After getting closer to the shop, Elena saw that there were several glass tanks full of water in the shop. Inside those glass tanks, various sea creatures were kept. There were colourful fishes, bizzare specimens and even some famous monsters like Death Thorn Corals.
All these creatures were actually not from the real large ocean that was separating the five continents. This region was quite far away from the sea, so items from a sea were not found here usually.
But there was a saltwater lake located in this region. This salt water lake had the exact same environment as the sea so various sea creatures could live there. There were three villages who were living beside the saltwater lake and this shop belonged to one such village.
The two other villages had their own industry related to the sea. One of them was famous for farming pearls and another one was famous for there sea food. But the last village did not have anything unique and the only thing that were able to sell from the sea were the caught fishes.
But this year, they came up with a marvelous idea. Some of their sea hunters and fishermen had experienced that people from outside of their villages found the creatures from the sea to be fascinating and interesting. For them those creatures were nothing special as they handled them every day. But that was not the case for other villages.
So they came up with a plan to display these unusual creatures in the Grand Bazaar. Many of the village elders were not very confident about this plan but they felt that there was no problem in trying it out. That was why even before the start of the market, as a marketing strategy, the villagers were displaying a little bit of what kinds of things they could expect from their display after the start of the real bazaar.
And this plan turned out to be a huge success. Elena could hear that most of the people were intrigued by the sea creatures. As most of them had never been to the sea, they found all the creatures to be interesting.
The shop was now allowing the people to view only a limited amount of creatures but even just this bit had managed to gather a considerable crowd. So Elena was sure that after the official start of the bazaar, this shop would definitely get a lot of traffic.
As there were not a lot of sea creatures in display, Elena was able to check all of them out in a short amount of time. Then after making a mental note to check this shop out after the official start of the bazaar, she went to check other places.
...
While Elena was having fun checking out various shops of the grand bazaar, the people of the Oshi village were busy having a meeting of their elders. The subject for this meeting was the grand bazaar and their rivals, the Conna Village.
The rivalry between both of the villages had been going on for thousands of years. After such a long time, even the oldest of the demons had forgotten the reason behind this conflict. But after going after each other for so long, continuing this had became a second nature to the inhabitants of both villages.
As this time, Oshi village was hosting the grand bazaar, they were determined to get in the way of the Conna Village. For that one of their elders had came up with an idea.
The reason why Conna Village had managed to perform so well in all the bazaars was mainly because alchemical and medical products were too famous and were never out of demand. It was not like their products were superior to others but as they had a large supply of herbs, the amount they were able to provide was greater than all other.
So if the Oshi village could provide products of better quality then the Conna village and could provide enough to meet the market's demand, then they could take away the customers of the Conna Village. And that was exactly what they were planning to do.
But obviously without a convenient place like the forest of Conna Village, it was impossible for the Oshi Village to have such a large supply of herbs. So they had spent a lot of money to co-operate with other villages to get enough herbs.
But just having the herbs was not enough. They also needed expert alchemists to turn these herbs into elixirs and potions. So for that reason, they had recruited an organisation called "Solaris" and had gotten alchemists from them.
This whole scheme had cost a lot of money to the village, so they were hoping to earn some of that loss back during the grand bazaar. Even if they still stay in the red after the bazaar, if the loss margin was not too bad and if the Conna Villages had also lost some business, then they would have no regrets.
"Chief Lan, how is the production of the elixirs are going ?"
"We need to have at least 2000 units prepared before the start of the bazaar."
"I took advantage of my authority and took a peak on the amount of goods those Conna villagers were bringing. My estimate is that they have at least prepared 3000 units if not more. So I think we should also make a few extra or they might leave us behind."
"Don't just focus on the quantity of the elixirs. If our quality is not slightly better than the Conna Village, then we will not be able to take away their customer as they are more reputable in this industry."
While listening all his comrades discussing about their new venture with excitement, the chief of the Oshi village, Lanchester was sweating buckets. But still he forced a smile on his face and told them that everything was in order and their Village would definitely be able to defeat the Conna village this year.
...
After the meeting was over, Lanchester left the meeting hall while enduring a continuous pain in his belly. Whenever he was worried, this pain appeared. And currently he was more worried than he had ever been in his whole life.
The alchemists that were supplied by the Solaris had turned out to be novices. They had no experience in making the high level elixirs that the Oshi Village wanted. Only one person among them was somewhat capable. But there was no way he could meet the huge demand alone.
As for organisation called Solaris, Lanchester had gotten news that they had been accused of tax fraud and he was not able to contact them anymore. The novice had also lost their jobs because of this and in their worry had lost the ability to properly concoct even the simplest of potions.
In this troublesome situation, forget about defeating the Conna Village, the Oshi village was on verge of losing almost 12 million R. For their village this was a huge sum of money. They would be extremely hurt by such a massive loss.
While thinking about this, even in his old age, Lanchester felt like crying. He had no solution in mind for this problem and he was feeling like dying. Now he could only pray to the gods for salvation and could do nothing else.
Who knew if gods took pity on him or if he was just lucky, his extremely worried expression was noticed by a golden haired beauty, who came to him and gently ask him what he was worrying about so much.
