After waking up from her sleep Elena was a bit confused and then finally she was hit with a big cultural shock. While Elena went to bed after having her dinner, most of the elves did not and just went on normally like it was still the middle of the day.
Elena was quite fond of sleeping even though she did not need it. Seeing that the sleep cycle for the elves were different from humans, she decided to observe them for some time before adjusting to the elvin culture. As she was now visiting the nation of elves, she did not want to tie herself down with human common sense.
After walking up Elena went to a restaurant nearby and had another good vegetarian meal. This time she tried a dish made using precious mushrooms and the taste of this dish was amazing. Then Elena went to the adventurer guild to take some missions.
...
The adventurer guild was the same as always. Elena went to an empty reception desk and handed her guild card to the receptionist, now with her rank visible. The glasses wearing elvin receptionist was slightly surprised to see that the rank displayed on the card was S and looked up at Elena. Elena put her fingers on her lips to gesture that she should keep it a secret.
The receptionist understood the signal and slightly nodded her head. Then she spoke up a little bit loudly -
"Yes, miss Elena, please come this way. We will give you the designated mission inside the private room."
After saying so she escorted Elena to a private room of the guild and closed the door and activated all the blocking formations.
A new face was not rare in this city. Many elvin adventurers were also travellers and liked travelling around many places. So it was not rare. But Elena's beauty was a different matter. Her enchanting charm was able to memorize even elves who probably had the highest tolerance to a person's beauty as elves were a race filled with many beautiful people. But Elena's charm was just on a whole different level.
So if Elena wanted to keep her identity as a S rank adventurer under wraps, it was needed to have the talk inside a private room as many adventurers were paying attention to her. That's why this smart receptionist took Elena to a private room and even declared her a reason to dispel others doubts.
After entering the room, Elena told the receptionist that she was planning to take on some S rank jobs. The guild did not post the S rank jobs on the board as S rankers were super rare so no one was ever going to accept it from the boards. So most of the time, S rankers searched for jobs by asking a guild staff directly as Elena was doing currently.
After hearing Elena's wish a troubled smile appeared on the elf receptionist's face. She then said -
"Miss Elena, our city doesn't have any S rank adventurers in it so the amount of work of that rank coming to our branch is not much. Currently we only have a single S rank mission but even S ranks adventurers might not be willing to accept it. Will you like to take a look at it ?"
Hearing the receptionist Elena was quite intrigued. She had already guessed that this branch of the adventurer guild might not have any S rank work, so she was not surprised that only one work could be found here. What surprised her was the fact that this branch had a job that would be harder for even a normal S ranker to finish. Elena was quite interested to see what kind of mission it actually was.
The guild receptionist came back with a parchment in her hands. Then she handed it to Elena. She took it and took a look. Immediately she understood why the receptionist had said that normal S rankers would be unwilling to accept this mission.
The mission was to collect an item and the location of that item was also mentioned by the requester. But collecting that item was very troublesome if not impossible.
The item in question was one Forest Dragon's Leaf. Forest Dragons were one of the most respected draconic species living in the Gradvilde continent. Especially the elves considered them to be sacred beasts. So it would be hard for an elf to make up their mind to harm a Forest Dragon.
And even if a rare adventurer was able to make up his mind to fight a Forest Dragon, he would most likely die after trying to harm one. Forest Dragons were born at level 300 and the dragon that could be found in the mentioned location was probably a legendary beast over level 350. Even for S rankers, it would be an extremely tough opponent.
The request was still accepted by the adventurer guild because the compensation was good and the requester did not ask the adventurers to kill a Forest Dragon. They just need to pluck a single leaf from it and the mission would be completed. A S rank adventurer with the thief job might be able to steal a single leaf without alerting the dragon, so there was a chance that this mission could be completed. So it became a legitimate S rank mission.
In some cases the adventurer guild kept the identity of the requester a secret but the person who made this request had no need to hide hers so the guild receptionist also told Elena about her. She was a personal alchemist for the venerated Dayflower clan and she needed this leaf to make a very important medicine for the clan leader himself. Her name was Dalia and Elena could even contact her directly if she wanted to increase the reward.
Elena had no need or wish to increase the reward anymore. What she was offering was quite fair for the difficulty of the job. An adventurer would not be blamed if he or she decided to increase it as the job was really too tough but Elena had no need for that little bit of extra money.
She officially accepted the job and decided to finish it within the current day.
...
A very beautiful male elf was working while sitting on his chair. Suddenly a servant entered and bowed to him. He had something to report. The man looked up from the stack of papers on the desk and allowed the servant to speak.
"Master, the adventurer guild just sent us news that a wandering S rank adventurer had accepted the request that was put up by miss Dalia."
The man who looked like a steady mountain that could not be moved immediately opened his eyes wide and an excited look appeared on his face. He then asked the servant -
"How strong is this S rank adventurer ? Is this person strong enough to get a leaf from a mighty Forest Dragon ?"
"I'm sorry master but the guild refused to give us any information about this person. But the guild mentioned that this person might be willing to meet you after completing the mission if master makes a request through the guild. Miss Margaritta herself finds this person to be very capable."
"Oh, if that is the case then this person might actually be able to bring the Forest Dragon's Leaf back. What an amazing new day it is. I have to tell Dakota about it."
Saying so this person immediately left the room happily. Seeing his master in a high spirit the servant silently bowed his head and wiped a little bit of happy tear from the corner of his eyes. This excited person running toward his wife's room was none other than the leader of the Dayflower clan, Hendrick Dayflower, who could guess that after seeing him like this, the servant thought.
...
When the clan leader of the Dayflower clan got the news of the mission being accepted, at the same time another person was informed. This person was living in an isolated small villa located inside the Dayflower estate. She had a head full of bright red head and deep azure coloured eyes.
She was none other than the renowned alchemist, Dalia Feyline. She was a genius who was able to become the youngest person in the history of Ioikashi kingdom to become a full fledged great alchemist. She had submitted a total of one thousand and seven papers on various subjects to the alchemist guild and she was also inventor for 5 new alchemy recipes.
But this person with such great fame was depressed for the last few months as she was unable to find a material to help her best friend and good sister. So when she suddenly heard the news that someone had appeared in the city with the capability to collect this item she immediately became excited and went to the adventurers guild to meet this person.
But her luck was not good as after reaching the guild she heard that this person had already left for the mission. Now who knows for how many days she needed to wait to get her hands on a leaf of a Forest Dragon. So Dalia decided to meet with her second best friend Margaritta, who worked as a guild receptionist. They could spend their time together chatting and that way the wait would not be boring. Thinking so she went to the inner part of the adventurer guild.
