Chapter 259: Ch 259: Visit to an Elvin City

Yuusia city was a large sized city at the banks of the Mangshua river. It was one of the largest cities in the whole Ioikashi kingdom. The Ioikashi kingdom is ruled by five large clans. The royal clan had the highest authority and the clan leader of the royal clan was called the king. Other than the royal clan, four more clans held the second highest authorities and helped the royal clan in ruling the nation.

These four clans were known as venerated clans and the leader of the venerated clans took on the title of "Profound Venerable" and ruled over very large domains. Even though the royal clan was the overall ruler, the venerated clans almost had autonomy for their domains.

Yuusia city was the central city of the domain which was under the leadership of the Dayflower clan, one of the four venerated clans. On a certain day, this city welcomed the arrival of a golden haired, blued eyed elf girl.

This type of look was not uncommon for elves but this girl was a bit special. As a race full of beautiful people, their standard for beauty was very high. But even then, the beauty of this girl who entered the city just now was extremely high. The guard at the gate thought.

Obviously this extraordinarily beautiful girl was none other than Elena. She had taken on her elvin form and visited this city. She had shown the guard her adventurer card which was usable in all the continents of the mortal world. She had not made her rank visible in the card so the guard was unable to see her rank.

After entering the city the first thing Elena did was to search for an inn. It was her habit to get a place to live immediately after entering any new place.

After asking around a bit, she found a better option than just booking an inn. For some extra money, she could actually book a whole villa for herself and Elena did just that for a week. As the population of the elves was way lesser than humans, they had a lot of free space in the city.

After checking her new villa, Elena went outside to walk around the city. It was her favourite thing to do and she always enjoyed taking a leisurely stroll around a new city.

...

This elvin city was very different from a human one. The first difference that Elena noticed was that all the buildings were made out of wood. Not any normal wood but living wood. Stones and metals were not used anywhere at all.

Other than that, another thing that Elena noticed was the silent and peaceful atmosphere of the city. Normally a city this big would be bustling. Sounds should be heard everywhere. At least of a human town. But if compared to that, this city would almost look like a ghost town.

Even the market area, which was supposed to be the most noisy area of any city, was also perfectly calm. No one was shouting to sell their products and no one was haggling for money. All the shops had a magic board in front of their shop that described what kind of products could be found inside it. This system was working perfectly and even being very silent everyone was able to find the product of their needs without much trouble.

Elena also checked out the restaurants and food stalls and found out that most of the food stalls were selling vegetables or plant based food. There were very few rare shops that were selling meats or fish. Elena had thought that she would be able to find a lot of fish as there was a river just outside the city but that was not the case.

Elves as the worshiper of nature, generally preferred plant based food over animal based ones. It was not due to any spiritual reason but just because the elves just liked veggies a lot more than meat. They did eat meat but very rarely if they wanted to change the flavour of their taste buds.

Elena was a big fan of meat and animal related dishes. So she was a little sad that she would not be able to get much meat here. But still as a foodie, she could not just leave the veggies out, so she tried quite a few plant based dishes.

Elena was very glad that she did not allow her bias for meat to control her. The plant based dishes that she tried were extremely tasty. She knew that the vegetables grown by the elves would be better than the vegetables grown by humans but the difference in the quality was extremely wide which took her by surprise.

Not only that, but the elves had perfected the cooking process for the vegetables perfectly. Elves had a much longer lifespan than a human. So they had the time to leisurely experiment with their foods to find the perfect way to prepare it. It was something that was extremely hard for short lived species like humans to do.

The clothing culture of the elves was also quite unique. They used three main items to create their clothing. One was a plant called Nimsaka, which had leaves that were very suitable for making clothes. The second item was a unique tree called Hayatusi that could only be grown by the elves. This tree's bark could be processed into a very smooth fibre that could be used for creating clothes.

And the item was also the most expensive one which only very rich people could use. A normal elvin household needed to save up for several decades to be able to afford clothes made of this item. The item in question was a special type of fabric created by the divine trees of the High Goddess Alreuni's temple. These three were created by the high goddess herself so the fabric taken from it was extremely valuable.

Elves also preferred to wear loose clothes that covered most of their body parts. Tight fitting clothes were disliked by most of the elves. Only a few as warriors wear tight clothes and that was also because that type of clothing was more useful for close quarters combatants and not because they liked it.

Elena was also wearing a loose one piece cloth that covered her whole body. She normally wore tight fitting clothes as they were easy to move around but she did not dislike this loose clothes either. Actually she found this to be quite comfortable to wear.

Other than houses, foods and clothing Elena also found that the temperament of the elves was also quite different. Only the elves who were still young for an elf had energetic personality. But most of the adult elves had a very calm and steady personality. In a bad way their personality could also be described to be monotonous and boring.

But deep down that was not the case. The older elves had actually found something that they liked to do and had given all their excitement to that one particular thing. For that reason, they did not have much of a reaction to anything else but even it came to their interest, an elf would become super enthusiastic and could talk for hours if not days.

Elena conversed with several elves and noticed that they all acted very calm until the topic of their interest came up. Then suddenly they all became very excited and even their talking speed increased. It was quite weird to see a calm person who was talking slowly just a moment before to suddenly become so excited that they started talking faster.

Elena spent her very first day in the Elvin nation just walking around and talking with the normal people. Soon time passed by extremely quickly and Elena found herself in front of the adventurer guild when the sun was about to set.

This was supposed to be a time when most of the adventurers would be returning from their quests. Some managed to complete it and some of them failed. All in all it was supposed to be a busy and noisy time.

But the guild also looked very peaceful. There were quite a few adventurers and some of them were even drinking, but that scene was not roudy at all. Instead with so many beautiful elves together, it looked like some kind of painting.

Elena checked out the guild board and saw that the missions found here were quite normal ones. There was everything, from monster extermination and delivery to investigation and material collection. The only thing that was different was that there was not a single mission for bandit hunting.

Elena had found out that all the elves detest bandits and bandit-like behaviour a lot. And with long lifespan they did not find any joy in gaining short term excitement of a bandit's life. So there were almost no bandits in the land where the elves lived.

This was kinda disappointing for Elena as she really really liked to hunt bandits but she found it to be a good thing too as most of the times bandits just brought sadness and despair with them.

She did not do anything but to just check the guild a little bit and then returned to her villa to end the day. There she had another sumptuous meal with the veggies she bought in the market and then went to bed to finish her first day in the Elvin land.
