One day after fighting in a large scale battle non-stop for 3 days straight, Eldriana and her team were resting in a valley after the temporary non aggression pact was signed by two lead commanders. So currently they were enjoying a little break which was very much needed after three hard and sleepless days.

But still as a military unit they could not let their guard completely down. Half of them were sleeping and the other half were awake while guarding the camp. As Eldriana needed very little sleep due to her special physic, she was also awake and was working on some paperwork.

Even though it was not much, as a general Eldriana needed to submit reports sometimes and also needed to do some paperwork. She had a hard time doing it at first but now she was quite comfortable with it and could finish the job quite quickly.

Just as she was about to finish the work suddenly she noticed something and looked toward the north-eastern side. She could feel a strong presence coming from there. But that side was supposed to be guarded by a large clan's personal army, so it was weird how the enemy was able to come this close to their camp and she did not get any news from them.

But this was not the time to wonder about such things and she was able to feel more and more strong presences and they were too close. So, no one would be able to run away and they had to grit their teeth while fighting the opponent with everything they had.

Eldriana immediately shouted to wake everyone up. All of them were trained for the military, so even though they had to suddenly wake up, that were still able to quickly get their equipment and got ready for the battle.

From the north-eastern side, a total of 80 or so people show up. But the most scary thing was that seven of those people at the front were giving off a very powerful aura and were all A rankers. Eldriana had just reached the A rank and was waiting for a promotion so she was still a brand new A ranker. So even with her incredible ability, it would be extremely hard for her to take care of 7 A rankers and probably some of them were quite a few levels higher than her.

Eldriana was still confident that with enough time, she would be able to handle all seven of the A rankers, so her subordinates or more like family members just needed to stay alive against 70 or so people which should not be too hard with their capabilities. So Eldriana immediately ordered to start the battle.

There was an unwritten rule on the battlefield. It was something that was not mandatory but most of the powerhouses maintained this rule most of the time. That rule was to not bully someone of the weaker rank. If a higher ranking person was allowed to kill weaker ones willy-nilly then the death toll in any battle would rise to an insane degree.

But today those people who came to sneak attack them did not follow that rule, five of the seven men came to fight Eldriana but two remaining ones went for her weaker subordinates. They had also grown quite a bit in the past year with the war but the strongest among them was still in the early B ranks. Nowhere near powerful enough to fight against an A ranker. At first, the A rankers wanted to use two of them to stop Eldriana and five others to kill her subordinates, but in just two exchanges those two A rankers were on the verge of death. Only with five A rankers joining forces were they able to reach an equilibrium with her.

Her 20 subordinates did their best to stay close to each in order to support and defend properly. That understood that the situation was very bad and their only chance of staying alive was by defending themselves with all they had and to wait for Eldriana to finish her fight. Eldriana also understood this and did her best to kill all her opponents as soon as possible.

But as she had expected, these A rankers were higher level than her. So defeating all of them in such a short amount of time was easier said than done. And even though her family was still able to somehow hold on, she knew that with 2 A rankers it would not be long for their defence to crumble.

Soon the first casualty appeared. Vena was unable to parry an A ranker's attack perfectly and her stance broke. Just as that A ranker was going to pierce her heart Udin appeared before her to take the hit. He tried to divert the attack but it was too strong and with her unstable position, he was unable to do much. The blade pierced his abdomen. It was a fatal wound.

"Ah, so I'm going to die, huh. I'm glad that I was able to protect that useless girl. Hmph, I hope that all those idiots will be able to make it out alive as I go to the lap of goddess Alreuni first." That was Udin's last thought before he breathed his last.

After that it went downhill faster and faster. The male twin was a good scout but not very good at frontal fights like this. So soon he was injured badly. Seeing that his twin sister immediately became nervous and came close to him in order to heal him. These twins only had each other to rely on for all their life. They did not even have a name as their father and mother did not bother with it. So seeing her beloved brother hurt, the sister was not able to maintain her composer and that was a fetal mistake.

One of the soldiers immediately took the chance when she was distracted and decapitated her. Seeing his little baby sister's headless body the male twin lost his mind and bit her killer to death, but was soon killed by a different soldier.

Asoka got hard countered by a fire mage and got badly burned. She even lost her eyes in the fire. Just when a soldier was going to pierce her with a spear, Jake took the attack for her and died in her arms but not before whispering "I love you, Asoka. Please live on." in her ears.

Tears started to fall from her eyes as she muttered slightly -

"I'm sorry Jake, I love you too. Let's meet in our next life. Please wait for me."

Then she burned all her life force to make her ice magic go rampage which killed all the soldiers around her and enveloped her and Jake inside an ice coffin for an eternal rest.

Nathan swung his weapons over and over again and killed more and more. As one of the B rankers he had the duty to do better than everyone else. He was not a very smart guy. But he thought that the more enemies he was able to kill, the better the chance of survival for his comrades would be. So he did what he was best at doing. And that was to fight and fight and fight. He fought until his body was unable to move anymore and died while still standing and brandishing his weapon.

As her precious family members were dying, Eldriana was unable to do anything. She was tied down by five A rankers and they were also using a strong magic item to inflict various abnormal elements in her body. And the weapon they were using had healing resistant properties, so her wounds were healing in slower than usual pace.

But after seeing the death of her subordinates, she suddenly erupted with unseen strength and killed one of the A rankers in just a few breaths. Her violet hair turned silver as she burned her life force to nothing. But soon the other two A ranked joined to fight her and her boosted state did not last too long and she was again at a disadvantage.

But at least she was able to pull away all the A rankers from her subordinates. Would that be enough to turn the tides ?
