Restart: The World Savior's New Beginning

Chapter 261: Ch 261: Completing the S rank Mission

After accepting the mission Elena left the city and flew toward the north-eastern direction. A few hundred kilometres ahead there was a forest in this direction and that forest was the home to a Forest Dragon.

Forest Dragons were a very important part of a forest. It's not like a forest could not survive without a Forest Dragon, but any forest that was inhabited by a Forest Dragon would be better and more resourceful than other forests with no forest dragon.

The forest where Elena was going was called the Great Forest of Nores. This forest had three large or medium cities around it and all three of these completely depended on the forest for their economy. That was a direct proof of how valuable that forest truly was.

If the Forest dragon died then that forest would not be able to produce even ten percent of the resources it was currently creating. Forest Dragons were also one of the most docile dragon species that was not fond of fighting and destruction. If a person didn't provoke or attack it, that person would be able to stay alive even after encountering this super strong beast.

Forest Dragons did not consume any type of meat. Did not even need to eat anything at all. The natural energy of the forest was enough for it to sustain itself. They slept for the majority of their lifetime. These dragons were almost like trees.

Normally a dragon should be able to speak and converse like regular intelligent people but a Forest Dragon's intelligence was very low like that of a regular animal, so it was impossible to make conversation with it. That was also why others could not negotiate with it for a leaf, which was possible to do with other dragons.

Elena had no wish to harm or even alert the sleeping Forest Dragon. She also did not just want to use her broken abilities to take the leaf. Instead she wanted to get the leaf by doing something that was very much possible for her to do with her level 300 powers and no special skills.

After thinking about it she made a plan. Elena used wind magic to create a gust of wind that travelled throughout the forest many times in random directions. Like that this gust of wind was able to become a natural part of the forest. Then it started to circle around the Forest Dragon. At first the dragon showed a bit of discomfort but soon got used to this peculiar wind.

So when the Forest dragon was completely relaxed, this wind silently got a leaf from the dragon. It had to use a bit of an effort as the leaves were not so easy to break from just a simple gust of wind. But those leaves were truly insignificant to the Forest Dragon so losing one leaf out of thousands was not a big deal to it.

After getting the leaf, the wind did not leave immediately. Instead Elena sent another gust of wind and it handed the leaf to it, and that gust of wind brought the leaf to Elena. The whole operation was very smooth with Elena's perfect control.

The previous gust then just stayed with the dragon for a few more hours and naturally disappeared. It was very common and the dragon did not notice anything wrong and kept on sleeping. The operation was a perfect success.

...

Elena was very meticulous with her preparation so the whole process took quite some time. She did not use anything other than what a normal level 300 plus wind mage would be able to do. Yes, one needed to have a very good magic control to complete this task, but that was nothing impossible for someone who had been practicing magic diligently for a long time.

Taking the leaf Elena came back to the city. She then had a light meal this time with some river fish and then went to the guild. After entering it she was unable to find the receptionist with golden hair and glasses, so she asked one different receptionist to call her over.

Normally it was possible to hand the completed mission to any active guild receptionist, but that was not the case for S rank requests and especially when Elena did not want many people to know that she was a S rank adventurer. For S rank requests, the receptionist who gave the request was needed to see through it to the very end.

The same was the case with designated missions. So Elena used that as a smokescreen for calling out to that receptionist named Margaritta. Soon she was taken to a private room and Margaritta entered the room alongside another elvin woman with bright red hair.

Margaritta the red haired woman as Dalia Feyline who was the requester for Elena's S rank mission. She was also the great alchemist who was currently working for the venerated clan ruling this city.

Dalia was a pleasant and intelligent woman so she was quite easy to talk to. She did have a tendency to be quite theoretical when talking and a normal person with no specialised knowledge might find it boring or annoying, but for Elena it was not a problem. Actually she was quite impressed as how well Dalia could bring up many theories in casual talking.

But today's main topic was not that and soon Elena took out the leaf of the Forest Dragon. Dalia looked extremely excited after seeing it which was quite unusual for elves, but Elena was able to understand her reaction. This leaf was quite a rare ingredient. So as a researcher, seeing something like that face to face was definitely very exciting. Elena would actually feel weird if a researcher did not get excited after seeing it.

After checking the leaf over and over again and making sure that it was truly a leaf from a Sacred Forest Dragon, Dalia asked Elena a bit hesitantly -

"Umm, miss Elena, if you don't mind, can you tell me the method you used to get this leaf. Ahh, if you're not comfortable telling me then no need to worry. And I'm also not going to tell that method to anyone. I'm just asking as I'm quite curious."

Seeing Dalia's nervous expression Elena gave her a gentle smile. Seeing that smile both Dalia and Margaritta suddenly felt like calling Elena elder sister for some reason. But they put that thought in the back of their minds and listened to her carefully.

"I don't mind telling you and I also don't mind if you tell others about that method. It is a tricky method but quite simple none the less."

Hearing that both Margaritta and Dalia's face lit up in joy. They eagerly waited for Elena to continue. Elena told them how she used the wind magic and what type of magic formulas she used. As Dalia liked technical talk, Elena tried to be as technical as possible while describing the magic she used.

She also told them the detailed process by which they would be able to judge if the wind had become a part of the forest or not and also explained the way to judge if the Forest Dragon became comfortable with the new wind or not. Then after telling how she used the same method to bring the leaf to her with the assistance of a different wind Elena finished her explanation. Currently both Dalia and Margaritta were looking at her with immense wonder in their pretty eyes.

Elena had explained all the easily but they were not such a simple thing at all. The procedure she mentioned to make the wind a part of the forest was so ingenious that Elena would be able to get the position of a great scholar by just mentioning it. But not only that but she also mentioned a process to judge a Forest Dragon's mood. That was even more amazing.

As a very famous S rank sacred beast, the Forest Dragons had been the subject of many researchers but not much was known about them as it was an extremely powerful S rank beast. So almost no one knew anything more than just rumours about this great beast. Dalia's eyes lit up and she exclaimed -

"Elder sister Elena, please write your discoveries as a report and submit it to the Central Academy. You will be able to immediately gain the title of a Great Scholar or even a True Intellectual."

Yes, Dalia had joined the sister squad and she was not alone. Her friend also joined her in the sister society.

"Yes, big sis Elena. That will be amazing. Our whole nation only had three people who were able to join the Central Academy. Even for a S rank adventurer, that's an amazing achievement."

Seeing their reaction Elena thought that they were reacting too much. For any decent S ranker of this world who had some interest in research should be able to gain this knowledge. But powerhouses of S rank were truly rare here so that was probably the reason why they were getting excited by such simple things. Elena explained that to them too and as Dalia and Margaritta were not S rankers themselves they thought that it made sense.

Elena also gave permission to Dalia to write an article explaining what she said with her name, but Dalia insisted on mentioning Elena's name there and she agreed. How could she turn down such a simple request from one of her little sisters.

Then both Dalia and Margaritta asked Elena to come with them to see the reason why they needed this leaf and Elena agreed.
