The start of the battle was not very exciting as both of the fighters were sizing each other up but soon Tomoe decided to go on offensive when she felt like it was the right opportunity. Even though Karl was mostly a mage, as a duke class noble vampire his physical abilities were top tier and he was not worried about close quarters combat.

But as soon as the close quarters combat battle started, Karl almost got killed within only seven exchanges. His head was still attached to his body only because he was a noble vampire with extremely powerful regeneration capabilities. But still he had to spend an insane amount of mana for this regeneration which was not a good thing, specially because he was just at the very beginning of his bout.

Karl regretted his prior behaviour of underestimating Tomoe because she looked too young. Not only that but Elena had a very strong presence so Karl had almost unconsciously disregarded Tomoe a little bit as she was beside Elena. This turned out to be a big mistake.

So he decided to go all out or this practice bout would just become a one sided beatdown where he would be beaten black and blue. He would probably be fine with his regeneration but still too much regeneration could even eat away at his life force.

Immediately a black mist was released from Karl's body and covered the whole arena. But just a simple swing of Tomoe's sword was able to clear all the mist away. But now there was a total of seven Karl's in the arena. Tomoe at first tried to sense who was the real one but soon she felt that her senses were not powerful enough to find that out.

So she decided to not think too much about it and immediately went into the offensive. She was planning to attack all the clones in a very short amount of time to find out which one was real and which ones were fake. But this plan did not go well as all the clones fought back with almost the same combat capabilities.

So, Tomoe started fighting against seven Karls at once. The power of Tomoe was clearly displayed when she was able to fight against seven of these clones without being dominated. But seven was still a very high number and Tomoe was not having an easy time at least.

Elena immediately understood the trick that Karl was using. Aizawa told her that there was only one real Karl and all the other clones were fake. And Karl was using his magic to fight in such a way that it looked like all the clones were real.

That was a straight and simple lie. All the clones felt like real was because those clones were real. It was just that simple. The regular vampires believed everything that a respectable duke like Karl said and so they thought that the clones were fake.

Karl probably had a unique skill that allowed him to clone himself. From what Elena was able to see with her level 666 senses and without using any of her broken means, the repercussion for this skill was not very serious so this was quite a powerful skill no doubt.

After the battle lasted for over an hour and both of the fighters had thousands of exchanges, no clear winner emerged. Tomoe was still able to fight back property and duke Karl Moronto was also not tired at all. But Elena was able to see that the battle was coming to an end.

Just as Elena had expected, after such a long and tiresome battle, it was Tomoe who made the first mistake. In one of her sword swings, she committed too much and put more power behind the attack than needed. This created a gap in Tomoe's sword form. It was a very slight gap but a gap none the less.

At this moment Karl showed that his experience was really miles ahead of Tomoe and used that gap perfectly. Just one perfectly placed attack from one of his clone's spears made that gap bigger and the other clones utilised on them. In almost no time Tomoe was slightly injured and had to take a step back for the first time since the match started.

So far Tomoe had already damaged two of the seven clones so badly that they were out of commotion. But after getting this injury, she also started to create more and more gaps. But still even though it looked like she was on a back foot, Tomoe was still not defeated. She could still come out at the top. The same way, Karl also had a high chance of taking the win home.

Just as both of them heightened their killing intent and got ready for the second round, suddenly a huge pressure fell on them. Both Tomoe and Karl felt like a whole mountain was put on their backs. The barrier surrounding them which was able to keep their fight enclosed so far was unable to take the pressure and shatter. Both of the fighters looked at the source of the pressure with fear in their eyes.

Obviously the source was Elena. She was having a good time watching two decently powerful person who were almost at the same level fighting it out but then both of them started to get too much into the fight and started to release killing intent. This was not a good sign as at the end of the day, it was a practice bout. And trying to kill the duke in front of his subordinates would not be a good look for anyone. So Elena decided to stop the match.

She also decided to hold a private bout between them without any witness so they could get a result. If the duke lost to an unknown S ranker in front of his subordinates, then that would not be a good look and Tomoe losing would make some people believe that the adventures were weaker than noble vampires which was also a bad thing.

So the best possible outcome for this battle would be a draw and Elena decided to do just that. After coming back to their senses after feeling the pressure, both of the participants also understood that they were getting too invested in this and pulled back.

Just like that, both of them shook hands and decided to end this somewhere else. Elena had already told them about it in a mental massage and they were fine with it. Karl was way too prideful to simply accept his loss to someone younger and normally he would have continued to fight but the pressure that he felt from Elena stopped him from doing so.

After that the duke and his entourage decided to return back and Elena was also ready to go back to the city of Utreyana. Karl and Tomoe would have their deciding fight when they all would go to visit his city.

Actually, Tomoe was still very young and this was her first time coming to the outside world. While on the other hand Karl had been a duke and a S ranker for a long long time. Basically his growth was on a stable period and Tomoe would continue to grow from now on. So it was clear who had better potential.

Not only that but the only reason why Karl was able to fight Tomoe for so long was because of his powerful skill and nothing else. While all of Tomoe's strength was the result of her tough training. So Elena felt that Karl was childish and a bit egotistical for comparing himself with Tomoe like this.
