Elena first meet up with Graf and his two subordinates, Jecob and Verna. As for Kyle, he was in charge of bringing the selection trial participants to the trial grounds. So he would meet up with everyone there. Graf was really very grateful that Elena was willing to this much for him so as soon as he saw her, he once again displayed his gratitude by thanking her.

Elena told him with a smile to stop and asked the two other people beside him about the preparation. She knew that asking Graf was useless as he would definitely not have any idea about it. But Jecob and Verna were responsible for preparing the whole test, so they explained everything to Elena properly.

Actually preparing such a big venue in just two days was not easy. But with the demon's magic and resources, they were able to pull it off. After learning more about the details, she was satisfied with the venue. Now it all depended on how good or how bad the participants of the selection trial would be.

After reaching the trial grounds, Elena and the others first met up with Kyle. Next, Kyle took Elena to take a look at the participants for the first time. After taking a look, Elena did not feel anything. None of the people here were very impressive but at the same time, they were also not terrible either. So if any one of them could use their brains well, that person would still have a chance of becoming a good leader.

So Elena did not waste any time and immediately started the trial. A total of 27 individuals were going to participate in the trial. That was definitely without a doubt a large number. Elena was impressed that Graf was able to get so many offsprings.

As Elena had mentioned, strength was the most important thing for the demons. So if a lord of a large city like Imenhawk was not at least a S ranker, then he would not be able to keep on ruling the city. If Graf did not have a way to boost the strength of one person to the S ranks, this whole plan would have flopped since the very beginning.

Elena had asked Graf what kind of item he had that could make something like this possible and as Elena as a super strong S ranker had no use for the item, Graf had shown it to her without any hesitation.

It was actually a pill created by a future demigod rank powerhouse. In his earlier years as an adventurer, Graf had found this pill inside a ruin. He did not use this pill on himself as the side-effects of the pill was terrible and he had extreme confident on his own self that he would be able to reach the S rank without a problem on his own.

This pill could actually immediately make someone to reach the level of 300 immediately. But in exchange that person would never be able to increase their level anymore. Not only that but the stats someone would get after using the pill would not be as high as a natural S ranker. So even amongst the initial S rank powerhouses, that person would be weakest. For someone talented this pill was more like a curse but for someone who was not talented enough to reach the S rank, this pill was a big blessing.

But the user of the pill needed to have one thing. The effect of the pill was very painful, so the person using it needed to have a strong willpower. And at the same time if the person was too weak, their bodies would not be able to withstand the sudden boost in strength and in worse case situation, the body might even explode, killing the pill user. For that reason all the selection candidates needed to cross a certain threshold of strength.

So for that reason, in the first test, all the participants needed to prove their strength. They do not need to do much but just to fight an A rank monster head on and survive. Yes, they did not even need to win the battle against that monster and just needed to survive.

As for the A rank monsters they were going to fight, they could choose their own opponent. This would also check if any of the participants were overconfident or did not have a proper understanding of their own strength. This would also be taken into account in future trials.

As soon as the trial started, all the participants went inside the forest. This forest did have quite a few A rank monsters but their numbers were not that numerous and most of them were decently powerful. So surviving against them was somewhat difficult for these participants.

For that reason, Elena had asked Graf to fill the forest with a few weak initial A rank monsters. So currently this forest had a total of 25 such monsters. All of those monsters were relatively weak and the participants had the best chance of survival if they came accross any of them. This would also test the luck of the participants as they needed to came accross the weaker monsters first.

The test continued and soon the participants started to encounter the monsters. Elena and the duke himself was keeping an eye on all the participants so they would at least not die. Graf had also enlisted the help of another S ranker who was also his friend. He was also one of the man who had participated with Elena in the Dhanos hunt so Graf did not need to introduce him to Elena again.

So with three S rankers overlooking the whole trial, it proceeded smoothly. Most of the participants were actually able to find the weak monsters but still quite a few of them needed to be saved. But there were also a few who managed to survive against a powerful natural inhabitant of the forest. Elena was impressed by it as some of them had really managed to exceed her expectation.

The test did not went on for too long. In less than 4 hours, all the battles had concluded. The S rank overseers needed to save 13 of the participants so at the end 14 individuals managed to pass the trial. That was actually not much different from what Elena was expecting but still she was satisfied that some of the participants among them had managed to give a decent performance.

So with Elena now looking a little bit forward to the following rounds, the test continued.
