When the sun disappeared and night fell, Elena again went to the village chief. The chief welcomed her again and showed the same hospitable manner. But just one sentence from Elena created a crack in his well practiced smile.

Actually Elena just asked him a question. Normally he would answer the question or if he was unaware of the answer, he would say that to Elena. But this time he did not do any of that. The question that Elena asked him was simple. She asked if he was not feeling the trouble for controlling so many people together ?

This question immediately revealed that Elena was already aware of its identity and that made the mastermind to trimble in fear. Even though it had managed to take care of an A ranker using various types of tricks, a S ranker was in a whole different league and there was no way this mastermind could fight against one.

So it took the most logical step and tried to run away. The village chief immediately lost all colour of life from his eyes and he sat down on the ground. Elena was expecting this as soon as this happened, she activated a grand spell that she was preparing while walking around the village.

As soon as Elena activated the magic spell, several magic circles drawn in various parts of the villat lit up and a barrier appeared surrounding the whole village. As soon as that happened, Elena felt that the creepy atmosphere of the village became even creepier and a huge amount of hostility was directed toward her.

Whoever was behind this incident understood that now it had no other way back to fight back with all its might. So instead of surrendering, it decided to resist. The door to one of the houses immediately opened and from there five demons came out. None of them were from the species of the three types of demons who lived in this village.

If someone familiar with the famous adventurers of the city of Imenhawk was here, that person would be able to recognise these demons, especially the man with a wolf like head and bull like horn, who was a very famous A rank adventurer of the city. So the people who had appeared to fight against Elena were the same adventurers who had gone missing.

This was also something that Elena had expected so as soon as they appeared, Elena used another spell. Vines came out of the ground and started to bind all the adventurers. Four of them were unable to resist at all and were quickly captured. The A ranker tried to resist a little bit but in less than ten seconds, he was also tied up tightly.

That was not all. After capturing the powerful adventurer, Elena used another spell. It was also one of the spells that was already prepared just like the barrier spell and the whole village started glowing. As soon as that light touched any of the villagers, they completely lost control of their body and were unable to move even a single finger.

But there was someone who was not affected by this spell but because of it, his location was exposed. Immediately a completely black robe appeared which was covering the body of a person. It looked like this black robe had a powerful presence concealing capability.

As soon as the person was exposed, he threw away the black robe and the figure of a demon appeared. This person looked very much like a dark elf and even had pointed ears. But there was a pair of horns on his head and a metallic tail was coming out from his back. This exposed his identity as a member of one of the super powerful demon races called Dhanos.

This man was also an A ranker but Elena judged that his level was below that of the A rank adventurer who was captured by her just a few minutes ago. So it looked like he needed to use some tricks to capture and control him. The Dhanos were a powerful demon race who could use various abilities. And it looked like this man had the ability to project his consciousness on a different person's mind to control them.

The Dhanos race had a grand ancestor who was the first being of this race. More individuals of this race were only able to appear after that ancestor used a special magic to turn himself into a semi divine figure. But unlike the true gods of this world, he was not someone who was acknowledged by the will of the world so to maintain his existence, he needed various offerings from his bloodline.

His bloodline also did their best to give the grand ancestor as much offering as they could. These offerings could be as simple as a whole hearted prayer or the body of a powerful monster. With the effort of all the members of the race through many thousands of years, the grand ancestor had managed to stabilise its position as a false deity. So he also became capable of granting more powers to someone who gave him offerings.

Most of the members of the Dhanos race continued to worship him and gained power in a slow but steady process. But there were a few individuals in the tribe who were not satisfied with the rate of the strength gain. So they started using various evil methods to create more offerings for the grand ancestor to gain power at a faster rate.

The man here was also trying to do the same. He needed time to get the whole village under his control and sacrificing the villagers was also time consuming. So before he was completely ready with all the preparations, someone had already noticed the missing people who were his first few victims. So adventurers started to come to the village and everything became extremely troublesome.

He still did his best and even managed to take control over an A ranker who was stronger than him. He knew that there was a high possibility that a S ranker would now come but he was planning to run away before that could happen.

Normally S rank missions needed a lot of time to be accepted so he had not thought that a S ranker would appear so quickly. Then he tried to create a facade and was planning to create a scapegoat to send the S ranker away with satisfaction. But before he could put any of his plans into action, his plot was completely revealed and he was exposed.

So as a last ditch effort, he still tried to use his magic to fight back. But obviously someone as weak as him was not Elena's match even when she was restricting herself. So just like the other adventurers, he was also captured by vines and lost his mobility.

Then Elena hit the man's head and made him unconscious. As soon as that happened, all the villagers and the missing adventurers started to wake up. After that all of them were obviously very confused so Elena took some time to explain to them the situation. After learning what had happened, all of the villagers became scared stiff with fear. If someone as brilliant as Elena was not here, then all of them would have turned into sacrifices for a false deity sooner or later. That was a terrible future.

So everyone started thanking Elena for saving their life. Elena accepted their gratitude and asked for two villagers to come with her to explain the situation in the guild. This was not a must thing but in a super large situation like this, having some victims with them was helpful for the investigation process.

So with the rescued adventurer, captured culprit and the victims, Elena started her return journey to the city after spending the night in that village.
