Now that Elena and Tomoe had completed both of the S rank missions, now they just needed to complete the A rank mission to be done with all the missions for the day or night as it was the land of eternal night. But there was a big problem with that. The last mission was really very troublesome.

It was a mission to find a person who was last seen in this city about a decade ago. The main target of this search was actually a gem that this person had and finding any guaranteed information about it would be needed to complete the mission. The amount of details that was provided was very little and the adventurer guild probably would not even have accepted this mission to post if the reward money was not extremely high.

So for the person Elena and Tomoe had the description of a fare skinned male with white hairs mixed with red and blue. His eyes were also of two different colours of red and blue. One might have thought that all vampires had red eyes but that was not the case. Their eyes could be of various colours but all of them would have a slightly reddish aura around it for sure.

From this description it sounded that this person's hair colour was very distinctive and with his heterochromatic eyes, it would not be hard to find him. But that was not the case. Most vampires had different coloured hairs mixed with their primary colour. It was a way how their elemental affinities represented themselves. And quite a few vampires also had white as their primary hair colour.

The different coloured eyes were rarer but for vampires with very powerful affinity, it was also not uncommon. So even though these clues were not bad, after knowing that the last confirmed sighting of this person here was almost a decade ago, that made everything to be more uncertain.

As for the gem which was the primary target of this search, it was only said that the gem was blue in colour with a slight green tint to it. It was a valuable elemental stone and was about as large as a finger of a grown man. Such a valuable gem of this size was really rare and the person who made this mission most probably had managed to show some proof of his involvement with this gem for the adventurer guild to accept this job.

Elena stopped thinking about these things and focused on the mission. The best place to start this mission would be the place where this man was last seen which was an inn called "Willow's Breeze". But unfortunately this inn had stopped functioning 3 years ago, so doing that was no longer possible.

But Elena had managed to learn about the person who was the owner of this inn and she was currently planning to meet him hoping that he might be able to tell her something about this person. Normally if the inn owner was a normal human Elena would be sure that he would not be able to remember anything but vampires were able to remember a lot more as a long living, almost immortal race so she still had some hope.

Meeting this person was easy enough as he was currently running a shop selling various statues. And he was also able to remember the person who was mentioned by Elena. This person was a bit greedy which was actually a good thing for Elena. Showing him some girl coins was enough for him to tell Elena everything honestly.

Elena did able to get a lead from this man but if that was true this search was going to get a lot more troublesome than it already was. According to the greedy shopkeeper, this person booked a room in his inn with the name Harris and he was some kind of goods broker. It looked like this business of his was going very well and he was earning quite a lot.

When he left his inn, he looked to be in a hurry and it was almost like he was running away from someone. This shopkeeper had actually seen the gem that was mentioned in the mission and that Harris guy was trying to find a buyer for it.

So if that was really the case and if he actually managed to find a buyer especially if from a black market, then solving the case without using her supernatural powers would be almost impossible. But for the time being Elena was going to meet with another person who also had many deals with this Harris guy according to the shopkeeper. So she might know a bit more about it and might even have bought the gem herself.

To meet this person, Elena and Tomoe came to the red light district of the city. Even as a long living race, vampires were quite active sexually unlike elves. So almost all the decently big vampire cities would have a red light district in it.

Red light districts were nothing new to Elena but it was Tomoe's first time in such a place. She did not mind this place and the ladies with revealing dresses as her fellow villagers and she herself also dressed almost the same way. She did find the seductive and slutty way these ladies acted to be a bit weird but it was not a big deal and Tomoe soon got used to this atmosphere.

The person whom they were planning to meet next was the owner of a brothel called Spring Pavilion. It was a reputable brothel of this city with top tier prostitutes working in it. She was also well known to be related to various shady organisations so her reputation in the city was high and she had quite a bit of influence.

The Spring Pavilion was a beautiful building that was decorated in quite good taste. There were no ladies waiting outside the building to attract customers like most other brothels were doing but still this place had quite a lot of traffic. So it was clear that the reputation of this place was quite high.

Elena and Tomoe entered it which did not raise many eyes as even in an all female brothel, various females actually regularly came to enjoy their services. But then Elena asked to meet with the owner of the place, everyone was surprised. Obviously the lady in the reception immediately tried to reject this request but a slight glimpse at Elena's adventurer card stopped her.

Their brothel was quite powerful and was able to stand tall against most troubles. But a S rank adventurer was a different story. Even A rankers were a big deal for them and would immediately be a VIP guest, so rejecting a S ranker was out of the question.

But still, she could not just let them go to the boss lady without asking for her permission so the receptionist lady fearfully requested Elena and Tomoe to wait while she went to ask the boss if she was willing to meet them. Elena and Tomoe had absolutely no reason to reject this request and they started to wait in a special room.

Now how was this investigation going to turn out ?
