The kingdom of Myrilia was ruled by the royal family, Estatet. But there were also two Archduke families and three Duke families who also had the authority to sit on the throne of the kingdom. As this world had real gods present, the complete change of dynasty by some outside usurper was impossible here.

But that doesn't mean the ruling family can't change. Throughout history it had been seen that if a single family had a complete monopoly over the ruling power then that nation most of the time either had given the worst possible life to its regular population or had plunged the realm into endless wars. That was why, most of the nation under god's protection had more than one family with the authority to sit on the throne.

That was the same for Myrilia Kingdom. It was not a very large nation but had a very high prestige as it was a nation protected by one of the high gods, the Goddess of Moon, Lunariya. The Estatet, the current royal family had a chance to select 3 people from their family to be the next king and both the Archduke families of Hortalis and Ion had a chance to select 2 candidates each. The three other Duke families of Claus, Riora and Mudrik could select one candidate each.

The procedure of the new king selection was designed by the goddess herself. The first king was a very loyal believer of the goddess and he also didn't want to see the kingdom falling into the wrong hands. That was why they designed this special procedure.

When the last king was going to abdicate all the candidates from each family would enter the hall of trials, a special building that only appeared when a new king was needed. As the name suggested, inside the hall of trials, one had to face several trials and depending on how they faced it the candidates would be given scores. And the candidate with the highest score at the end of the trials would become the new king.

But there was a catch. Only the king would remember what was the content of the trials. It was not possible to create countermeasures after just listening to what the previous winner faced as the content would be different every time but having at least some idea would always be a plus.

That was why, for the last three generations the Estate family was able to become the royal family back to back. The trial did not only measure the individual capabilities but also the capability of the supporting family behind each candidate that was why if any of the Archduke family ended up having more power than the royal family before the start of the trial, then their candidates chances of winning would be much higher.

And that was why one of the Archduke family tried that little abduction plan after getting some news about S rank materials. If their family could get some Armaments made with those materials then their chance of winning would be almost 90%.

After getting most all the details from the captured persons Elena got out of the guards room. She asked the guards to provide a room for the interrogation and they happily complied. Elena had to use the genesis grade item here as her mind reading powers worked best when her target had some kind of hostility toward her. But those three had only fear after getting captured and so Elena had to use that.

But now she had to think about some kind of countermeasures, as according to the information she got even the inside of the capital would not be much safer. Elena actually could just let the teleportation take them to the culprits and then she could wipe them out, but the culprits were planning to bombard the whole caravan instantly after the teleportation and that could be a little bit tricky so Elena took the safe approach.

After entering the city the caravan didn't go straight to the merchants guild but instead went to an inn and booked a large private room. There they asked Elena what information she got in detail. Elena had nothing particularly important to hide so she just told them everything. Hearing her their faces lost colour.

Elena thought that as they had already entered the city she just needed to keep them safe until they reached the merchant guild. There might be one or two more attacks but that was nothing serious but just a bit annoying in her opinion.

Logun said to her -

"Miss, the Ion family had the support of two other Duke families and is at the best position among the families with ruling authority. Even if we safely give all the materials to the guild, even then the Ion family will definitely find problems with us as we are the ones who foiled their plans. They are very well known for their vengeful nature. They might even try to assassinate us."

Logun's face was getting paler and paler as he spoke. Elena asked him if he could not ask the Margrave family or the royal family for protection. They replied as these materials were not the royal families property and margrave was only fulfilling a favour for the merchants guild, they would not involve themselves in it. If the merchant guild decided to give the materials to a certain family then they might help them but the merchant guild would obviously not do something like that.

So, even if they would get quite a lot of compensation from the merchants guild for bringing the materials to the capital, it would still be a loss for them. After getting into the bad side of an Archduke family like the Ion family they could not do anymore business in this nation. All three of them were planning to leave the nation safely and even that was supposed to be hard.

Elena doesn't like to get involved with messy political situations. The Ion family here didn't do anything particularly wrong and she wasn't angry enough to just wipe them out even tho she could do that quite easily. That could be a solution to the current problem. The next solution would be to ask the margrave for help but Theodor had no reason to help them so Elena didn't want to pressure him.

The next solution could be asking the merchant guild for help as it was their product that got them into this situation. But the merchant guild could not do much outside the walls of the capital so it would be kinda meaningless. The fourth solution would be to ask the Goddess of Moon, Lunariya who had become one of her little sisters when she went to the God's Realm last time but the situation wasn't bad enough that Elena wanted a high god's intervention.

So Elena thought of the least troublesome solution and asked -

"If you all leave this country, how much losses would you face. Can you all rise back from that ?"

"Ahh, please don't mind that, miss Elena. We all had considerable savings. Yes, we would lose some of our assets but that will not be too serious of a loss."

"Umm, if that is the case then I will make sure that you all will be able to cross this nation's borders safely alongside your family. Don't worry and make preparations for that."

Saying so Elena went out to make some preparation for that as she wanted them to cross the border legally.
