affinity with the earth element so the desert was a very suitable location for her.
So, using these advantages she was able to sneak inside the Giam Empire and was able to gather that much needed information. She was a beautiful girl with a medium height of about 170 cm. Her skin colour was slightly tanned indicating that she had been working in the desert for quite a long time. Her brown hair was tied in a ponytail and with her trusty spear she looked quite valiant.
Throughout the dinner, Elena was able to get to know all the participants better. They were going to work together for some time so it was a good thing to get to know each other. While doing so she was able to easily see the budding romance between the stern but kind major general and cheerful but shy aide. It was a very heartwarming scene to watch and Elena enjoyed this alongside the three old generals.
But the two individuals in question were quite awkward around each other, so their relationship was still not confirmed. So Elena decided to be the middleman if she got any good chance.
After the dinner was over Elena asked Saradina to come with her to her room. She had some details to discuss with her in secret. Elena was also going to use this chance to get to know more about the relationship status between those two lovebirds.
...
Elena went to bed at around midnight. She had a very fruitful conversation with Saradina and she was happy about it. Even tho a war was on the horizon, Elena was taking it very easy. It was actually no big deal to her. She was going to enjoy this war as a little vacation before she left this country to visit more places. So she was in a very cheerful mood.
At first, Elena had a very serious talk with Saradina and told her about the true plan that the Bull Beast king Hapis was going to use while fighting against them. Then she told her some little mistake that she made due to having minimum information to work with. It went on for about an hour and in that short amount of time Elena's number of fans had increased by one.
But as soon as the serious talk was over, Elena immediately pressed Saradina for all the juicy details about her relationship. She was able to gather quite a lot of information about this topic and was also able to know that Saradina was aware of her own feelings. But maybe because she was scared of rejection to maybe because she was shy, she had not been able to confess about those feelings.
So Elena gave her a pep talk and promised to support her. It was for the very first that that Saradina was able to talk about her feelings with someone and that someone was one whom she respected from the bottom of her heart, so she was quite happy.
And that was how the first day of Elena ended in the border city of Jysis.
