Elena and Tomoe immediately went to the best inn of this city. The price of the rooms there was astronomical but money was not really a problem for Elena so she easily spent that amount. Then she was brought to the room, she found that room to not be up to the standard of what she had spent. Immediately Elena and Tomoe complained about this but the inn staff told them that for the money that they had spent this was the best room they were going to get. If they wanted better rooms, they needed to pay extra money.

It was clear that this all was just a scum and the inn was trying to loot Elena of her money. It was rare for them to have a super rich customer here. They might soon bring out their weapons if they judged that Elena and Tomoe were not a threat. This was a lawless town so even the best inn here did not need to play by the rules.

Seeing this these people were being so disingenuous from the very beginning, Elena also decided to use her super successful universal method of persuasion. She badly beat them up. After getting a few of their bones broken just to be healed by their own regeneration and getting them broken again, these people were unable to take this anymore and immediately surrendered. Elena could have just killed these people like before, but with her abilities she found out that this group of people were not as bad as the previous bunch.

The people who were killed by Elena in the alleyway were all rapists and murderers of innocent lives. So Elena immediately killed them. As for the people working in this inn, the most heinous crime that they had committed was monetary fraud, which was definitely a crime but in Elena's eyes it was not bad enough to be punished by her. So after making them regret their decision to target Elena, she got the best room of the inn and even made the management of the inn to make the room free of charge to reimburse her for the harassment that she had suffered.

After taking care of the accommodation problem, Elena and Tomoe decided to go out to take a walk through the city. This had been their routine for all the cities that they had visited so they were looking forward to it. This city was going to be different from all the cities that they had visited before so both Elena and Tomoe were ready to witness some bad scenes. They were also planning to help out whoever they were able to.

As the inn was located in a rich area of the city, this place looked quite well taken care of. But still there were many people in the street who looked to be extremely poor. After just walking around this area for 15 minutes, Elena and Tomoe witnessed fifteen cases of theft, two cases of armed robbery and seventeen fights breaking out for various reasons. This place was more chaotic than anything that Tomoe had seen before.

Elena had been to many cities with an atmosphere like this. Actually when she was journeying to save the world, most of the cities which were not a part of a greater power, had a corrupt leader or were in a remote and dangerous area were all like this. So Elena did not find the atmosphere of the city to be unfamiliar.

As they left behind the somewhat richer area of the city, the crimes started to escalate. They had not interfered with little stealings and fights between people, but when they saw that a man was about to be killed in an alleyway, it was hard for Elena and Tomoe to still ignore it. So Tomoe immediately took her sword out and blocked the weapon of the man who was trying to stab another man.

Actually this was not the first time they had seen people trying to kill each in this city almost in the open. But last time when they saw it, both of those men were holding weapons and were trying to kill each other. That was the reason why Elena and Tomoe did not interfere there. But here the case was different. It looked like this weapon holding man was trying to kill a weaponless innocent person. That was the reason why Tomoe intervened.

From a distance, Elena gave Tomoe a signal indicating that she was free to cut this man down. As expected from someone who was trying to kill an innocent person, this person was a scum and Elena did not find any good qualities in this man for which he should be kept alive. So she just allowed Tomoe to cut him down.

That was an easy thing for Tomoe to do and she immediately severed the head of the man with a slash of her sword. Elena then burned that man's body with super powerful flames and even ashes were not left on the spot. With that all the evidence of this man ever being here disappeared completely. Then Tomoe went to ask the man she had saved if he was alright or not.

Understandably this man was in an emotionally excited state, so he was not able to reply immediately. So Elena handed him some fruit juice to drink. Only after taking a few sips from it, he managed to calm down. Then he thanked Elena and Tomoe again and again. As their current location was not a good spot to talk, everyone moved to a small tea shop to have a talk. There after taking a good look at the man, Elena and Tomoe both noticed that he did not look like a resident of this city.

Everyone living in this city either had a ruthless aura of a criminal or had a desolate aura of oppressed people. But this man did not have any such aura and instead looked like a completely normal person. Then when he started to tell Elena and Tomoe a little bit about his life, they finally realised why that was the case.

This person named Atoge was actually not from this city. He had come here from a distant city, in search of his son. Vampires did not have a natural lifespan but they could also die for various reasons. The wife of this man was actually in her deathbed and wanted to see her son for the last time. She only had about three to four hundred years left, so he quickly went out to search for his son.

His son had left the house about a thousand years ago and had only occasionally sent a few letters. But he never gave them any permanent address and did not tell them anything about where he worked or lived. But still through some sources, Atoge had managed to find some clues that suggested that his son was actually working in this city which made his very worried. He would have been even more worried if he had not gotten a letter from him just a few years ago mentioning that he was doing fine.

So in order to find and inform his son about the situation of his mother, Atoge took the risk and entered the city. But soon he found out that this place was way more dangerous that he had thought and was almost killed. So he understood how foolish he had been and requested help from Elena and Tomoe. He was ready to pay them any amount of money that they wanted. They were his benefactor, so paying them with his all was not weird in his eyes.

Elena and Tomoe did not reply to them and just told him to wait for a little bit and stood up. Only the Atoge noticed that the teahouse where they were sitting was already surrounded by a bunch of dangerous looking men and women.

Now what was going to happen here ?
