Actually, that fortress where this item was, proving to be extremely difficult to capture. So a few members of the Cross were suggesting to just go around the fortress leaving it be. That would have been perfectly fine and just one fortress was unable to do any big harm to them.

But the leaders of the Cross of Ferocity rejected this idea only because he really wanted to get his hands on the stone tablet. For that reason he even called back two of his colleagues who were also S rankers. Only with three S rank powerhouses working together, did they managed to conquer that fortress.

That fortress alone had managed to slow down a huge army and needed three S rankers to move, so it also slowed down the movements of the demons by a great margin and the human nations located far from the shores which was close to the demon continent got a chance to reinforce the nations of that area.

But after getting his hands on the item, the leader was quite disappointed. It turned out that this item had some kind of special restriction which only allowed people with a certain bloodline to activate it's true powers. It was still usable and was a decently powerful item even without the true power, but it was no where near as impressive as before which made the leader extremely dissatisfied.

So much so that as soon as he got the item, he send that back to the demon continent with a group of injured soldiers who were returning back. He also ordered the stone tablet to be stashed inside his personal secret warehouse and not to be used. So for over a century, that impressive magic item was rotting inside the personal warehouse of the previous leader of the Cross of Ferocity.

That was the reason why for this whole time, the noble family who were the true owner of this magic item had not managed to find any clues about it even with their vast connections and networks. But recently when the Cross of Ferocity had started to became active again, the supreme protector had decided to put this item to use. Even without it's true powers, it was still too good to be rotting inside a warehouse.

The lifespan of a human was very short compared to the demons. So he had thought that after hundreds of years, the humans would have already given up on this item. But he had not expected how valuable this item was to the noble family and how determined they were to get it back. So as soon as the item came to the outside world, almost immediately the noble family was notified about its existence.

That was all he knew about this item. As for its true power, the supreme protector had not seen with his own eyes. He was the only S ranker of that time who had not gone to the human continent and had stayed in the demon continent to take care of the matters here. He was also way less war headed than his fellow S rankers and that was also the reason why he was still alive.
